As advertised, high quality product, super-easy installation with very clear instructions, this awning is a great addition to the rig I'm building. The 8' can be a bit challenging to deploy with one person but doable and it's totally worth the extra shade space especially in the AZ sun. etrailer is awesome as usual, easy ordering, great communications throughout.
One year later review. I’ve had no issues with this awning. It is mounted on my overland teardrop trailer on an old Yakama round bar rack. It is equal quality to an awning I bought for my Tacoma from another brand, but almost three times more expensive. My takeaway: quality + low price = win.
Excellent product. Super easy to install. super easy to deploy and stow. Looks very good on my truck. Using it this week camping. Great for some shade after a long bike ride.
Product arrived slightly damaged but was able to still install it and quality of the product overall is great
Love that it mounts to my roof crossbars and it is out of the way so I can use my crossbars for other gear. Love the size but a little difficult for me to set up; take down is easier by myself. Will need leg tie-downs or weights. As an older female, it is pretty heavy to lift above my head and mount on the crossbars myself but it can be done. Took it on my almost 4,000 mile trip this summer, didn’t end up using it but was glad to have it just in case. It is nice to use in conjunction with my camping trailer awning, too. Great product for the price.
I’m a Yakima user for many years, this seems to be on par with everything else they make. Which is top notch. It was easy to install and easy to use. Might need two sets of hands on a windy day. But so far I love it.
Arrived within a week. Unpacked, all material present and felt well made. Installation was simple and secure. Comes on and off easy.
I put it on a New Camp teardrop trailer with a Yakima roof rack. Fits perfectly!

Yakima Slim Shady 8x8 Awning is an excellent addition to my Yakima MegaWarrior + Extension rack & solar power enabled off-grid rig!!!! Yakima/etrailer box was severely damaged in cross-country delivery but the awning was so well protected it suffered only scuffing on the cover. Installation on a rack this high requires 2 ladders & assistance but slow & steady was very successful. I can't wait to set up camp & sit in the shade enjoying cool refreshments from my solar powered refrigerator.

Actually, with the bad weather we have experienced out here in California, I did not use the shade yet. Hopefully, this will be the year to test it out.
I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but what I like is that the mounting brackets come with inserts that work on Yakima round bars, I have searched with no luck to find something
that fits my round bars and these are specifically made to fit round bars as well as all others.
Great product at an affordable price. etrailer is my “go to” place for all of my towing accessories. Their prices, instructional videos and customer service all rate 5 stars.

Bought this for my 2016 Subaru Outback with factory installed crossbars. I ended up buying the 4' knowing that it would just be me putting it up. Installing the awning on to the existing crossbars was incredibly simple and took me about 5 mins on the first go. Setup at camp is always slightly awkward but doable with the 4 footer. I was able to get it up in about 5 mins during a brief lull in a rainstorm in S. Colorado and it gave me enough coverage to be able to sit outside and cook dinner while staying dry. Would highly recommend.
