Hey neighbors, it's Dustin here at etrailer, and today I've got the CURT Coiled Safety Cables. The coiled design is nice because when not in use, you can see we're not dragging the ground here, but when you are ready to use it it's easy enough to stretch over and hook on to the safety chain loops of your hitch. Our braided cables have a nice nylon coating, which if you've ever worked with braided cables you know sometimes they can get metal splinters on 'em, and that's no fun on your fingers. So this is really good to have. Also here, our S-hooks have a gate on them to help keep them in place, and they are zinc coated to help reduce rust and corrosion over time. The overall length of the cables when fully stretched out is 42 inches, which is gonna be great for most trailer and truck combinations or whichever tow vehicle you happen to have.
But if you do find yourself coming up a little short, there are extensions available here at etrailer. One final thing to keep in mind when hooking up any sort of safety cables is you're gonna wanna, if you have the opportunity, connect the driver's side of your trailer to the passenger side on your vehicle and vice versa. What that's gonna do is create a cradle underneath. So in the event of a catastrophic disconnect, your trailer's tongue won't just slam to the ground, it'll be caught by that cradle and prevent any further damage. Now they don't come with an attachment point for your trailer side, so that's one thing to keep in mind when you're going to install them.
If you don't already have a D-link or possibly some bolts where your previous ones we're attached, you'll need to pick that hardware up. You can get that here at etrailer. We have plenty of D-links to choose from. One thing to keep in mind when choosing a D-link is you want to pick one that's rated as high or higher than your safety cables because the lowest rated component is always the number to go with. So, what you'll do is on our trailer here particularly, we've got a welded on bracket here that we've got our D-link on already, and we're able to just place our safety cables on there and tighten this down.
And with those D-links, after you get it hand-tight, I always recommend coming back with an adjustable wrench and giving it maybe a half turn or so, so it's nice and snug. Then our safety cables are installed, and they're ready to hook up. So whether you've got a new trailer that's in need of some safety cables or you've got some old rusty ones you wanna replace, the CURT Rated Safety Cables with S-hooks are gonna be you a great option for you.

First, using coiled cables avoids adjusting chains so they don't drag on the highway. Second, the S hooks are MUCH easier to attach and remove from the hitch on my RAV4. Previously had coiled cables with clevis hooks. They convinced me to stick with coiled cables, but the heavier hooks were harder to manage on my RAV4.
These are my favorite style of safety connections. I prefer these over most safety cables and chains. I would definitely purchase again!
OEM cables had gotten frayed from getting caught under the hitch at the bottom of my steep driveway. Got tired of stabbing myself handling them, so I replaced them. This was an exact replacement, and took all of 20 minutes to install. Only took that long because I had to removes the trailer jack/wheel to get the bolt for the cables out.
The skid plate on my trailer jack quite literally saved my life! To make a long story short, my trailer came loose from my tow vehicle at 65 mph and the skid plate on the trailer jack functioned perfectly preventing the trailer jack from digging into the pavement. When I inquired about replacing this skid plate, your company generously sent me a new skid plate at no charge. In return I mailed the old one back for your R & D people to see what it looked like after performing it's job. Thank you.

Fantastic, as stated in my first review, the skid plate worked as designed and prevented a serious accident. I hope to NEVER have the opportunity to test the jack stand skid plate ever again. Thanks for a great product. KB :

Easy to install and use.
I put these on a lightweight aluminum trailer. What I like about them is they coil up when the trailer is not in use. So they don’t lay in the snow or on the ground. Seem to be well made.

Still working great. Stay coiled up when not in use.
The Quality appeared good upon receipt. These were installed on a boat trailer to replace the original safety chains that started looking rough. The vinyl coating should protect the cables for many years to come. Everything is performing to my expectations so far.
Purchased these cables a year ago for a load rite boat trailer. They have held up well and work as expected
Everything I purchase from this company is outstanding. Never a problem, shipped on time, never disappointed. A+ customer service too. Great company.
I purchased the Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms - Car Mount - 2" Ball - 5,000 lbs. initially I was Leary of the product because of its low price compared to other tow bars. I now can say my concerns were needless because after flat towing my Wrangler over 5,000 trouble-free miles I have nothing negative but only positives to report. The best thing I like about the tow At is that it only takes 5 minutes to attach and unhook.
Item is a heavier gauge than expected, much better build quality. These are replacing the chains that dragged and ground off on our trip to PA. They coil back into their spool nicely. Well worth the money spent, I plan on getting another set to replace the chains on my utility trailer next!

A year later and they are still going strong. Still coil back into their coils nicely! Love that they dont drag on the ground like chains do.
I bought all of my products for flat towing my 2014 Jeep Cherokee for etrailer and I couldn’t be happier. The service was exceptional, the pricing was right, and when I did have a problem, they were right there to take care of it. When I need more goodies for the RV, I will be back!!!!
Our old chains dragged on some dips but these do not and they are good quality and easily clip to hitch Every time we hook up the trailer I am glad I bought them
Easy to install. Never used in an emergency. The cable has considerable coil memory. It retains a coiled-up shape. This makes it a bit difficult to stretch to connect.

Performed well the first year. No problems.
The safety cables work well. The hooks seem a bit small for my Father's safety attachments on his Ford F150. They fit just right on my Ram 1500.
The fit was perfect.
Thankfully, the tow bar that I purchased has done it's job and these cables have not had to be used.
These cables were easy to install and feel very sturdy. I installed them on a small tent trailer. My only concern is because they are coiled I am always worried they will get pinched in the hitch because they don't hang down from the trailer. I have used the trailer several times in the last year since installing them and it hasn't happened yet. As always, etrailer.com has top notch customer service!
staff was outstanding all the way through.................best regards, jackson
Awesome safety cables. Length is great and I really like the coil feature. I deal with a fleet of vehicles and small trailers, so getting drivers to hook them up properly every time is tough. These safety cables will save me a lot of work since they won't drag. I can't tell you how many plugs and chains I've repaired. This will help solve the problem.
Always order from etrailer and always get just what I needed and never disappointed.
Replaced 2 safety cables of which one had already snapped and the other not far from it. Looking close to home didn't produce what I needed so again to to E-trailer and the exact items as OEM. Ordered and shipped right away. Haven't mounted yet as I have a bad head cold but did measure against one old cable and they are right on.
Excellent quality, easy to install, arrived quickly. I have a break-a-away trailer and these safety cables are 40 inch, I should have purchased 48 inch.
Use as safety cables between the tow bar and tow vehicle. Easier, cleaner and quieter than chain.
