DeeMaxx Trailer Brakes - DE42FR

  • Stop Smoother and Shorter: Disc design delivers safer, more consistent braking than drum setups.

  • Easy, Low-Maintenance Setup: Slip-on rotors fit over standard idler hubs—no need to replace the full hub.
  • Simple Install and Bleed: Laser-etched instructions on calipers remove guesswork during setup or service.

Features to know about

Upgrade Old or Weak Brakes: Slip-On Disc Kit for Smooth, Confident Stopping

If your current brakes are dragging or worn, the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit (DE42FR) gives a big boost in control and safety. The slip-on rotors fit right over standard idler hubs and use your existing wheel bolts, so there’s no need to change the hub-and-rotor assembly. Ceramic pads and a stainless steel piston deliver strong, responsive braking that feels smooth and consistent every time.

Built to Resist Rust and Corrosion: Maxx Coating for Long-Term Durability

Braking systems take a beating in wet or salty environments. DeeMaxx’s Maxx coating on the rotors, calipers, and brackets holds up for more than 1,000 hours in salt spray tests—outlasting zinc and Dacromet finishes. Drainage holes in the rotor hat let water escape quickly, preventing trapped moisture and internal corrosion. This protection keeps your brakes performing their best in both fresh and brackish water.

Keeps Cool Under Load: Vented Rotors Prevent Fade

Heat buildup causes brake fade and faster pad wear. DeeMaxx vented rotors move air through the rotor to shed heat fast, keeping braking performance consistent when towing heavy or on long grades. The extra drainage holes also help disperse both heat and moisture for cooler, longer-lasting operation.

DIY-Friendly Design: Simple Install and Easy Maintenance

This kit is built for easy upgrades. The rotors slip on over your existing hubs, the brackets bolt right up, and laser-etched instructions on the caliper make bleeding straightforward. Each kit includes everything needed to add disc brakes to one axle—two slip-on rotors, calipers, and mounting brackets—and requires a hydraulic actuator rated at 1,500 psi or higher (sold separately).

Built Strong for Reliable Performance: 3,500-lb Axle Rating with 7-Year Warranty

Designed for everyday dependability, this automotive-grade system fits 3,500-lb axles with a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and 1/2" wheel bolts. With its corrosion-resistant Maxx coating, durable construction, and a 7-year warranty, it’s made to deliver safe, smooth braking season after season.

As far as I can tell they are working fine. When you back up don’t forget to put in the manual lockout as the brakes kick in and you’ll be going nowhere. No problem installing and they still look great.

@Shane That is great to hear Shane. What trailer did you replace these on?

by:

Great brake system, starting to rust now but I dunk my trailer in saltwater 4 times a week. Thank you George J and team for quick shipping and maintaining contact even a full year after initial sale. Will be using etrailer for future purchases!

by:

They do not come with the mounting bolts to mount the idlers to the rotors is not included, the cost is about $10 per pair. Surprised they are not included, you would think it would be turn key with all of the parts and not have to go shopping for additional mounting bolts.

by:

They have a good quality appearance. I couldn’t figure out what the 1” rubber grommet is for..?

Fast Shipping, the brake kit is super easy to install and is working great.

by:

I have used these brakes on a boat trailer that is used in saltwater and so far it has been working with a small amount of corrosion. I think they will be good for another couple of years but will replace with stainless steel next time.

by:

Great jod, well done.

by:

I wasn’t sure what parts would fit my trailer so I called for information. Ashley L directed me to the correct disk brake kit which turned out to be the exact fit. A relatively easy install and now I’m back on the road again.

by:

Works great, easy to install. One improvement would be to include the hardware (bolts, nuts, washers) I had to make two trips to the hardware store. I gladly would’ve paid to have the hardware shipped with the brake set.

by:

Very nice, wish it came with coated mounting bolts also

by:

The calipers and brackets were original from 2018. Couldn’t get any more time out of them due to corrosion. I have coded the new ones with Cora seal and a few coats of zinc and rust oleum hoping I will be able to get a few more years out of them only time will tell.

by:

I did not receive the 7/16 bolts that mount the caliper bracket to the axle I would not think I would have to use the old bolts there are six or seven years old to remount the bracket which I think would be absolutely absurd. That would be like put in a rocket into space and then when it comes back not rebuild the engine and send it back up why would you do that just saying. I feel that if I bought all of that Hardware meaning the brakes and whatnot but the bolts would be included

  • What Is Included With The DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit DE42FR?
Hello Jerry, cool car! I see you were looking at the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE42FR. This is a disc brake kit intended for a trailer with a standard 3,500 lb axle. It has slip-on rotors that will work with an idler hub for a 3,500 lb axle like part # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K. The kit includes rotors, calipers, caliper brackets and brake pads. This is typically not something we recommend for motor vehicles. These parts are designed for non-turning, non-driving trailer axles. I have heard of...

  • Replacement Disc Brakes and Actuator for Magnum Boat Trailer
Hey Michael! It sounds like that is a UFP H-1377 which would be a 3,500 lb hub using the standard bearing combination. I'm guessing you have slip on rotors based on that information. If you want to use the existing hubs the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE42FR is the best option. If you want to go ahead and replace everything I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brakes # KOD87FR which cost a little bit more. Disc brakes are always on the higher end, these are the most budget friendly available. I don't...

  • Disc Brakes for 2022 Road King Boat Trailer With Dexter Vortex Hubs
Hey David! For a disc brake conversion I recommend the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE42FR. These are designed to fit a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern and are rated for 3,500 lb axles. Make sure this matches your axle capacity. They are also compatible with your Dexter Vortex hubs. This is a pair of brakes so you will need a quantity of two with tandem axles. For a surge brake actuator I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout # DM62VR. You will also need the Kodiak Hydraulic...

  • Looking For New Disc Brake Kit For 2020 Continental Boat Trailer
Hey Ryan, thanks for reaching out. We certainly should have a disc brake kit that will work for you, but there is no way to know exactly what kit you will need based on the make and model of trailer. Trailer manufacturers just do not make this kind of info available online. Specifically, I will need to know your axle weight capacity, and your inner/outer bearing sizes. This way we can be sure you get the right brake assembly, and correct hubs for your trailer. For example, what we see...

The DeeMaxx item # DE86VR won't because of the spacing on the mounting bracket but I have a caliper that will. To replace your Tie Down Engineering 46304 caliper you will need the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper item # KDBC225DAC.

Hey Nicholas, thanks for reaching out! The rotors in the E-Coat Dexter Disc Brake Kit # K71-633-2 are being discontinued so even if we had everything else available separately in a different kit I'd recommend going with a different disc brake kit so you can easily find replacement parts in the future. I actually recommend using the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE42FR instead because it has the Maxx coating which is far more resistant than other coatings that calipers and rotors have. The...

Hi Steve; are your brakes DeeMaxx? If they are, you can use the Replacement Guide Bolt and Sleeve Assembly for DeeMaxx 3,500-lb to 8,000-lb Disc Brakes # DE85FR. If you have something else let me know, most parts for disc brakes are brand specific but there are a few exceptions.

  • Which Side of Spindle Should DeeMax Trailer Disc Brake Install On DE42FR
Hey Kevin, you would want to have the calipers on the front side or the rear side of the axle of the kit part # DE42FR. This is to allow the brakes to be easier bled since the bleed valve would be pointed up to allow the air to rise up and out.

  • Who Makes The DeeMaxx Brakes
Hey, Shane. All DeeMaxx parts are made and produced by DeeMaxx. They are not owned by Dexter like some brake brands are. I was really impressed with the attention to detail the company had when we first started to carry their products. They really care about everything from performance to packaging, ensuring the brakes arrive to you unscathed. If you need some for a 3,500 lbs axle, part # DE42FR would be the best fit for you. What kind of trailer are you working on?

Hey James, we can help but we don't have the complete kit you are looking for as a single part number. For the slip on rotor brake kit you'd want the part # DE49YR. You'd need two of these since you have a tandem axle trailer. Then for the actuator you would need the part # DE77SR and then for the brake line kit part # DE57SR and you'd be set. If instead you were wanting hub/rotors that were integrated you'd want the part # DE68YR instead of the # DE49YR.

These brakes have a 5 bolt flange, an 8 on 6 1/2 bolt pattern, and will work with 7k axles with wheels 16" or larger. You're also going to need a brake line kit # DM5425, an actuator # HBA16, and the lug nuts # CE11051.

Hey Paul, since you are going to need to use a DeeMax mounting bracket for the mounting of the calipers so that it lines up properly with the rotor you are best off getting the DeeMax 3,500 lb disc brake kit part # DE42FR instead of just the rotor and caliper.

Hello Bruce; I wasn't able to find out what kind of axle or bolt pattern you have on your 2022 ShoreLand'r YAV46TELWMS1-00 so you will need to identify it to see if these will fit. Both of these DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kits are designed to fit a standard 3,500 axle with idler hubs that have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. There are some kits that come with slip-on rotors like part # DE42FR, and the rotors could be removed without removing the idles hub and bearings.
