Bolster-and-swivel-bracket assemblies are typically mounted upright on a boat trailer's crossmembers. They allow a mounted bunk board, which runs from the front of the trailer to the back, to tilt to accommodate and support boat hulls of different sizes. On kayak trailers, these brackets are mounted to the trailer's frame and support bunk boards that run across the trailer.

Galvanized Steel

Steel parts are galvanized by being hot-dipped in zinc after they have been stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding.

Video Transcript for CE Smith Boat Trailer Parts - Roller and Bunk Parts - CE10000G-4 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number CE10000G-4. This is the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies. You're going to get a total of four assemblies. It's going to allow you to install two bunk boards onto your boat trailer. One of the neat things I want to point out is that here on the surface of the bracket it's going to have a dimpled surface. This is going to help prevent the brackets from sliding along the trailer frame. This portion of the bracket is going to make contact with your trailer frame. Your bunk boards are going to get attached to the top right here.

If our trailer frame is running front to back this would go just as shown and then you'd be able to tilt that bunk board as needed in order to fit the whole of the boat. You can see here that it's going to have the elongated mounting slots. These are going to allow as much as three and three-quarters of an inch of height adjustment during the installation. Each bolster bracket is going to install vertically on your boat's trailer frame with the U-bolt kit. Those are going to be sold separately but you can find those right here on our website. At the top of the bracket is going to be a strong swivel bracket. This is going to let you tilt the bunk boards as needed so again it's going to help you fit your particular boat during the loading process.

The hardware to attach the swivel bracket is already included. It's going to be loosely installed. You'll just need to tighten that down. I did not tighten it down because it's a nylon lock nut and I did not want to break that seal. The actual brackets are going to made from 11-gauge galvanized steel so they are designed to stand up really well against rust and corrosion. These are suitable for salt-water exposure. CE Smith is going to make this product fully in the U.S.A.

Again, with this part number you're going to get four bracket assemblies. Two on each side of your trailer. That way you can install two bunk boards to fit your particular application. The overall height that this is going to give us is going to measure about 9 inches. The dimensions of the bolster bracket, we'll take a look at that real quick. Just going to go ahead and move the other ones to the side so we can focus on one right here. Measuring just the long bracket, that's going to give us a length of 8 inches.

These mounting slots, these are going to give us a length of 2-3/4 of an inch each. They're going to give us a width of a half inch and the spacing in between the slots, that's going to measure a half inch as well. When it comes to the swivel bracket, this portion right here is going to give us an overall length of 3-1/2 inches. Overall width is going to measure 1-3/8 of an inch. The overall height is going to measure 2 inches tall. The pre-drilled holes on those brackets are going to have a diameter of 3/8 of an inch. The measurement that we have separating the two center on center, that's going to measure 2-1/2 inches. That's going to do it for today's review of part number CE10000G-4. These are the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies. .

These brackets were a great universal solution to adding a second PWC to a lift we have. I purchased the eTrailer U-Bolts to install onto the 2”x2” square lift pipe, worked great! This product shipped quickly and arrived sooner than expected. I would recommend this product for anyone looking to install additional bunks on a trailer or lift. 561389

I'm going out on a limb and giving this 5 stars. The product came quickly and was package exceptionally well if not overly protected. The most important rating with these things is long term durability and only time will tell if the galvanized process holds up but I have no reason to think it won't. 571318

The Bolster Brackets are exactly what I ordered. However, they are galvanized products and come w/zinc plated hardware. This creates a situation where the hardware will rust (& freeze) far before the brackets do as any boater would understand. This renders adjustments to your trailer and/or the replacement of parts a difficult task. Solution: offer the brackets w/galvanized hardware or at least offer the option in something other than "small print." 201895

The swivel brackets were exactly as described, and etrailer upgraded my shipping for free. I had them in 4 business days instead of the 5-7 I paid for. One suggestion for etrailer for these particular items: You should include 2 sets of bolt, nut and washer for each of the bracket kits, as well as a washer for the nut and bolt that was included for the swivel piece. It is a bit annoying to have to run to the hardware store for a bag of hardware to mount this on my trailer. I also screwed the brackets on to the bunk boards with lag bolts, but those are a personal preference. 172828

First off, I want to say that the products that I ordered from etrailer.com were of high quality and were easy to install, and lets not forget about the fast shipping and my favorite - the personal touch added to the email communications where each one is signed by a human (rather than something generic). My project itself entailed replacing the two (original) vertical mount 4' bunks on my boat trailer (see the attached pictures). These were set-up to hold a 15' sailboat. I recently purchased a 12' (plastic) jon boat, and I felt that the jon boat needed better support on the trailer so that it didn't warp or dent. After doing a lot of research, I decided to go with two horizontal mount 6' bunks. They were pre-finished at a cost less than if I were to purchase the individual components (wood, glue, carpet, staples, etc.) and do the assembly work myself. Attaching the hardware and mounting them to the trailer was a snap - see the attached pictures for the finished setup. 126130

this has happened again. I can't rate a product that should last years the minute it gets in my hand. The pieces LOOK good. The shipping was timely and the price was fair none of which tells me or you how good the product IS. Get back after two years of dunking in fresh and salt water and I'll give an honest review. 546112

Ask the Experts about this CE Smith Boat Trailer Parts

Do you have a question about this Boat Trailer Part?

  • How Many Bolster And Swivel Brackets Are Needed For A Boat Trailer
  • I spoke with my contact at CE Smith, and they said the Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assembly for Boat Trailers, like part # CE10000G, do not bear the weight of the boat. The U-bolt that attaches the brackets to the trailer frame support the weight of the boat. There should be a bracket attached to each cross member of the trailer frame. If you are buying several brackets, I would recommend part # CE10000G-4. This is a set of 4 of the 9 inch adjustable brackets. If you need longer adjustable...

  • How To Convert a Boat Trailer from Center Rollers to Bunk Rollers
  • Yes, it is possible to switch from center rollers to bunk rollers on a boat trailer. For this, you will first need to remove the center rollers and then you can install a set of bunk rollers, part # CE27710 along with part # CE10000G-4 to support the hull. Then, in order to support both the port and starboard sides you can use part # CE27600. I have attached a photo of a similar setup with bunk boards instead of bunk rollers for the hull. • How To Choose the Correct Roller or Carpeted Bunk Boards for a Trailer
  • The size of bunk board or bunk roller you will need for your boat trailer is based off the hull size. Therefore I recommend using the same size that the trailer came with but it wouldn't hurt to go a bit longer if you have room. • Bunk Options for a Magic Tilt Boat Trailer
  • I wasn't able to find bunk information for your trailer, but we have several options for replacement bunks for a boat trailer. For wooden bunks we have products like the part # CE27840 which are 6 foot long carpeted bunks. For brackets you could use the part # CE10000G-4. For roller bunks we have the # DL21741 which is a 5 foot long section of roller bunk. For a mounting bracket the part # DL21742 would work great.

  • I recommend the CE Smith Bolster And Swivel Mounting Brackets, part # CE10000G-4. These are 9 inches long and have a swivel feature that enables you to tilt the bunks to the correct angle to fit the bottom of your boat. We also carry the mounting U-bolts to attach the brackets to the trailer frame. They vary in size and you will want to choose the correct ones based on the frame size of your trailer. I have attached a link to our product page for the U-Bolts we carry. All of these come...

  • Do the CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards Come Pre-Drilled for Installation
  • The carpeted bunk boards, # CE27840, come without any holes drilled so you would need to drill to attach brackets and/or directly to the trailer. The reason they are not pre-drilled is because different trailers have different mounting location requirements and CE Smith would not be able to pre-drill for every application. You can use the bolster brackets # CE10000G-4 to mount these bunk boards.
