Video Transcript for All About the etrailer Swivel Jack with Bolt-On Mounting Plate

Hi Matt, the etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the etrailer swivel jack. Now this is gonna be a great option if you're looking for either a replacement for your swivel jack kit that stabilize the back end of your trailer or you're just looking for jack for the front end of your trailer to keep its supported off the ground. This is gonna be a great jack for your moderate two smaller sized trailers and that's because this is gonna be rated for 3000 pounds. Now with this type of design, it's not gonna be any type of electric, so that's part of the reason why I don't recommend those larger-sized trailers as well. But it's also gonna come with two ways of mounting it to your trailer.

So it's gonna come wrong with one of those tubes that you weld onto the trailer itself. Instead, if you want to go with the bolt-on application, it is gonna come with it and it's super easy to do in comparison. So that's why I really like about this kit. It does give you both options. So far today handling this, this has felt pretty smooth to use going up and down.

Now keep in mind my trailer is unloaded so I don't have too much resistance here. But the other nice thing about this is it is a swivel jack so it can get out of the way. Now there's a lot of benefit to that style. Now just let me lift this up just a tad bit so it's off the ground and I can swivel it. I've got some of these jacks stands here to properly showcase that.

So this is nice because we don't have to worry about storing our jack somewhere else on our trailer or always being in the way. So I've got that pin removed here on the side. All I gotta do is rotate it like this, by 90 degrees, put that pin back through there and then it's gonna hold itself in place. Now we'll say sometimes that pin does have a little bit of resistance, but that's just that powder coat kind of being in our way since it is a new jack. But after a little bit of use that'll eventually kind of get outta your way.

It will secure down. Now one of the other benefits to this style is I can remove this completely. So if I wanna use this on a different spot of my trailer, I can do that. The only requirement I'm gonna have is I just need to make sure I have another mounting location like I have right here. So it's not a bad idea to grab a couple of these brackets and that actually kind of reminds me, we have another kit on our website where you can get two these jacks where you can put on the backside and with that kit, that's great. If you're loading a lot of different vehicles or smaller vehicles onto your trailer, you wanna make sure everything's stabilized. There's a smoother transition. Now let's talk about a couple of the specs to make sure that this jack is gonna be the right one for you and your trailer. This is gonna be rated for 3000 pounds for the lift capacity. So that's when you're actually jacking it up and it's gonna be rated 5,000 pounds for the support capacity. And that's really gonna come in hand when you are driving any type of vehicle on the back end of your trailer. and you're using this as a stabilizer. Now when it comes to how far this is gonna be able to go up, this is gonna be able to jack up a little bit over 15 inches. So that's how much travel it's gonna have. So this is gonna work great for a lot of different size trailers, but again, probably the moderate size trailers are probably gonna be on the larger size you can work with this. Other than that, there's not a whole lot to it. I think this is gonna be a great jack that's just gonna be easy to use and it has that swivel capability so it can even save you space on your trailer. And if you get a couple of the brackets, you can have other mounting locations for it. Now, when it comes to the installation, we're mainly gonna be focusing on the bolt on applications, since that's probably gonna be the easiest way of doing it. Now for that installation, it is important that you have this properly secured. So today I do have some of these jack stands that I'm gonna be using to keep it elevated and I'm gonna have it properly chalked. So let's start off the installation. We're just gonna grab our bracket and we're gonna find a place to put it on the frame of our trailer. Now in our case today, we already have some holes drilled out from what we've done in the past. But if you are still needing to drill it out, all you're gonna have to do is hold this bracket up to where you wanna mount it to. You're gonna grab some type of marker to mark the center where this hole is sitting. Do the same thing for the other side, and then you'll just grab a drill bit that you can actually find in the instruction. So it'll tell you what size to use for this and just drill this hole out. Once that's done though, then you can grab your hardware. That's gonna be this bolt and it's gonna have a flat washer, another flat washer, and a split washer. We wanna start by having one flat washer on it already. We're gonna put it on by pushing it through that hole. (screw clinking) Once that's through there, then we're gonna put the other flat washer and that split washer and this nut on the other side. So we're gonna grab a 19 millimeter socket wrench. And depending on your trailer, you might put the wrench on one side or the other. In my case, you might have the wrench on this side 'cause these bolts are super long. I have my socket wrench on the other side. And we're just gonna tighten this down and you are gonna have a torque setting for this in your instructions. So after we get this tight like this, we're gonna come back through, tighten it down some more to the torque settings in your instructions. Now that our bracket is fully secured, we're gonna take the jack and just test it out to make sure it's a good fit. So we're gonna start by putting that pin through here just like we did earlier. And when you're first installing this, something I notice is sometimes this powder coat's a little bit thick, so might give you a little bit of fighting, but you just turn it back and forth. You'll be able to get through all the way, and now we can ask you to chest side our jack to see if it's gonna work well for us or not. And once we have this high enough up, then we can just grab our jack, (stand clanking) move that out of here. And that's pretty much it. Now if you guys have any other questions, let us know here at etrailer. But again, I'm Matt and thanks are watching.

perfect height for the trailer

The holes on the male pipe are just slightly too tight for the pin due to the paint. An easy fix, but worth mentioning.

The jack just got here today and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. I didn't check with anyone on the cost to have the mount welded, but it would have added $50 to $100 to the cost. I was very impressed with the bolt-on mount and when you are working with tire carriers and tool boxes on that small tongue it is nice to have the ability to change a few inches or so. Thanks etrailer for a quality product.

  • What Comes With The etrailer Swivel Jack w/ Bolt-On Mounting Plate # e54RV
Hey Ed, The etrailer Swivel Jack w/ Bolt-On Mounting Plate # e54RV will come with the pin chained to it so that you can't lose it. I believe the instructions for this jack were prototype phase instructions and not final product where the pin was added and just haven't been updated to reflect that. Just the jack can be purchased with part # TJP-5002S-B, the mount can be with part # e52JR, and the pin is part # TJP-PN58. The # e54RV would include everything you need, even the mounting...

  • Jack for 2024 Boss GD20T24 Log Splitter
Hi Mark; I don't have the specs of the 2024 Boss GD20T24 Log Splitter but it looks like you're pretty limited on the tongue space. You may be able to use the etrailer Swivel Jack w/ Bolt-On Mounting Plate # e22ZV but I'm not 100% sure without more information. This fits trailer frames with a cross section depth of 3" or less and the mounting plate is only 5" wide. The distance between the mounting holes on the plate is 3-1/2" on center. You will need to see if that will work since I see...

  • Will etrailer Swivel Jack w/ Bolt-On Mounting Plate Fit 2" Wide Trailer Frame
Hi Tim; the etrailer Swivel Jack w/ Bolt-On Mounting Plate # e54RV fits trailer frames with a cross section depth of 3" or less. This means you will be able to install it on your 2" wide trailer frame. I agree, it is nice that it bolts on for a simple installation without the need to weld. • Can I Mount the etrailer Bolt-On Swivel Mounting Plate to the Jack Instead of the Trailer Frame?
Hello Lidia, Great question! It’s best not to use the bolt-on pipe mount # e52JR on the jack like # e54RV itself. The mount is designed to bolt onto the trailer frame, and then the jack slides into it. Mounting it the other way around can weaken the setup. I’d definitely recommend installing it as intended for the safest and most secure fit! What kind of trailer are you putting this on?
