Features to know about

Lower Deck Height for Easier Loading: 4" Drop Spindles Make a Difference

A tall trailer deck can make loading and unloading a hassle. This axle’s 4" drop spindles bring the deck closer to the ground, making it easier to move gear or equipment on and off. The underslung design—with spring seats welded to the bottom of the 2-3/8" diameter steel tube—keeps the leaf springs mounted securely while maintaining a stable, low center of gravity for confident towing.

Smooth, Controlled Tracking: Engineered Camber for Even Tire Contact

Uneven tire wear and wandering on the road usually point back to axle geometry. The bend built into this 89" long round axle creates the right camber angle so your trailer tires meet the pavement evenly across their tread. That means better straight-line acceleration, steady handling, and a smooth ride mile after mile under the rated 3,500-lb capacity.

Maintenance Without the Mess: E-Z Lube Spindles with Grease Zerks

Repacking bearings doesn’t have to be a teardown job. Each spindle is drilled for the E-Z Lube system with a grease zerk right at the tip. When used with E-Z Lube-compatible hubs and caps, you simply connect a grease gun and pump in fresh grease until the old grease flows out. It keeps both inner and outer bearings lubricated and saves hours of messy work.

Built to Last and Ready to Customize: High-Strength Steel with Welded Components

The high-strength steel beam comes ready with welded brake flanges, spindles, and spring seats spaced 74" on center. That means it’s ready to fit standard suspension hardware and can also serve as a solid foundation for custom setups. The simple, durable design gives you the flexibility to build or replace an axle that can handle years of towing without compromise.

Its has been year and I have had no issues at all with the replacement axle! The dexter axle it replaced was put into service in 1990. I believe this will last just as long!

Had to cut off the mounts and re-weld since it didn't fit my trailer perfectly. However it was the best option for me and the product was just as described.

The axle has been working great! I am pleased with the purchase.

I build custom trailers. I have been doing so for 50+ years. etrailer has consistently been the second cheapest supplier of axles, springs, hangers, hubs, and etc. that we have been able to locate. When you see the difference in quality that etrailer has you'll be buying the second cheapest too! These guys only offer one kind of quality - the EXCELLENT kind. Of the 8 or so trailers that I have in the road 24/7; 100% of them were made from etrailer components! Highly recommended!

I received the items in a very timely fashion and in great shape. I torched off the old U bolts and removed the axle. I removed the new spring seats using a cut off wheel in my grinder and moved them inward one inch on each side, then MIG weld the new ones on they lined up perfectly to the old ones. I then installed the new U bolt kit and torqued them down to 65 foot lbs. The old bearings were only one year old and reused them after cleaning. I installed new seals at this time. The brake pads were same age as bearings showing little wear. The old axles were not Dexter axles and rusted from the inside out then broke off by the drop.. I replaced both. Was a pleasant experience and would do it all over again.

  • How To Choose Correct 3,500 Lb Axle for Slipper Spring Setup
In order to determine which axle is correct for your trailer we need to find out what your hub face (HF) and spring center (SC) measurements are. If you take a look at the photo I have attached for you that should then help with obtaining the above two measurements. The most important thing we need to look for is the hub face as the spring center can then be moved (within a range) if we need to. I have attached a list of the 3,500 lb axles we offer in the varying hub face and spring center...

To confirm if the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindles # 8327812 will work with your 2022 Forest River R-Pod 202 or not, you're also going to need to verify that your spring seat-to-spring seat measurement is 74". It also wouldn't hurt to measure the hub-face-to-hub-face as well, to ensure that your axle is 89" long. Additionally, this axle has a 4" drop, but if you didn't need a drop axle, then you could also use the: -Trailer Axle Beam with Easy Grease Spindles...

Sorry but the closest axle we have to the dimensions you listed is the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindles item # 8327812. It's got a 89" hub face though and the spring seats sit at 74". The only other solution I would have is an axle-less system like the Timbren item # ASR3500S04.

  • How do I Change to Kodiak DB35 Brakes on My 2001 Ranger Tandem Axle Boat Trailer?
Hi Mike, I'm happy to help you get the right parts for your trailer. Based on my research, your 2001 Ranger tandem axle trailer likely has two 3,500-lb axles. You will want the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K (you will need one per wheel), then you would slip on the brake set-up # K2R35D (per axle). Regarding the axle, are you looking to replace it with a torsion axle that bolts right up to the frame, or are you just...

The # 8327826-EB has an 86-1/2 inch hub face to hub face dimension, which means it would only be 3/4 of an inch longer on each side which should still work well for you. The spring seats are 71-1/2 inches apart, but they could easily be removed and new ones could be tacked in place using part # TRSS300 which are sold individually. Yes you can add brakes to trailer axles that have a drop built into them like the Dexter # 8327812 which has a 4 inch drop as the axle has mounting flanges for brake assemblies built in to it. You'd want the Dexter brake assembly set part # 23-468-469 which is a set that includes a left and a right assembly that is self adjusting.
