Telescoping Ramp

Yakima OnRamp telescoping ramp

The OnRamp includes a telescoping, aluminum ramp so you can easily roll your e-bikes on and off the rack - no heavy lifting required. The ramp telescopes to ensure it touches the ground so you don't have to lift your bike at all. It can also be used to decrease the angle of approach to make loading even easier. It stores behind the bike trays, so you don't have to put it in your vehicle or risk misplacing it.

Padded Clamps with Ratchet Straps

Yakima OnRamp ratcheting hooks

Padded, rotating clamps grab your bikes by the frame or seat post to ensure safe transport with minimal movement and noise. They move up and down the center mast independently, so you can position them to fit bikes of any frame style.

Sliding Wheel Straps

Yakima OnRamp ratcheting hooks

The wheel trays have sliding ratcheting straps to secure your rear wheel to the rack. The straps slide along the tray to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. To secure your wheel, run the strap over the rim and back down through the strap buckle and pull tight. To remove your bike, press the quick-release button on the buckle and undo the strap.

Release Knob for Easy Tilting and Folding

Yakima OnRamp tilt awayHollywood racks tilt up

The rack tilts with bikes loaded for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. From behind the rack, pull the release knob at the base and tilt the rack down away from you. When you raise the rack back up, the pin will automatically re-insert and make an audible click to let you know it's secure.

Yakima OnRamp telescoping ramp

It also folds up when not in use. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And if you want to remove it, it doesn't take up as much space to store it.

Easy, Bolt-On Installation

Yakima OnRamp ratcheting hooks

To install the rack, simply slide the shank into your receiver and screw in the anti-rattle hitch pin. This threaded pin helps eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport.

Complete Security

Yakima OnRamp2 ratcheting hooksYakima lock

A cable lock is included to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. The thick, steel cable threads through your bike's frames, and locks back onto the hitch pin, preventing the pin from being removed from the hitch pin hole. The cable also has a soft rubber cover that won't scratch or scuff your bikes' paint.

  • Dimensions of the Replacement Ramp for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack
The Replacement Ramp # Y99KR for the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack # Y96FR can handle up to 3.25" wide tires and measures 51" long and is a direct replacement for the one that came with your OnRamp bike rack. There are a few different width measurements you might find helpful which I've attached in a photo for you to reference.

Hey Linda, the e-bike rack I recommend for your e-bike that has a step thru frame and fenders is the Yakima OnRamp part # Y96FR that you referenced as this hitch is RV rated like you need for your Class C motorhome, has frame clamps that were designed for step thru frames, and it has a ramp setup that makes loading and unloading much easier.

  • What Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 60-Pound E-Bike on My 2013 Ford Focus?
I have a great solution for you for a bike rack with a ramp. Unfortunately, Saris does not make a ramp for the Saris MTY Bike Rack SA4031. We also do not have a bike rack that has a ramp for a single bike. With that being said, we do have a 2-bike option that comes with a ramp. For that route, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR (for 1-1/4" hitches) or the # Y88DJ (for 2-inch hitches). The great thing about the OnRamp in addition to the included ramp is that you will not have to purchase...

Good news! My friend AJ's video is finally up and you can see him review the Yakima OnRamp #Y36FR in the video I attached below. I love your description of a road narwhal. If you're worried about the extra length behind your vehicle with a folded bike rack, I recommend the new Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR. In the video, AJ doesn't get into exact measurements since they're vehicle/hitch specific and he was doing a more general review, but I attached picture comparisons of the two bike racks you're...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 70-Pound E-Bike with a 1-1/4" Hitch
For your 1-1/4" hitch, the absolute best option is the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202. Not only is this rack compatible with Class I and Class II hitches, it comes with an integrated ramp so you do not have to lift the bike off the ground to load. As far as the weight capacity, it has a 65 pound per-bike maximum. Although, if you remove your battery from your bike, you will be able to fall within the weight rating of the rack. This is because most batteries weigh between 5-7 pounds.

  • What Bike Rack do You Recommend for a 2010 Lexus GS 350 SUV?
For a heavier (50 pound) electric bike that is easy to load on your vehicle, I recommend a hitch rack. For the rack itself, a great option is the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches - Frame Mount # Y96FR. The OnRamp has a maximum per-bike weight capacity of 66-pounds per bike and includes an integrated ramp that allows for you to roll the bike onto the securing platform without lifting the bike off the ground. Another great feature of the OnRamp is the securing...

  • Is the Ramp on the # Y96FR Long Enough to Use on a Fifth-Wheel Trailer?
I assume you are referring to the Yakima OnRamp - 2" # Y36FR because this is the version that is constructed to withstand the added torque and force exerted on the rack when mounted on a 5th-wheel trailer. It is important to note that the weight capacity of this rack decreases to 40 pounds per bike when mounted on a trailer. When determining if the ramp is long enough to use, it really depends on the height of your hitch receiver on the trailer. Since the ramp measures 51 inches long,...

  • What 2-Bike Hitch Rack do You Recommend for My 2 E-Bikes on My 2015 Hyundai Sonata?
For a great 2-bike electric bike rack for your 2015 Hyundai Sonata, I recommend the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # SA4412B or the fat-bike version # SA4412B-FB. The great thing is that the Freedom comes with a high 60-pound per-bike weight capacity and accommodates bikes with wheelbases up to 48 inches long. Another great benefit of the Freedom is that the bike clamps adjust anywhere along the central mast. This eliminates the need of a bike...

  • Comparing the Yakima OnRamp and OnRamp LX Bike Racks
Great question, Rondi! The Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR is the first generation while the Yakima OnRamp LX # Y28DJ is the second generation of this rack. The LX has slightly higher weight ratings (70 lbs per bike on road and 42 off-road), the trays are upgraded to be easier to adjust and hold the tires better, and then the LX has provisions for the License Plate and Tail Light Relocation Kit # Y74VR. • Are Wheel Trays On The Original Yakima OnRamp And New OnRamp LX Interchangeable?
Hey Steve, thanks for getting in touch. I have a couple of possible solutions for you but you won't be able to carry the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack item # Y36FR with your 1-1/4" hitch if you use an extender/adapter. Those adapters reduce your hitch's capacity by 50%. The first option is to purchase the 1-1/4" version of the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack item # Y96FR so it fits your car and using the Brophy Hitch Reducer item # HT02 will allow it to fit your husbands 2" receiver.
