Today on our boat trailer, we're going to be installing the Fulton Marine Grade Carpeting, 8 inches wide by 144 inches long. Part number FCR8008. To begin our install, we'll remove the older manufacturers bumps with the old carpeting. Then we'll go ahead and show you how to install the carpeting on new wood. To remove it, we'll just pull out the fasteners that secure it through the steel and into the wood. We do recommend that you use new fasteners because over time they'll rust out. Go ahead and take a roll of our carpeting and cut it to length.
My preference is to have plenty that I can roll it over the end, to create a nice soft corner. Once we have our length cut, we'll go ahead and center up the board. We'll use some stainless steel staples to secure the carpeting directly to the board. Next we'll need to cut the ends. We're going to extend out the corner. Then we're going to take the sides, and cut off about an inch.
Now I can roll the sides in, secure them with a couple staples, and then take our end, bring it over, and secure it. With one end done, go ahead and repeat the same process on the other end. Now we're really to install the new bump. Keep in mind, no matter whether your boat is 24 inches long or 144 inches long, we'll repeat the same process. That'll do it for the install of the Fulton Marine Grade Carpeting, 8 inches wide by 144 inches long, part number FCR8008 on our boat trailer install today. .
