How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Thule WingBar Evo on our 2023 Hyundai Tucson. Adding a roof rack system to your Tucson is a great solution to get those bigger, bulkier items out on the road with you, when you're loaded down with your full passenger capacity, that's gonna take up a lot of cargo space as well as the fact that just rolling off the line, it doesn't have a lot of cargo space, and this is gonna help solve that problem. The WingBar gets its name from the obvious shape here, where it's very similar to a airplane's wing where it's more wide and rounded at the front and it tapers off towards the back. What that does for you, that's gonna help it cut through the wind resistance a lot better and help with the noise that that are common and notorious with roof rack systems. Overall, with the height of this guy from the plate is gonna keep you at a pretty low profile compared to other rack systems and you have a little bit of hang over that's gonna allow you to tie off and take advantage of your channel slots without having to remove your foot. So in here you have a seven eighth inch T track that you can slide through the middle of your rubber fitting here and that'll still keep you from having that whistle that you get from the wind and still have like eyelid tie downs or any other channel mounted accessory.
Our fit kit is contoured to match up with the right raised rail on our Tucson and you can see there's no gap and this padded, this whole thick pad is gonna be what makes contact with your vehicle. The hook over here on the front is also making contact, but that is also a padded material, so it's going to protect the finish of your raised rail while making a solid connection to the roof. You have a plastic lock that you can switch out to a metal core to have metal keys with the plastic it's just as simple as twisting out like a flat screwdriver or a flat key, and this is where you make your adjustments to secure the carrier to the top of your vehicle. Overall, the installation for the WingBar Evo is super easy. Grab your tape measure and I'll show you how to get it installed.
I've already installed the rear crossbar for our roof rack, so I got a grip as far as how you put everything together and I'm gonna show you how to get it done. Essentially you're gonna do that, this same step four times. You're gonna take your tower and use your fit kit and assemble it together. So you're gonna go with the A portion and that's gonna fit right here over the bolt, the B that's gonna plug in the bottom of the pad and we're gonna add our C clamp that goes right around that bolt that's sticking out, and then we're gonna twist in our nut here. This is basically our set screw that's gonna hold our clamp into place.
So now that we have it assembled, we're going to take off our end cap by just pressing down on this tab. Sometimes you may need to use a screwdriver, but this one's been around our shop for a while, so it's a little looser, and we're just gonna align the top cleat with the channel on our crossbar. And from there we're just gonna replace our cap. Using the included measuring strip. You can make the adjustment as far as the spacing for your cleats, and now you can just install it on top of your rooftop.
We're gonna align our front crossbar with the B pillar and have my spread set at the measurement that I got previously. It's right at 30 inches. We're just gonna make sure we fasten everything down until we hear the click from our included tool. (tool clicking) Now we're nice and and secure. With our shake test completed, we're gonna place our cover and like that we have the installation completed, that ain't going anywhere. It's nice and secure. And this has been a look at the installation and some of the features of our WingBar Evo from Thule on our 2023 Hyundai Tucson. I'm Ed, this is etrailer and you have a great day.
