Question:
Guys - Ive got a brand new 2020 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew FX4 with 5.5foot bed. Ive got a BAKFlip G2 Folding Cover already installed. I want to get some type of a ladder/lumber rack that has the over-the-cab extension. Also, Id like to be able to remove the uprights most of the time, so it doesnt look like a construction truck. I will re-mount the uprights probably 1 or 2 weekends a month. Its OK if the horizontal mounting rail stays on the truck. My Ford dealer said Ive only got rear stake pockets ... there are no front stake pockets according to him, but Im not sure I believe that. What is a good rack I can get from you guys that wont break the bank?

The 2020 Ford F-150 with BAKFlip G2 folding tonneau cover is compatible with the Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack w/ Cantilever - 1,250 lbs # TH43002XT-508EX. The sliding rack rails mount in the stake pockets and will work with your folding tonneau. Your dealer is not completely off as cutting the front stake pocket rail is required to expose the stake pocket which is there. If you measure back from the cab about 3 inches and measure in 1-1/2 inches from the inside of the bed rail you will be inside that pocket and can drill a small hole. Then you can open the hole gradually to expose the entire stake pocket while ensuring you don't damage the paint or metal and simply remove plastic in that rectangular stake pocket. I don't know why Ford doesn't put a cap on it like they do in the rear, but rest assured there is a stake pocket under that rail.
With this sliding ladder rack, you will need to slide the uprights forward and back to allow the folding of your tonneau as the uprights angle inward. This is the only option we carry that will work with the tonneau you have as well as the over the cab option. This will allow you to remove the uprights easily when not in use and leave the rails in place for easy reinstallation.
