Can you install a slim shady awning along the 2022 Outback Wilderness beefy side rails without cross bars?

The Yakima SlimShady Awning part # Y56VR is designed to attach to crossbars, not the side rails. Therefore, if you want to use the SlimShady you'll have to install crossbars like the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack part # MPG216.
I am not aware of any side rail mount awning options unfortunately but with a full racks you can carry a ton of gear.
