Features to know about

Tough Against Salt and Spray: Galvanized Protection with 500-Hour Salt Rating

Saltwater and wet conditions are rough on steel parts. The galvanized Dexter hub-and-drum assembly is built for marine use and tested to withstand 500 hours of continuous salt-spray exposure. That zinc coating fights off rust and corrosion so your hub keeps turning smoothly season after season, even when the trailer sees regular dunking at the ramp.

Ready for Brakes and Bearings: Complete 3,500-lb Hub-and-Drum Setup

This assembly fits 3,500-lb axles with #84 spindles and works with 10" × 2-1/4" electric or hydraulic brake assemblies. It includes inner bearing L68149, outer bearing L44649, both races, grease seal 58846 (1.719" ID / 2.565" OD), grease cap (1.98" flange diameter), and zinc-coated lug nuts. With the races already installed, it’s ready to pack with grease and mount right out of the box, simplifying the rebuild or replacement job.

Smooth Stops and Solid Fit: 10" × 2-1/4" Drum Design for 13"–15" Wheels

The 10"-diameter by 2-1/4"-wide drum gives consistent braking surface for dependable stopping power. It’s rated for 1,750 lbs per wheel end and uses a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern with 1/2" × 2-1/4" wheel bolts, covering common wheel sizes from 13" to 15". The precisely machined races and bearings keep things running true for smooth rotation and even shoe contact.

Built for Long Hauls and Quick Fixes: Reliable and Easy to Install

Whether you’re refurbishing an old trailer or keeping a spare hub for roadside repairs, this marine-grade Dexter assembly makes things straightforward. The bearings, seal, and hardware are included, so there’s no hunting for extra parts. It goes on easily, fits tight, and holds up to long-distance towing and heavy use without fuss.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

by:

great price and the berring races came installed, saved me time. hopefully they can hold up to salt water

by:

As always... just what I ordered in a timely fashion.

by:

Ordered these at same time as ordering new brakes. Went together with no problems, fit just like originals

by:

Perfect replacement for my old worn out Hub/Drum. I went with the galvanized becasue of use in saltwater.

Thanks E-Trailer.

by:

So far so good! Wish it would have come with new castle nut and washer. Fast delivery!

by:

I used these on my salt water boat trailer. The product works very well and have stood up to the salt water quite well.
I am happy with the results and ease of use.

by:

These brake hubs state made in USA, but the bearings are clearly stamped with China. I specifically asked the rep about the bearings & they told me they’d be made in USA. Not too happy with Etrailer customer service. When I called to inquire about the Chinese Bearings they said there’s nothing we can do, as Drexler controls the packaging for the Brake Hub kit.

I am very sorry to hear that you were told everything was USA made Marc, as you saw the Dexter hub is made here in the US, but the bearings we pack are made in China. We do have USA made bearings but they would need to be purchased separately. For this hub you will want to get the Timken Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and AL-KO Axles - 3,500 lb with #84 Spindle # TMK52VR, you will want to order one set per hub. Once again, my apologies.

by:

Excellent resources to help determine the exact parts I needed for my trailer project. Great product descriptions and videos. Competive prices and quick shipping! Thank you very much!

by:

I'm just getting around to installing
my drums, thanks for promptly getting them to me, they look great!

I'm wondering if this product has the free backing feature or if I need to manually lock out the brakes when backing up. Any information is appreciated.

by:

Bought the galvanized drum brakes for a 6000# boat trailer used strictly in salt water. With rinse off after use they seem to be holding up pretty good.

by:

I would highly recommend etrailer if they have what you need. These people really care about filling your order properly and followup with anything you order from them. They assume nothing!

This is a class AAA business to do business with.

by:

Stripping down a 16 year old 21 ft. salt water use trailer - from end to end. The folks @ etrailer were very knowledgeable, and helpful in my decision making. From placing the order, to tracking the order, to the way the items were packed for transit. Other distributors could learn from these people; in regards to customer service, following up, both office and warehouse. Unloaded the products last night, nothing short, all quality in regards to their products, with great pricing. The installation videos are a big bonus, and something I'll be taking advantage of, during the restoration. Will follow up with picture, (before and after) when I'm done

by:

Everything purchased worked exactly as expected and continues to do the job I needed of them. I have and will continue to purchase all my trailer products from E-Trailer...

Cheap junk. One of the hubs was not properly coated. Will not recommend this to anybody. Cheap junk from China. Photos will be attached.

We had a break down on Saturday when we picked our boat up from storage. Went online and ordered the necessary parts to repair the trailer and forgot about it for a couple hours. Etrailer called to notify us that the selected parts would not arrive as hoped based on the shipping I had chosen. They went out of their way to locate the suitable parts and verify that they would arrive by the time I needed them so we could get the trailer repaired and back on the road. Thank you Etrailer for the excellent customer service!!! I look forward to my next order with you!

by:

Shipping was pretty fast and packaging nice and secure. The drums and brake backing assembly were a breeze to install without instructions. I was a bit surprised though that the back kit did not come with 4 new bolts to secure onto the flange. I used the old ones. The drum kit comes with new lug nuts though. I have no real complaints, I would definitely use etrailer again. Excellent pricing and quality. I installed these brakes the next day after receiving them. I used marine grease from autozone to pack the new bearings. The brakes are bled and adjusted as per the sticker on the kit...adjust til you cannot turn by hand and 10 clicks out. All that's left is to test drive it.

  • Brakes, Hubs, and 7-Way Plug for Viking Popup Camper
We can most likely help with what you need but we need more info from you to pick out what you need. For hub/drum replacements I need to get the bearing numbers from your old hubs or the dimensions of the spindle on your trailer axle. From there we will be able to determine which brake assemblies you'd need. Then for wheel and tires I need the bolt pattern of your wheels and the tire size that's on the sidewall as well. Do you have a 4-way or a 7-way connector?
