Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Load: 1,500-lb Rear Suspension Support

When a heavy load presses down the back of your vehicle, steering and braking can get sketchy fast. These SumoSprings Solo helper springs add up to 1,500 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep things level and steady. They help your factory suspension carry the weight, reduce rear-end squat, and make sure your front tires keep good contact with the road so you stay in control when towing or hauling.

Side-by-side comparison of SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs in uncompressed and compressed states installed on a truck’s rear axle, showing how they support suspension and reduce sag under load.

Smooth Ride Over Bumps and Rough Roads: Progressive Load Control

Bumps, dips, and washboard roads don’t have to beat you up. The microcellular urethane springs soak up shocks and vibrations before they reach the cab. Their progressive design means they compress easily for lighter loads and firm up as weight increases—soft when empty, supportive when loaded. That way you get a comfortable ride whether you’re hauling supplies or driving empty.

Keep Handling Tight in Turns and Crosswinds: Independent Spring Action

Each spring works on its own side of the vehicle, so they help balance uneven loads and cut down on body roll. When a curve or crosswind pushes from one side, the springs resist sway and keep your ride planted. Even off-center cargo gets steadier handling and less rocking through turns or when a trailer shifts weight behind you.

Built Tough for Real-World Conditions: Maintenance-Free Urethane Design

These helper springs are made from durable microcellular urethane that stands up to oil, road salt, and UV rays. They work in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F without losing performance, and since they compress vertically with minimal side expansion, they fit tight spaces without rubbing nearby parts. No air lines or pressure checks needed—just install them once with a simple no-drill setup and hit the road knowing your suspension is ready for whatever you haul next.

Installation took about half an hour. The fifth wheel with a gvw of 15000# used to sink the truck box significantly. After installing the Sumo Springs there is a minimal sinking of the truck. I highly recommend!

They do a good job at supporting the the rear end of my F250 for towing my travel trailer. More affordable and simpler to install than air bags. I also installed the EZ lift springs. They work great together.

I would highly recommend etrailer, there customer service unsurpassed, great products, great company!

I waited 14 months and 16K miles (8K towing) to do this review. My experience started off poorly with a competing product which was the choice of etrailer’s automated helper—there is NO substitute for an actual person. I recommend using the automated systems to get ideas, then talk to a person. The first SumoSpring etrailer sent was the best of the standard options, but didn’t work well with my dually setup using Sulastic shackles. However, due to the tight partnership etrailer has with their suppliers, SumoSprings really went the extra mile to match my customized suspension needs. I now have a fantastic no maintenance system that rides superbly whether empty bed (soft), yet when towing squats less than “1/2 and is smooth with over 3K+ gooseneck pin weight added—this is hard to achieve. Honestly, I didn’t realize how hard this would be at the outset, but can now appreciate all the work SuperSprings did. I am sure they would do the same for any customer—so buy with confidence. Kudos to etrailer and SumoSprings.

2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Excellent product. Delivered on time. Very easy install. My '16 F250 squatted slightly with my camper on, sunk 2" at the factory jounce bumpers, and slightly swayed on curves. Problem solved. You may only need to slightly lift the truck by putting a car jack under the hitch, as I did. I only needed to raise mine 3-4" and no need to remove wheels. Also, it is easy to reattach the factory bumpers to a harmless location under the frame. So, if you sell your truck in the future you can easily find and reinstall the originals....and keep the Sumos for your next truck....if they fit.

Ford F-250 Super Duty
Fast customer service. I easily install them on the rear of my two thousand five F-250 4x4 with factory overload springs. Since installing it is a much smoother ride when unloaded and now only squats about 1 1/2 inches when pulling 7500+ pound camper. The hardest part about installing these was removing the factory bump stops.

I purchased the Sumo Springs due to rear end sag on my F-250. They pretty much fixed the problem which was caused by too-weak springs in the first place IMO. No change in the ride quality either loaded or unloaded detected. Prompt shipment & knowledgeable sales staff. Very helpful.

This is probably the best thing I could have done for my truck. The install was easy. Without these, the truck would drop 3 1/2 inches in the back with the RV on. Now only one inch. The truck is a 2015 F-250.

After a year of use, Im very happy with the Sumo springs. Much better ride and nobody flashes their hi beams at me anymore because the truck rides nearly level even with the weight of the 5th wheel on.

by:
Don’t even notice they’re there, meaning when they’re engaged the ride is still smooth and not stiff

2025 Promaster 2500 159” wheelbase. Backed the van on couple 2” X 6 “ easier sliding under. Sprayed PB Blaster on top of bumper spring, using a 16” Channel Lock, easy off with the old. At that time I jacked the rear end to allow clearance. One side at a time. Took longer for set up then the job. I used the long bolt with two spacers. Have not drove yet, though looking for great results.

Glad to hear the install wasn't too bad, Michael! Definitely let us know how the ride is once you take it out for a drive! What are you using your Van for? The tires look pretty beefy.

This only pertains to the order, shipping speed, and install as I have not put a heavy load on these sumo Springs yet but I feel like that's a foregone conclusion based off the reviews already. The ordering process, the shipping, and the installation was unbelievably easy. I kept rereading the instructions thinking this can't be right because it was so simple. I looked at the YouTube video and realized it is that simple! So happy with the ordering process, the quality of the initial product I opened, and how simple it was to put on the jeep.

That is the beauty of SumoSprings! Super easy to install and once they're on you can forget they're there! Are you planning on towing something with your Jeep that you want extra support for?

9/1/2026

@ClaireH yes Ms Claire. I plan to put a truck camper on the Jeep (that weighs in the 500-1000 lbs range). My payload is 1700 lbs so I know a camper of the weight will be significant my truck. Already ordered a stiffer rear anti-sway bar as well.

@Justin That sounds like a good plan! These SumoSprings plus the sway bar should be more than enough to handle the weight of your truck bed camper.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
I put these on a 2013 Jeep JK (not lifted) that tows a 3000 lb trailer in rough terrain; Total game changer.

These replaced the anemic factory stops (which had completely disintegrated) and make it impossible to 'bottom out' on the dips and holes that use to beat up the suspension. I got nearly all of my vertical travel back and the vehicle now sits almost level under high tongue load.

They go on pretty easy. I suggest sliding in one side, and then using a wooden dowel and hammer to pop the other side in the stock receiver cup.

Highly recommended. These are a MUST if you are towing a trailer (with a medium sized SUV) of any significant weight or if you just want to be able to bounce hard without bottoming out your suspension. I am likely going to get the front suspension version now as well.
Wish I knew these existed sooner.

2000 Nissan Leaf
Great product! Bought these for my 2000 7.3 f250. Didn't want something that is constantly active like ras or hellwig since my leaf springs are new and rated for 4k pounds. Installed these in 1 hr super simple only hard part was the factory bump stop on driver side was a pain. Didn't install the puck they give due to height of truck and I knew more or less at what point I wanted them engaging. I haul cattle to shows/ auctions or between pastures with my 24ft big bend and these things actually provided a smoother ride in my truck loaded then unloaded.they do a great job with the added support and are better than an overload spring with handling sway and providing a smooth ride loaded. Just wish I could use the 3k pound rated ones on this truck and my dually but doesn't fit if you have a gooseneck sadly so will probably have to go with timbs on the drw. Over all great product can't speak to longevity but solid for the time being. And customer service with this company is excellent if you have a question or problem they're on top of it...hope they pay them as well as the reputation they're building for them.

I put a set of 47s on my Silverado 1500 and towed my dump trailer that weighed 6000 pounds the way I had it loaded for 50 miles on all kinds of roads and it worked well. I didn’t use the spacers and the truck still rides like it did before the install.

Jeep Gladiator Mojave - swapped out the rear stock bump stops with these. High quality parts. Just jack up the truck enough to give you room to work with and put in your jack stands, no need to remove the wheels. I look forward to seeing how they do with towing! Hopefully I can update my review here afterwards. Check out the gap difference in the pictures. Should touch sooner during normal drive conditions and hopefully help reduce some trailer squat and help towing to be smoother.
by:
Opted for the Blue 1000lb Sumo's w/spacer over the 1500lb Black ones. 1500 Silverado Max Tow & reduces squatting by 2" on a 1000lb+ tongue weight. Ride is still good, but you can feel the Sumo's engage over large dips or bumps which is not an issue for me.

I got the springs installed last week and wanted to have a drive time before I wrote the review.

The height of the springs are perfect for my 2016 Tacoma, They keep the truck stable and nearly eliminate the body roll I had before installing them. I am heading to the mountains in a couple weeks, so I will update the review when I get back. That way I will know for sure the body roll is gone and the truck is stable on the winding mountain roads.

The springs installed in no time at all and since I had the rear end apart, I decided to add the leveling blocks at the same time, to keep the truck from squatting with the gear I haul around with me.

The guys at etrailer are great. And while I did not call them to discuss this item, they have been very helpful in the past with all my questions.

Below are pictures of before, a couple comparisons and after. Sorry if they come out sideways.

These Sumo Springs were a great addition to my Tacoma and well worth the money, IMHO.

The springs are working exactly as expect. I have need up to the mountains numerous times and to Monerary to the Sea Otter bike fest. They have reduced the body roll and helped keep the truck stable on the mountain roads or when loaded down for camping. Im very pleased I added these Sumo Springs to my Tacoma.

First, thanks for the kind words!
