Video Transcript for Review of Dometic RV Furnace - DMC84RR

Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at our Dometic Digital Thermostat. It's gonna be for furnace control only, or your heat. Now this digital thermostat, once it's powered up, you'll have a digital out-read here and then obviously you can change the knob here to go from cool to the heat setting that you want. So again, it controls only the heat.

You got a little indicator light down here. And on the back here you got your connections for the thermostat wires. Now, I did go ahead and measure this before our time together here, but I did wanna show you on center, the mine hole center-to-center, I got two and three eighth inches, a thickness overall, I measured down here at the base, at the widest part, sticking out from the wall, it's gonna be 13/16th thick. And on the back when I measure a width, I get three and 3/8th inches wide. And when I measure a height on the backside, I get three and 7/16th inches tall.

Now it does come with a set of batteries and of course your mounting hardware with these plastic wall fasteners to go into the wall if need be. So not much more to talk about, folks. That's gonna wrap up our quick look together at this Dometic Digital Thermostat. Again, heat or furnace control only, in white. I'm Steven with etrailer.

Thanks for watching and reach out if you have any other questions.

  • How Does Ducted System Work With Furrion Chill Cube
Hi JD; the Furrion Chill Cube # FR49TD air distribution box has a vent on it you can open and close. See the picture attached below. When it is closed it forces more of the air through the ducted system. Assuming you have a ducted system you will need one of the following: -Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - Black # FR39TD -Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - White # FR99TD -Furrion Chill...

  • Can Furrion Chill Cube Operate With RV Furnace
Hello Sam; that is a great question! I reached out to Furrion and you will be able to use the Furrion Chill Cube # FR69TD (white) or # FR49TD (black) with your furnace. However, the remote is not capable of operating the furnace at this time. Also, we have found that the included wall thermostat isn't always compatible depending on the furnace you have. My recommendation is to get the # FR39TD (black) or # FR99TD (white) and then add a separate thermostat like the Dometic Digital Thermostat...

  • How to Use Furnace With Furrion Chill Cube on 2017 Keystone Cougar 327RES
Hey Dusty! There is a lot of information out there right now about Chill Cube. Some of it is definitely confusing, especially when we have people trying to use parts that aren't designed for the new R32 systems. On top of that, the Chill Cube uses a remote which acts as its thermostat and isn't compatible with a furnace. There are two ways to make everything work together, I will give you both. The first is to get the Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box - Ducted...

  • Can Furrion Chill Cube Thermostat Work with Furnace
Hey Christopher, at this time the Furrion Chill Cube doesn't have a thermostat that will work with a furnace although we have heard they are working on that. So in meantime the best option is a furnace only thermostat like the part # DMC84RR which you'd wire up to your furnace independently of the Chill Cube. Is that the extent of your question or does the wiring of the thermostat still giving you troubles.

  • Will the Dometic Digital Thermostat DMC84RR Work w/a Atwood Furnace 7916-11?
Yes, it will Stephen. The Dometic Digital Thermostat item # DMC84RR is a furnace only thermostat that is designed to work with 2-wire setups like your Atwood furnace 7916-11. The Dometic Digital Thermostat item # DMC84RR measures 3-3/8" wide x 3-7/16" tall x 13/16" thick. It is extremely easy to setup and operate. What kind of trailer or motorhome do you have?

  • Looking For Smart Thermostat To Use With Furrion Chill Cube AC unit
Hey Danny, thanks for reaching out. Furrion is making a furnace compatible thermostat that will work with the Chill Cube, and that is part # LC74DX. Only problem is these are not available quite yet. If you need something sooner, I have heard that universal Bluetooth thermostats can work with the Chill Cube. A few customers have reported back to us that the universal thermostats work fine for controlling the Chill Cube. The official word from Furrion is to only use their thermostat, but...

  • How to Change the Dometic Digital Thermostat Furnace Control Only to Fahrenheit
There sure is Tim, this is America! You'll need to pull the faceplate of the Dometic Digital Thermostat item # DMC84RR off of the wall. If you look on the back of it you'll see a bunch of circuits but on the left side there's a button you can press (it's circled in the pic below). Go ahead and press it down until the display shows P01. Then release the button and turn the knob clockwise until the display shows P05. You'll press that button again and the display will show C. You'll want...

  • Does Turning Dometic Thermostat DMC84RR All The Way Down Turn Furnace Power Off?
Hello Joe, thanks for reaching out. To answer your question, no, turning the Dometic # DMC84RR thermostat all the way down does not shut the furnace completely off like flipping a power switch. The digital thermostat will command the furnace to stop firing and hold a low set point, but the furnace controller still has standby power going to it so the thermostat and display stay alive. This is how most digital RV furnace thermostats work, including the # DMC84RR.

  • Can The Dometic Digital Thermostat DMC84RR Be Hardwired So Batteries Are Not Needed?
Hey John, thanks for reaching out. The Dometic Digital Thermostat # DMC84RR uses two AAA batteries to power the display and logic. You can’t really bypass the batteries completely because the thermostat needs them to function as a digital unit. Even if you hardwired constant 12V into it, it’s not designed to run that way, there’s no terminal for it. It’s built to use batteries for the electronics and the RV wiring for the furnace control separately. If your goal is “no batteries ever,”...

Hey Patricia, I am assuming you have the Dometic thermostat part # DMC84RR that you referenced. If you check out the attached review video you can hear what it will sound like around the 30 second mark.

  • What Thermostat Works With Dometic RV Furnace
Hey Derrick! The Dometic RV Furnace # DMC94RR will pretty much work with any RV thermostat that is capable of running a furnace. The only one that might give you trouble is the Furrion Chill Cube wall thermostat since it seems to have issues with a lot of the furnaces out there. Do you already have a thermostat running your AC or an existing furnace? If you need one you can use the Dometic Digital Thermostat - Furnace Control Only - White # DMC84RR. You could also run it using a smart...

  • 20k BTU RV Replacement Furnace Recommendation for Lance Camper
Hey Greg, yes our Dometic RV Furnace part # DMC86RR is our lowest BTU rated RV furnace. Thankfully nearly all RV furnaces are made to the same size which makes swapping them easier. For a thermostat we have the Dometic Digital part # DMC84RR which is a furnace only style thermostat that would work great.

  • How Does Coleman Mach 15 Compare to Furrion Chill Cube
THey Brian, the Coleman Mach Signature Mach 15 part # CM32RR is a really solid AC unit. As far as how it compares to the Furrion Chill Cube # FR69TD it only has the advantage of working more consistently with furnace controls. Aside from that the Chill Cube wins in terms of cold air blowing, quietness, and amperage draw. If you'd be open to it the best setup would be a Chill Cube and then a furnace only thermostat like the part # DMC84RR. Does running a second thermostat work for you at...

  • What is the Amp Draw on the Dometic RV Furnace DMC86RR?
Hey Robert, welcome back! The 20,000 Btu RV furnaces like the Dometic item # DMC86RR you were looking at draw 4.8 amps. It runs off of propane, measures 20" deep x 7" tall x 12" wide, can be installed vertically or horizontally, and works great on trailer's up to 20' long. Unless you have a compatible AC system, you'll need the Dometic Digital Thermostat item # DMC84RR to control item # DMC86RR. • RV AC Unit and Furnace Recommendation for 1972 Airstream
Hey Heather, we have several RV AC units that would work great in your 1972 Airstream but my favorite is the Furrion Chill Cube like the part # FR69TD if your RV has roof ducting or the part # FR27TD if you have no ducting. For heat you would need a furnace that runs on propane like the 30 BTU part # DMC54RR and thermostat # DMC84RR. Is this along the lines of what you were thinking of?

  • Will Furrion Chill Cube Thermostat Work With Furnace With 1 or 2 Speeds
Hey Tony! I'm going to save you a lot of trouble here. The Chill Cube Thermostat # LC74DX is absolutely terrible. We have had nothing but issues with this, and there has been endless back and forth with Furrion about it. Some people are able to get it to work with their furnace but, odds of success are low and setup will likely be a painful nightmare. If you already have a furnace running off of a thermostat I would use the existing thermostat and run the Chill Cube strictly off of the...

  • Is There An On/Off Switch for Dometic Digital Thermostat Furnace Control
Hey Greg! So I have some bad/weird news for you. It does not appear that the Dometic 9610008133 thermostat has an on/off switch or button. There is not an "easy" way to switch the thermostat off for when the camper is in storage or you're away from it. Some alternative solutions would be to see if the furnace itself has a reset or off switch that you can use to shut it down. It would typically be behind a cover that needs to be removed to access it. Something else you could for a more...

Hey Robert! We do get a lot of AC questions and I'm happy to help answer yours. For your 2018 Open Range Light 295FBH the Chill Cube is absolutely the best option. This has an incredibly high cooling capacity at 18k btu and will be able to push air back to that bedroom. It is also efficient and quiet, making it the best AC on the market right now. • Choosing Between Furrion Chill Cube With and Without Wall Thermostat
Hey Doug! There have been a lot of furnace compatibility issues with the Chill Cube wall thermostat. As of right now, they have not resolved the problem so it is best to use your existing thermostat for the furnace if possible. The # FR39TD is designed for a ducted setup and will run off of the remote as well as the controls on the air distribution box. The version with the wall thermostat # FR49TD has been showing up with a lower price so if that is still the case you might as well get...
