Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this replacement inner slide for the Dexter DX 7.5L disc brake actuator. Has a 7,500 pound weight capacity. Now this is the replacement inner slide that'll fit into your existing outer housing of your Dexter DX 7.5L and the legacy UFP surge brake actuator. This inner slide is what we'll telescope inside the outer housing of your surge brake actuator upon braking.
And it applies force to the master cylinder to supply hydraulic pressure to apply the brakes on your trailer. This one here is designed for use with hydraulic disc brakes. If you notice on the back of the master cylinder here, they have this electric reverse lockout and that's to let you back up without actuating your trailer brakes. Basically this will wire to your reverse light circuit and the solenoid 00:00:51 activator automatically when you shift into reverse eliminates any pressure from going to your brakes to keep your brakes from being applied to your trailer. You notice on the very bottom here, I can show you right here. This is your complete master cylinder. It is a constructed of aluminum rather than plastic or steel, gives you increased strength and corrosion resistance.
And right up at the top here is where you would insert your brake fluid. This is where you install the brake fluid into the master cylinder. Does include the breakaway cable, you can see here. And on the front here, it does have this nice low-profile coupler latch to ensure easy, secure connection. It is an over center latch mechanism, which will only engage when the actuator is fully seated on a two-inch diameter hitch ball. And just to show you how that operates.
I happen to pull a two inch hitch ball here. And what you want to do first is it has this safety pin in here, is you pull out the safety pin just like that. And then that'll allow you to move this latch at the top, which will open it up, just like that. And then with it open, lift this up, you can see with it open like that. There's your two-inch ball and you go over the two-inch ball it'll drop into place.
You just push that latch down locks into place. And then for extra security, you want to take this pin, slide it back all the way through there, and that'll keep anybody from opening it. Even if they move the latch, that pin keeps it from opening. And then to remove it again, just take out your safety pin, slide your latch over, open it up, and it'll remove from the two-inch ball. Very easy to install and remove. And again, the ball size it fits is a two-inch diameter, weight capacity on this unit is 7,500 pounds. But that should do it for the review on this replacement inner slide for the Dexter DX 7.5L disc brake actuator with the 7,500-pound weight capacity.

Arrived on time, packaged well and excellent replacement part!
Easy to install and im in fl now and it worked perfectly
Thanks etrailer
Replacement actuator worked great and solved my braking problems.
Replaced damaged inner member on Nitro Z21 boat. had to relocate some holes but this is an excellent product and etrailer shipped fast. Thanks
Fit my 2015 skeeter boat trailer perfectly. Easy install and exact replacement for the factory P/N: 34043.
Product was correct fit and replacement but nowhere did it have dimensions which would have confirmed correct replacement…. The customer service rep was helpful but could not find it either.
Perfect replacement for my worn out actuator. Nice to be able to tow in confidence again.
Great support and everything on the order was correct and fit perfect!
After determining the cost of replacing the necessary components on my current 20 yo hitch, I decided to go with this brand new inner member. Everything is new and I don't have to disassemble and reassemble anything. Thanks etrailer.
Ordered a hitch that was never delivered. So I had to buy another one while you tried to find it... I ordered the second one and paid extra for two-day shipping and that one was delivered at the end of the fourth day! I asked for refund for the one that never showed only for you to tell me that I had to wait three more days to get a refund for an order I never received. I AM VERY DISAPPONITED!!
Installed perfectly
The product might work just fine, but the packaging was a I don’t care type of effort. I won’t be ordering from etrailer again. So that solenoid was jammed in the corner straight against the cardboard and banged against every hard service for the whole delivery trip. I wouldn’t be surprised if that stops working before it should.
Thanks. The correct part to replace the actuator on an original MC trailer for an MC P190. Despite how easy it looks in videos, removing the old one was VERY difficult. The new one slid in easily, though aligning the rigid brake line was a pain.
Product is good. the packaging was not box was broken open with fitting sticking out. I hope it works okay once installed

Excellent
After 12 years my actuator backup solenoid was bad and the damper was worn out and banging when I took off. I purchased the new inner member from etrailer at a great price and so glad I did. Received it fast and in perfect condition. I read and watched their videos, very helpful. Removal and replacement took about 2 hours and bleeding the brakes took about an hour. Brakes have been working like new for at least a year now. Thanks!
This is one company i can truly said Wow no playing around they shipped my order immediately!!!! Thanks etrailer
Replaced because our old one was leaking. Bought the same one easy to replace. We had a shop go through to get the air out of the lines other then that very pleased.

I'm glad we could get help with the upgrade, Robert!
Eric P. really took care of me and was very knowledgeable about the trailer parts I needed. I think e-trailer is a great outlet for these parts. I definitely will be ordering mare from you!

Its been great, no problems!
Worked great. Bled the brakes using a vacuum bleeder from Amazon and everything seems to be working good.
It would be nice if Dexter would improve the safety cable. Some shrink wrap around the cable bend (to prevent frayed wire strands) and a carabiner instead of a hook (to keep the hook from falling off the hitch) would be helpful.
Correct replacement that fit and operates as it should.
The Staff at etrailer are always very helpfull and knowledgeable. They let me know I could order the Actuator without the outter casing saving me an additional $20 and they had what I needed in stock and for the best price online.
Extremely fast delivery, Thank! Packaged very well. Have not install yet but have used etrailer in the past and worked out great!
This is a long story, but I hope it helps someone. I replaced the actuator on my Triton boat trailer 4 years ago or so but started having wheels overheat. The bottom line is that eTrailer's Dexter inner member is a fine piece of equipment - I didn't need to replace it again and hope to explain why in the paragraphs to follow.
When I replaced a 15-year old actuator, it was because I'd bought a 2006 Triton that was 6 years old in 2012. The previous owner had clipped the reverse line to the brake line solenoid requiring use of a manual key to back it up. No big deal. I did that for years and didn't feel it called for an actuator replacement just because of that. The trailer wheels overheated on my first trip home and subsequent trips to our lake. I thought it was a bad oil-bath system and changed it out to a sealed grease system. I kept having trailer wheel overheating problems but lived with it.
One day a few years ago, I had enough time on my hands to tackle the problem and decided to eliminate brake calipers as the issue. I replaced the calipers and put new pads in the brakes. While I was at it, I thought I'd go ahead and upgrade the actuator to eliminate it as a possible cause. I purchased one from eTrailer, and as I said earlier, it is still on the trailer and working great - I then had a working reverse solenoid that allowed me to back the boat without getting out to install the manual key. While doing the job, I flushed the brake lines, and bleeding the system was relatively easy. Overheating improved but didn’t go away. So, I continued to live with it thinking the UFP calipers were just inadequate but serviceable.
A year or two later, overheating kept getting worse. I took the calipers off, cleaned them up, saw that the brake pads were almost gone, replaced them, put everything back together and had tremendous overheating! By the way, bleeding the brakes was a bear; I couldn’t get an easy steady flow of brake fluid without making several tries. I seldom do this kind of work, so I thought I was doing something wrong. I kept at it and kept doing “test runs” of a few miles, only to have brief periods where the brakes were not hanging closed as they were dragging most of the time. I’d put the trailer up on jack stands, bleed the brakes again, spin the wheels freely, go back on the road and heat up the wheels. So, I thought it must be that the eTrailer actuator had gone bad after only a couple of years.
I ordered another one (the one I’m reviewing). With the brake line now disconnected on both ends to install the actuator, I thought I’d flush the brake line again. At this point with an open brake line, I had trouble getting brake fluid from the tongue to the axle. So, I tried sucking and pushing the fluid from rear to front – nothing! Went to the back of the trailer, and now fluid would not flow in that direction. PROBLEM IDENTIFIED! Finally, after years of putting up with overheating wheels, I had isolated the problem to the brake line. I know; I’m a dummy. But, in my defense, I only had time to get to the lake a couple of times a year until I retired a few years ago. The plug(s) in the brake line was in two spots: there is a rubber hose at the break-away tongue and another where the line transitions from the frame to the calipers/axle. Both were now plugged solid not allowing flow in either direction. From the time I bought the boat, fluid would flow towards the calipers but not release completely. It finally got bad enough that the fluid would not flow in either direction.
In the process, I got rid of the UFP calipers and installed an all new Kodiak kit on each wheel. I was about to replace the whole brake line, but found that replacing the two small rubber sections was all that was needed. Bleeding the brakes was a cinch. eTrailer was kind enough to take back the actuator and refund my money except for a small restocking fee. It’s more than a year later, and I now have a boat trailer I can tow anywhere without worrying about the wheels falling off. I guess what prompted me to write this is that while I was in the process of changing bearings and races a couple of years ago, I worked for hours trying to get the inner races installed only to learn through an eTrailer customer’s comments that the standard kit had changed a number of years ago – races for the inside increased in diameter by 1mm; and, the part number for the old race that would fit my wheel had a different part number by only the last digit. That helped me a lot, so I hope this story helps someone with trailer wheel overheating issues that seems to be a mystery that includes rubber brake lines somewhere in the setup. ###

Thanks for your review, Roy! We really appreciate you taking the time to share such a detailed account of your troubleshooting journey. It sounds like you uncovered a problem that many trailer owners might never think to check. Your experience with the deteriorated rubber brake hose sections restricting fluid flow could be incredibly helpful to others chasing wheel overheating issues. We're also glad our team was able to assist with identifying the correct bearing races and work with you on the actuator return. It's great to hear you've finally gotten to the root of the problem and are back to enjoying your boat trailer with confidence. I just had to replace the inner member on my Ranger a couple of months ago, the master cylinder finally went out on my old UFP, had a good 22 year run! What lake do you mainly get out on? I was just fishing a bass tournament this last weekend at Mark Twain Lake here in Missouri where I was introduced to the Buffalo Gnat, been on that lake hundred times, first time getting attacked. Have you ever ran into them?
