For your 2013 Chevy Equinox you'll want the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # RM-523160-5. These base plates will connect to your Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 8K Item # RM-576 and the removable arms will provide a clean and unobtrusive look when not in use.
To flat tow your 2013 Equinox you'll also need a braking system, tow bar wiring kit, and safety cables. I have the following recommendations for you below:
Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-154. This wiring kit is a one time install that splices into the wiring of your vehicle and uses its tail lights to signal instead of having to run magnetic lights every time you want to tow your vehicle.
Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional
Item # HM39524. This braking system is a reoccurring setup but only requires a few minutes of your time and comes with a charge line kit to keep your battery charged while towing.
Safety Cables: Curt Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables with S-Hooks - 42" Long - 5,000lbs - Qty 2 Item # C80151. The coiled design of these cables prevents damage from dragging on the ground.
As per GM Technical Service Bulletin 17-NA-348, GM has identified 4-cylinder models of this vehicle as having steering instability issues while towing. If you have a 4-cylinder model of this vehicle, you will need a # RM-76517 instead of a # RM-76511, and will need to leave fuse DLIS #32 intact and pull the ABS module fuse located under the hood. Note: due to manufacturing variances, some 4-cylinder models may label the ABS module fuse as #15 or #16. This information is current as of November 20, 2017. Contact the vehicle manufacturer for further updates.
