Question:
I am considering Thule Evo crossbars for my 2016 Subaru Imprezza Sport wagon for carrying two kayaks. Can these bars be used with my current Rhino Rack S512 carriers and extensions? I may want to also transfer these crossbars to my new 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited, recognizing that I will need different feet. What length bars do you recommend to be compatible with both vehicles? Could I use two Thule Hullavator lift assist carriers on either vehicle with these racks? Any other suggestions are appreciated.

Hey Ron,
The Thule WingBar Evo crossbars are a great option to work with your current Rhino-Rack carriers and extensions without an adapter needed! I recommend # TH66XG, Thule WingBar Evo 53" for your Impreza and Ioniq. For kayaks I tend to lean towards a longer length crossbar that will work on both vehicles.
You are spot on with the fitment question. You can use the same crossbar for both vehicles you will just need a different fit kit. The kit # TH66XG is the specific kit for your 16' Impreza, with the vehicle specific feet kit included. For your 25' Ioniq, it depends on what type of roof you have. I will attach both feet kit options for you below.
25" Hyundai Ioniq with a naked roof: # TH68UK
25' Hyundai Ioniq with flush mounted rails: # TH28JQ
The Thule Hullavator is going to work on both racks and both vehicles. The one thing I would be careful with is the capacity of the roof racks. The Hullavator. # TH898, is 39lbs so depending on if you are hauling 1-2 kayaks it may get close to the roof rack capacity. Specifically 165lbs for the WingBar evo rack.
Other than double checking that you are not going over the weight capacity, everything is compatible with each other and you'll be able to rock and roll on both vehicles. How many kayaks are you looking to load onto those vehicles?
