Can Awning be Mounted to Yakima OverHaul Ladder Rack For Tonneau Cover w/ Rooftop Tent

Question:

Is there a mounting solution for the Yakima HD bar on the Overhaul HD truck bed rack that would allow you to mount a pull out awning when you also have a Roof Top Tent such as the Roofnest Sparrow XL mounted to the rack? The solutions I have been able to find show a bracket on the bar inside of the vertical arm and this seems it would interfere with mounting the RTT. Is there an accessory that you could use that takes advantage of the slot in the HD bar that would move the awning away from the RTT and not encroach on the space for the tent? thanks!

While there isn't an accessory that moves an awning away and not encroach on crossbar space, you may still be able to utilize a rooftop tent with the Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack for Tonneau Cover - 68" Crossbars # Y01151-5855 or 78" Crossbars # Y01151-5955.

Since the crossbars on the OverHaul are longer than standard roof racks they give you a lot more room for other accessories so it really just depends on the width of your rooftop tent. The Roofnest Sparrow XL, from what I saw, was 60 inches wide, so to utilize it with an awning you would need the OverHaul HD with 78" long crossbars.

That way you could easily use a rooftop tent from Yakima, the SlimShady, as it only takes up 6 inches of crossbar space when mounted, which it does by clamping onto the ends of the rack. This is available in a number of different sizes:

- 30 Sq Ft: Yakima SlimShady Awning # Y56VR

- 42 Sq Ft: Yakima SlimShady Awning # Y36VR

- 64 Sq Ft: Yakima SlimShady Awning # Y96VR
