This harness uses a powered converter that draws power directly from the vehicle’s 12-volt battery instead of the tail light circuits. Some trailers use LED lights, which can cause problems on non-powered systems due to lower resistance. Once installed, the 4-flat connector gives you the standard trailer lighting functions—running lights, turn signals, and brake lights—all in one easy plug. It’s compatible with most small and mid-size trailers, so you can hook up and go without extra adapters or modifications.
A built-in fuse holder and single-prong grey connector make it easy to tie into the vehicle’s power source under the hood. The ring terminal connects straight to the positive battery post for a solid connection, while the fuse holder protects your system from power surges. The connector for the harness attaches behind the rear bumper. The included yellow wire with a fuse holder connects under the hood — one end plugs into the power wire connector on the driver side in the engine compartment, the other end connects to the positive battery terminal.

It shortened out and blew fuses in my truck so I had no turn signals and flashers. About a month ago I had to purchase another one and installed it. Easy to install but thought it would last longer.

The product fit perfectly as stated. Made the job very easy. My only reasons for not giving it a 5 star are 1 the kit did not come with any dielectric grease nor a picture showing where the 12v factory connection was, I found that on another site ( Its right next to the bsttery ).But as far as fit and ease of insulation I would give it a 5 star.
Good afternoon, I receive my order, but the box came in tour ripped looked damaged I’m checking to see if all the parts are in good shape at this moment.
Quick shipping. Easy installation. Haven't had a chance to use it with a trailer yet, but it appears to be working after checking it with my test light. Took longer to move the battery, route and secure the cables under the hood than to actually plug both pieces in as directed by the instructions. Total install time was about 90 minutes.
Curt trailer wiring kit has good connectors and was easy to install into factory setup on my Tundra.
Why is it when I order a 50lb hitch, I receive it in world class 1 day time. When I order 1/2 lb wiring harness it takes longer than the pony express 8 day time. Products have always been first class and shipping usually is first class as long as the wiring is ordered with the hitch.
After tons of problems and hours of install, troubleshooting and repairs to my previous trailer and truck wiring, I finally ordered the exact fit 'plug and play' version of the wiring kit to replace the splice-in type from local auto parts store. It took about 15min. total to install in the dark. Where instructions were slightly too brief, etrailers website video clarified. Lights on trailer are brighter than they've ever been, previous bad grounding problem is solved and I'm looking forward to the fuse protected circuit saving me from buying more replacement converters in the future.
