The STOW iT mounting brackets attach to your roof rack using Zwifloc channel nuts, which drop directly into the rack channels so you can position or relocate the awning without moving other accessories. Once the brackets are in place, the awning slides into them and secures quickly, and deployment is straightforward when you stop. When you want to take the awning off between trips, the STOW iT system lets you remove it in minutes for storage.
This awning uses a mold-resistant ripstop canopy that's designed to handle sun exposure and wet conditions without needing special care. The CPAI-84 fire-rated fabric blocks UV with UPF 50+ protection and holds up well to repeated use over time. When you're ready to move on, the awning packs back into its weatherproof PVC storage bag to stay protected during travel and storage.
You can increase the usefulness of your Sunseeker with a couple of optional accessories. The Sunseeker awning extension (RR32111 - sold separately) attaches at the outer edge of the canopy to give you extra shade when you want more coverage beyond the base footprint. For added protection against low sun, wind, or roadside exposure, the Sunseeker awning side wall (RR32112 - sold separately) lets you create a more sheltered space along the awning's edge. Hey everyone, I'm Evangeline right here today. Since every awning fits every vehicle differently, we're focusing in on how the Rhino-Rack Sunseeker awning, that is the 2m or the regular sized one, fits on a smaller car like the 2023 Kia Seltos. Now, I'm currently using a roof rack today in order to install this awning. The Seltos does have different roof rack options, so yours might look a little differently. Or if you have another vehicle that's of a similar size, just a different configuration, this video will be helpful for you. So, your roof rack might look a little different.
The most important thing is that it has channels, because that's how the Sunseeker awning is installed. From there, you can then just extend the awning out, and now you have a lot of shape. Now, the height of your vehicle will affect your experience. So something I would like to say to those who have those smaller or lower vehicles is that you can always increase the height of your awning if you need a little bit more headroom. Just be mindful that if a quick rain shower does kick up, water will be going towards the vehicle.
So keep your sunroof closed. So how much shade will you actually get with the awning Well, if you measure for width, which is gonna be from one end of the awning to the other, we have ours measured at six and a half feet. And then when you go for length, which is how far past the vehicle will this go, I measured it at about seven feet and an inch. That's something to be mindful of if you are tailgating or parked in a parking lot where there's other spaces beside you, this will be about a space of one car. If you're in an open field, no big deal.
Now, the dimensions of your awning doesn't exactly mean that's how much shade you get, because the sun is gonna move, or rather, the earth is gonna move around the sun, which will change how much shade and where the shade will go. So hopefully that's helpful for you for planning out your trip. Make sure that wherever you do have this secure, that you do take advantage of the guidelines included with this kit. This will secure your awning even if it's not windy when you set this up. If a quick gusts of wind comes up, you wanna be prepared.
Now, if you are parked in a field, that's fine because then you do have stakes included with the system. Now other people have their different ways they adventure, they want their awning level, they may want more or less headroom. That's totally up to you. The good news is that it's super easy to adjust this awning as needed for different heights. You just twist the legs and then they tighten down. As for the set up and tear down of the awning, that's surprisingly very simple. In fact, you could probably do it by yourself if you know the exact order of how to go about it. Check out my full review video if you're curious about that process. But for now, I'm gonna pack this up so we can see it in the compact mode. And this is what it looks like on your Seltos all packed up. You can see now how much more compact it is. We don't have seven feet of awning sticking out past the vehicle. This is how I would drive home. In fact, I have driven home with this setup before, and a big question a lot of people ask me is, how much wind drag and wind noise is there with this Well, with how sleek and low profile it is, not much wind noise at all. The thing is, are you only carrying an awning or you're also bringing a basket or a kayak or a rooftop tent Because with how this is set up, you have space for all the gear if you want to. With the bag that goes around the awning, it is designed to stay on top of your vehicle for extended periods of time. It's made of, like, a PVC material similar to what you'll have on tarps or banners, and that will protect the awning from the elements. But if you do wanna take your awning off, it's a very simple process. This utilizes the STOW iT bracket. Remove the two bolts and then you can just lift the awning off, keeping the bracket on the roof rack. The Rhino-Rack Sunseeker awning is very straightforward, but the best thing about it is how lightweight it is, and with the STOW iT brackets, how easy it is to mount and take off when not in use. With that in mind, I like how this fits with the Seltos because your smaller vehicles usually don't have as much weight capacity as a beefier set up on a larger SUV. So the Sunseeker being lightweight, but also very capable, is a great match here. But today what we saw was how the Rhino-Rack Sunseeker awning 2m fits on a 2023 Kia Seltos.
Easy to install even though the directions were not as clear as they could have been. Fit on my existing rail on my van which was the most important detail.
