Note: Because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes.
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the hydraulic actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward, once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. When this happens, the actuator contracts, applying force to its master cylinder. This in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes.
Adjustable Channel Design
The adjustable channel on this trailer brake actuator allows for ultimate versatility. Mount almost any type of coupler (sold separately) - from a standard ball coupler to a lunette ring or clevis attachment - to fit your specific application. In addition, the 3 mounting positions on the channel let you adjust the height of the coupler. Just place the coupler so that it matches the height of the ball mount or other hitch attachment on your tow vehicle and you will be able to tow your trailer levelly.
Sturdy, Corrosion-Resistant Construction
Made of sturdy steel, this hydraulic trailer brake actuator features a durable zinc coating that is designed to limit rust and corrosion. This zinc coat has a 200-hour salt spray rating. In addition, the composite master cylinder is made of corrosion-resistant glass-reinforced nylon to further ensure durability.

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the Demco hydraulic trailer brake actuator for disc brakes. It is the adjustable channel center design and has a 12,500 weight capacity. Now, this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. This is an adjustable channel design so it does have three different mounting positions for the coupler that you install in here. Now, the coupler is sold separately. This actuator has a zinc plating, offers excellent corrosion resistance as it meets a 200 hour salt spray rating.
The master cylinder at the back here is a composite master cylinder, which is very durable and efficient. It's a glass-reinforced nylon construction, which will resist rust and corrosion. Has a very large reservoir to provide increased capacity for the brake fluid, and if you notice on the top, uses an automotive style diaphragm cap to create a completely enclosed system to help prevent contamination of your brake fluid. On the inside of this actuator, they use an Acetyl-CoA polymer lining. Provides a nice smooth operation as the actuator telescopes in and out. Also, at the top you can see they include the break away kit.
That's all included. Uses a snap hook on this end. Ensures your secure connection to your break away lever. Now, this is a heavy duty steel construction. It's a bolt on installation.
You can see right here at the bottom, this is a five-hole standard outer case design. Now, it does require a half inch by four and a half inch long grade, five bolts for mounting. Those are not included. This part is made in the USA.A few specs on this. The application, this is for trailers with hydraulic disc brakes.
Gross towing weight capacity is 12,500 pounds. Maximum tongue weight is 1,250 pounds. Now, the channel width, which is measured inside to inside, is 3 inches. Channel height, bottom to the top, is right at 8 inches. And the mounting for this, it's designed to mount onto a straight, 3 inch wide trailer tongue. And the model number on this, that also goes by the model number of DA10.But that should do it for the review on the Demco hydraulic trailer brake actuator for disc brakes with the adjustable channel center design and a 12,500 pound weight capacity.
