Hello Perry, thanks for reaching out. There are a few things that can cause bouncing with your trailer. One of the most common causes of this is worn out suspension components. If the leaf spring are new though we can rule this out. Unless the new leaf springs you put on are not rated correctly for the trailer. If the springs are too strong or not strong enough it can cause bouncing.

You will want to make sure the trailer is being towed as level as possible. You will also want to check the tires for any excessive wear or flat spots.

It may be that you are not towing enough weight relative to the GVWR of the trailer. Adding weight to the trailer can help even things out and the bouncing will reduce the closer you get to the GVWR. Our rule of thumb is that your trailer tongue weight should be at least 10%-15% of the GVWR so if you can up the tongue weight or total weight it should help.

One thing you can do for a quick fix is add on some SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs like the # TSS-106-40 for underslung 3K-5K axles or # TSS-107-40 for overslung 3K-5K axles. These will help to reduce bouncing and add stability.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Hey Perry, how did things turn out with the bouncing on your double axle trailer? Did adjusting the load or adding the SumoSprings help smooth out the ride? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same issue.

@JesseM A buddy of mine helped me put new leave spings , shackles, everything except the axel were new. He welded the leave spring brackets on for me and we were off on our measurements. We had to grind two of the brackets off and reweld them so they all the same distance from the end of trailer

@PerryB Ok gotcha thanks for sharing! Glad to hear you got it sorted. Sounds like the suspension was out of alignment which definitely explains the bouncing. Thanks again for taking the time to share!
