Frequent dunking in saltwater can destroy standard hubs in no time, but this one’s built to last. The galvanized finish on the Dexter 12" x 2" hub-and-drum assembly has a 500-hour salt spray rating, giving it real staying power in marine environments. It’s a marine-grade setup designed for both electric and hydraulic brakes, perfect for trailers that see regular launches and recoveries.
When a bearing fails or a hub needs to be swapped fast, having everything ready in one package makes the job simple. This assembly comes complete with inner bearing (25580), outer bearing (15123), both matching races (25520 and 15245), grease seal GS-2250DL, grease cap, 1/2"-diameter wheel bolts, and zinc-coated lug nuts. Each piece fits together cleanly so you can install it and get back on the road or back to the water without hunting for extra parts.
Good brakes start with a solid hub and drum. The 12" diameter x 2" wide drum provides the right surface area for consistent shoe contact and smooth braking performance, whether in electric or hydraulic systems. The assembly supports up to 3,000 lbs per hub, giving you dependable stopping power when you’re hauling heavy loads or towing long distances.
Salt spray, road grime, and moisture can eat through bare metal fast, but Dexter’s galvanized coating keeps rust at bay. Every GAL-DEX hub goes through a 5-percent salt solution test for 500 hours of continuous exposure, proving it can stand up to freshwater and saltwater alike. That means less corrosion and a longer-lasting hub you can count on season after season.
If you’re running a typical 6-bolt wheel setup, this hub and drum is ready to fit. It mounts on #42 spindles, works with wheel sizes from 14-1/2" to 16-1/2", and has a grease cap flange diameter of 2.446". Built for reliability and ease of use, it’s a practical replacement or spare that fits right and performs well under load.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

I am very sorry to hear that you were told everything was USA made Marc, as you saw the Dexter hub is made here in the US, but the bearings we pack are made in China. We do have USA made bearings but they would need to be purchased separately. For this hub you will want to get the Timken Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and AL-KO Axles - 3,500 lb with #84 Spindle # TMK52VR, you will want to order one set per hub. Once again, my apologies.
Do you have a question about this Trailer Hubs and Drum?
