Heat and friction can ruin a hub fast, especially under heavy loads. This Dexter idler hub uses an oil bath setup that keeps things running cooler than traditional grease. You can check the lubricant level by simply looking through the clear oil cap—no need to tear the hub down. The oil system flows smoothly around both the 25580 inner and 02475 outer bearings, helping everything stay lubricated and protected for long hauls.
Everything you need comes in one package, already matched and ready to go. The kit includes both bearings (25580 inner, 02475 outer), races (25520 and 02420), oil seal (10-63), oil cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. The 9/16" studs are already pressed in, so you can bolt it up quickly. It fits standard 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern wheels sized from 17-1/2" to 18-1/2". That means less time hunting for extra hardware and more time getting back on the road.
When you’re pulling weight day after day, you want parts that can take it. This hub is designed for 8,000-lb trailer axles with a 4,000-lb capacity per hub. The sturdy iron construction handles steady use with no fuss. The pilot diameter is 4-3/4", giving a solid fit for heavy-duty wheels that can handle serious work or distance.
You’re not locked into one type of lubrication. While the Dexter hub is designed for oil bath use, it can also be run with grease if that’s what you prefer—the included oil seal works fine either way. Whether you stick with oil for cooler operation or swap to grease for familiarity, this hub gives you flexibility without extra parts or modification.
Finding a match for older or mixed setups can be tough. This Dexter hub keeps things simple with standard dimensions across every key point—1.75" inner bearing ID, 1.25" outer bearing ID, 2.25" inner seal ID, and 3.376" outer seal diameter. Everything lines up cleanly so you can measure your spindle and know right away if it fits. It’s a practical solution when reliability matters most.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Sorry it didnt work out for you William. The product page does go through the steps and measurements you need to take and have to verify the fitment of the product. If you went through these steps and you have something that is in the range that is listed we can work with you to rectify this situation.

You mentioned that you did not think that it was for a 10,000-pound axle. I wanted to ask if you could explain in more detail why you feel that it is not.

It is the wrong part....the hub is too big for my axle....I guess they make two different sizes for the 10000 lb axle....I need to swap it out....if we can determine you have the part I need in stock perhaps I can drive up there and swap it out.
