In order to flat tow a vehicle, the very first thing you are going to want to do is consult the owners manual in the recreational towing section to determine the correct towing procedure. If you find that the vehicle can be flat towed then you will need 5 items.

First you will need base plates on the vehicle being towed or the Toad. The base plates provide the proper safe and secure attachment point for the tow bar. You can use base plates # 1425-1. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation for you.

Next you will need a compatible tow bar. The Stowmaster tow bar, # RM-501, is compatible with the base plates and vehicle. It has a capacity of 6,000 pounds. I have linked instructions and a video review for you.

The next item you will need is a set of safety cables like # RM-643. These cables provide extra security should the Toad become detached. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.

The fourth item you will need is a lighting solution. If you will not be towing the Jeep often then I recommend a magnetic light kit like # RM-2120. But if you need a more permanent solution then use kit # 154-792-118158.

And finally most states now require a supplemental braking system on the Toad when flat towing. The easiest system to set up and use is the Even Brake # RM-9400 proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the truck will be braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicle.

I have included some additional helpful links on flat towing for you.
