Question:

I have a bolt on brake actuator that needs to be replaced. Data stamped in the metal housing: Dexter - Model A60/A75/XR84 Is it possible to replace the actuator assembly inside the bolt on housing? If so, which product/model will slide in the existing housing?

Hey James, thanks for the information! To replace the inner member of your Dexter actuator we've got a couple of options depending on which one you actually have. The Model A60/A75/XR84 you have stamped on your is three different styles of brake actuators that work with disc or drum brakes.

The Replacement Inner Member for Dexter DX7.5L Actuator item # DX99FR is going to be the one you need if you have the A-60 or A-75 like the Dexter item # DX89FR you were looking at. This works with disc brakes, fits a 2" hitch ball, and has a 7,500 lbs capacity.

The Replacement Inner Member Dexter XR84 Actuator item # DX78CR will be the one you need if you have the XR84. It has a 8,400 lbs capacity and is used with single or tandem axle trailer's that have disc brakes.

Both of these will slide into the housing you have. I just want to make sure we don't drop your capacity or give you a disc brake actuator if you're running drums.

How heavy is your trailer, how many axles do you have, and do you have disc brakes?

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.
