Yakima 4 Timer

The FourTimer has a 2-bike base unit and a removable 2-bike extension so that you can carry up to 4 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The platform-style design makes it easy to load and unload your bikes. Ratcheting hooks and sliding wheel cradles accommodate bikes of different sizes. The rack tilts down - even with bikes loaded - for cargo area access. And an anti-rattle hitch lock secures the rack to your vehicle.

Versatile Rack

Yakima 2 Bikes

This 4-bike carrier can be easily converted to a 2-bike carrier. Simply remove a bolt on the base of the rack to detach the front 2 bike positions. Then remove the red endcap from the detached piece, and place it into the base of the 2-bike rack that you will be using.

Quick, Easy-to-Load Design

This rack lets you quickly and easily load your bikes. Low load height requires minimal lifting. And adjustable hooks and wheel cradles hold bikes of different shapes and sizes.

Ratcheting Frame Hooks

Yakima Four Timer Ratcheting Hook

Each upright mast has 2 ratcheting hooks that move up and down with the push of a button. These hooks you to carry 4 bikes of different heights and frame styles - like children's bikes and bikes with fenders. The hooks firmly grip your bikes by the top tubes, and they are cushioned to protect your bike frames from scratches and scuffs.

Yakima 4 Timer Hook Rotate

All of the hooks can be rotated out of the way for easier bike loading. Just push in the small buttons on the hooks to rotate them.

You can also replace a short hook with a long hook or vice versa. This gives you the ability to choose where you want to mount your bikes. Additional short hooks (Y80526 - sold separately) or long hooks (Y80525 - sold separately) let you mount a shorter or taller than normal bike on the rack.

Adjustable Wheel Cradles

Yakima 2 Time Wheel Cradles

Sturdy, adjustable wheel cradles let you carry bikes of different lengths. Use the hand knobs to slide each cradle to the desired position and tighten. Ratchet straps allows you to tighten down wheels of different widths.

Insert the straps into built-in slots on the cradles to keep them out of the way while you're loading your bikes.

If you want to carry a fat bike, the cradles can carry tires up to 4-1/2" wide with the addition of extra-long straps (Y02470 - sold separately).

Tilting and Folding Design

Yakima 4 Timer Tilt Bike Rack

The FourTimer's tilting design makes it easier to access your vehicle's rear cargo area and to load your bikes. Just pull the spring-loaded pin at the base of the rack. Make sure the heaviest bike is loaded closest to your vehicle.

Yakima Four Timer Tilt

Easily fold the rack up against the back of your vehicle when it's not being used. Just pull the pin at the base of each upright mast to fold it down, and use the spring-loaded pin on the rack base to fold the rack against your vehicle.

Locking Hitch Bolt

An anti-rattle hitch lock is included to secure the FourTimer to your vehicle. The threaded pin reduces movement of the rack in your hitch and lets you enjoy a quiet ride.

To secure your bikes to the rack, you can use a standard cable lock (sold separately). Use the loop on the base of the rack as an anchor point for the cable.

Yakima Bottle Opener

The TwoTimer includes an integrated bottle opener at the end of each arm.

Video Transcript for Yakima FourTimer 4 Bike Platform Rack Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima FourTimer Four Bike Platform Rack for 2" hitches, part number Y02469. The Yakima FourTimer is a great bike rack for people who have multiple bikes, or perhaps a family with bikes, that doesn't want to have to deal with the hassle of the roof rack bike rack systems or the hatch bike rack systems as well. This is a bike rack that could also carry a wide variety of bikes, ranging from mountain bikes to alternate frame bikes to road bikes to kids' bikes, although in some cases you may need to purchase aftermarket adapter bars to make those fit. This will also work with fat bikes as well, and those adapter kits are also sold separately. This rack does hold your bike at three different points. We're gonna have a padded frame hookup at the top to help protect the frames of your bikes once they're being installed from any scratches or abrasions, and then at the base we'll have two wheel straps, as well as wheel cradles. These are adjustable back and forth by loosening and tightening the knobs on the inside here, and this is gonna be to accommodate those different size bikes or different bike lengths.Like most platform style bike racks, this can tilt away with all bikes still attached; however, due to the length of the bike rack and the fact that my arm just isn't long enough to get to the switch to the front, you may need an extra set of hands to help you do this. Having our extra set of hands, we're gonna have them go on the other side of the bike rack here while we loosen up the gray pin on the side and the red pin out front to tilt it away. Now in some cases, unfortunately, the hatch will make contact with one of your bikes, as it is too close to the vehicle.

That depends on what style hitch you have and what type of vehicle you have, as well. Now to put it back in position, you simply lift it back up until you hear the click. You might need an extra set of hands for this as well. Also coming with this bike rack are gonna be two stabilization straps to wrap around your two sets of bikes. This is gonna help keep everything nice and together while you're traveling, and you can also convert this bike rack into a two bike rack by removing this rear section. If you wanted to convert it to a two bike rack, you would move this bolt up at the front, and then you would replace the bottle opener at the end here onto this end.The hooks are also very easy to use.

It has these push buttons here on the side to move them up and down, or you can ratchet them in to place around your bike. Also, it has these silver pins on either side. If you push them in at the same time, you can move them out of the way, and this is gonna make loading a lot easier. The two masts do fold down out of the way by pulling out the red pin here, inaudible 00:02:17 it come down. And now with it folded flat, we have full hatch access as well. And also with it folded flat, you could actually fold it up against the vehicle for close quarters situations such as parking or putting it in your garage.

It's the same process as tilting it forward. You remove the pin on the other side first. Then lifting up slightly, pull out to lift out the red pin and push up until you hear that click, and then you reinstall the pin. Also on the side here, we can see this a little bit clearer now with it folded up, is this loop here. And this loop can be used for a wide variety of purposes, such as a tie down point, if you wanted to have another anchor point for your bikes, or you can utilize this with a cable lock from Yakima that is also sold separately on etrailer.com.And finally we have our locking anti-rattle bolt here, which is gonna hold our hitch in place and also secure it to the bike rack. It does have this dust cover on it, and that's to help keep the road, dirt, and grime out of the lock while you travel. And when it comes to customer reviews, there's a couple that came up that actually have had it over a year.

David S writes, "We like our FourTimer after owning it a year. The positives are the straps are easy to tighten down, and the bikes held very sturdy. The only negative is that it's heavy, but I can still maneuver it." John R writes, "One year later, this rack is doing really well. It's easy to use and stood up to the first Minnesota winter."When comparing this with other bike racks, one that comes up is gonna be the Hollywood Sport Rider SE2 Bike Rack for four bikes, part number HR1400. Now, some of the differences between these two bike racks. While both can carry both four bikes and be converted to a two bike version, the Hollywood racks can also have a cargo basket put on the end of it as well to replace the previous two bikes. Also, with the two bike racks themselves, the Hollywood racks is gonna be a little bit heavier at 74 lbs for four bikes, with this being 66 lbs for four bikes. Also, the SE2 has open wheel cradles, leaving your tires exposed, while the FourTimer's cradles are closed at the bottom, offering more protection for your bike's tires. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the FourTimer, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have our vehicle here. We'll line up with our hitch and just push it into place, lining up our pin holes on the side. Once we have our pin holes lined up, we'll take our anti-rattle bolt and lock washer, put it through one side, getting it hand-tight first. Then we'll take a ratchet with a 15/16" socket and we'll tighten that down the rest of the way. Then we'll take our locking end here, push that into place, and take our dust cap and put that over as well. Now we're ready to put it in its loading position. We'll start by coming to the base here. We'll remove the gray pin on the passenger side, and then we'll come to the red pin here to fold it out. So we'll put the pin out, and it's just a snap pin, and let that hang out. And then we'll come to our red pin, pull that out, and let it come towards us until you hear kind of a pop like that. And then we can reinstall that gray pin on the side.Next we'll fold up our first mast. To do that, we'll come to the red pin here, pull out, and just lift up. Next we'll get our frame hooks al the way up. To do that, you push the gray trigger at the base here like so, and then you see these silver pins on either side. You push those in at the same time to push those off to the side, and this is gonna help out with loading up our bikes. We'll repeat this for the other hook as well. Then we push in on the gray tab to loosen up our strap, and we'll also loosen up our knobs, or at least make sure they're loose here so we can move these back and forth as needed for our bikes. We'll repeat this for our other cradles as well. We'll start loading the bikes, and you want to load the heaviest bike closest towards the vehicle. Set it down, bring the hook back around, and just kind of get it held in place for now so we can adjust the wheel cradles. Looks like the front one's gonna be okay, so we'll go ahead and tighten that one down. Bring our wheel strap around and tighten that down as well. Now we can repeat this process for our second bike. Our final step for our first two bikes is to take our stabilization strap, wrap it around the frames of the bikes to secure them to the first mast. All right, so we'll tighten it up, nice and tight, and tie off the excess. With this done, we can now move to our second set of bikes and start installing those. Now we're ready to put on our final strap, take it out on our test course, and show you how it looks. First we'll take it onto our slalom course. This will show you the side to side action, such as making turns or evasive maneuvers. Now we're at the alternating speed bumps. This will show you how it looks driving on uneven pavement or potholes. Finally, we're at the solid speed bumps, which stimulates going into your driveway or parking lots. And there you have it for the Yakima FourTimer Four Bike Platform Rack for 2" hitches, part number Y02469.

Pros: - Easy to use - Durable - Flexible 2 or 4 bike option Cons: - Heavy - Hitch mechanism use a of a screw and not a quick release 210405

Product arrived in 2 days and the packaging was in great shape. 1 small tear in the box at the corner, but nothing major. It took me about 3-45 minutes to put the carrier together with 1 socket and open end wrench. If you look at the picture, you can put this together without any instructions. (unless you are not good at that type of thing). Solid rack. Heavier than I expected but that's fine. I will replace the bolt that makes this a 4 bike rack so the wife can install it easily herself... 1st install the 2 bike rack, slide in the other 2 and put in a locking pin. 546500

1-year later, this trailer is doing really well. It is still very easy to use, and stood up to the first Minnesota winter - exposure to road salt bringing the fat bike to singletrack trails. Spray some white lithium on the moving parts like I did before the winter and you shouldn't have any problems with anything sticking from rust. 255976

Got my bike rack 4 days ahead of schedule, put it together fairly quickly (ran into a small glitch that Yakima technical support addressed quickly) and have used it once to take my mountain bike into the bike shop. The rack held my bike firmly and safely. Loading and unloading are very easy. The only thing that could improved is the way the safety pin that's secured by a short wire and plastic anchor. As a lot of other commenters have stated, the plastic anchor breaks almost immediately. I addressed that easily by tapping the hole and replacing the broken anchor with a metal bolt. Other than that very minor problem, I couldn't be happier with the rack, or with E-Trailer. The videos, etc. that E-Trailer has that shows how each rack works were extremely helpful. As mentioned above, I got the trailer about 4 days after I ordered, or about 4 days ahead of schedule. They are a great outfit and would buy something from them again without hesitation. 573324

Love this Yakima FourTimer. Great price and works perfectly. I can take it apart to use for only 2 bikes or attach the add-on for 4. When not in use I can flip it up into a locked position. It's perfect for bikes with fenders and for carrying women's bikes that don't have the top cross bar needed to hold up the bike on traditional bike carriers. Also the wheel wells are adjustable to fit any length of bike. I love this carrier, best one I've owned. I highly recommend it. 312034

We like our Yakima FourTimer hitch bike rack after owning it for a year. Positives: - Wheel straps easy to tighten and are very tight when use built in ratchet tighener along with pulling it. - bikes held very sturdy - top tube anchor works easily, quick real ease spring pins to raise and lower the assembly and a quick release clamp to lock down bike tube - trays slide easily by loosening and retightening for easy fit of children's bikes - stores easy by leaning against garage wall & securing with strap - best feature is how much easier it is to fit kids bikes than the fork style Negative - heavy but still can maneuver it. 267829

Good instructions and able to be put together relatively quickly. We were able to put four bikes on as planned but had to modify the original positions of the “left” and “right” sided wheel platforms due to one of our bikes being too long to fit based on original order of platforms (ie, had to put two lefts together and two rights together). Works for now because the other bikes are very small. Because of this we are not sure if the included assortment of platforms will work once some of our kids’ bikes get bigger. That being said, we are happy with our purchase so far! 538716

- Y02469

Great product. Have only used it so far with just 2 bikes. Very stable, easy to adjust. Bikes very solid on the rack, especially when you band them together with the provided nylon straps. This unit is heavy, but needs to be for the desired stability. 218414

Quick delivery and very durable product. I was looking for a bike carrier that would handle my kids and wife’s bike. Not dissapointed at all. 489752

This bike rack is AWESOME! Works like a dream. Had a hitch rack that you would hang bikes on, but didn't work well with full suspension bikes. This rack works with ANY bike. Recommended. 215327

Very sturdy and easy to assemble. Perfectly fits a 2012 Subaru Outback. We mostly use the rack in the 2-bike mode and when I contacted the good folks at Yakima they gladly shipped out the end cap to use in the 2-bike mode at no charge. 656544

Review from a similar Yakima FourTimer in Hitch Bike Racks

Better than I expected! Easy to assemble and heavy enough to be solid. Carries bikes with no movement. I cut a peice of pipe insulation to add to the top bar for added protection. I like the fact that i can use the rack as a two bike rack or add the extension and make it a four bike rack.. The main reason i bought this rack is because it fits a 2” receiver only! 585190

  • Both the Yakima FourTimer # Y02469 and the Swagman Quad 2+2 # S64692 that you referenced are excellent bike racks and would do a great job transporting your bikes. • Why Cant Yakima FourTimer Bike Rack be Used on Trailer or Motorhome
  • Only certain hitch-mounted bike racks are rated for use behind a trailer or motorhome. This is simply because of the extra movement and bounce that a bike rack endures behind a trailer/motorhome as opposed to one a standard passenger vehicle. The extra movement is due to the rear bumper on trailers being extended much further out from the rear axle than on a passenger car. Bike racks that are approved for this use have been tested for this application and can withstand the additional movement...

  • Is a Hitch Bike Rack or Utility Trailer Best Option to Carry Bikes Behind 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan
  • By far your best option to carry 4 bikes behind your 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan is a trailer hitch and a hitch-mounted bike rack. Your mini-van will ride better without a trailer, there won't be as much stress on the vehicle, and it will be much more convenient to use a bike rack as opposed to a trailer so that's absolutely the way to go. For a trailer hitch the Draw-Tite # 75579 is a great option if your Grand Caravan does not already have a hitch on it. I strongly recommend checking...

  • Best 4 Bike Rack for a 2016 Porsche Macan
  • The Yakima FourTimer, part # Y02469 is a great match for your 2016 Porsche Macan. It is a fairly hefty rack, and we do recommend getting help when tilting away with bikes loaded, as the rack can become a bit of a nightmare when loaded. It is compatible with your new hitch and includes a lot of great features including integrated hitch and bike locks that are keyed alike. If you're not set on the FourTimer, then I'd recommend taking a look at what the Malone Pilot 4, part # MPG2112-2115....

  • Will the Yakima FourTimer # Y02469 Allow Full Rear Hatch Clearance for a 2018 Chevy Traverse
  • Since the Yakima FourTimer # Y02469 is a bigger bike rack it will not tilt down enough for you to gain full access to the rear hatch area of your 2018 Chevrolet Traverse as you can see from the attached review video of a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. For a bike rack that will allow you full access to your rear hatch area on your Traverse I recommend the Yakima FullSwing # Y02465. This fits a 2" trailer hitch and can carry up to 4 bikes with a combined weight rating of 160 lbs. The swinging...

  • Weight of Yakima FourTimer 4-Bike Rack
  • The Yakima FourTimer 4-Bike Rack # Y02469 weighs 66 lbs as a 4-bike rack and 39 lbs as a 2-bike rack. Bike racks that hold four bikes need to be sturdy so they are made from steel, but there is a lightweight 4-bike option with the Saris Freedom # SA4414B, which is just 53 lbs. I've added links to video reviews of this product for you to take a look at.

  • Difference Between Replacement A and B Wheel Tray Assembly for Yakima TwoTimer Bike Rack
  • According to Yakima, the difference between the Replacement "A" Wheel Tray Assembly # 8880796 and Replacement "B" Wheel Tray Assembly # 8880797 is the following: "Look at the base of the wheel cup and look at the cut out above the steel bracket. Cup 'A' has has two bumps in the cut out and cup 'B' has a single bump." If that was confusing to you, don't worry, it was confusing to me too, so I went and took a look at the "A" assembly. What I found was that at the bottom of the wheel tray...

  • Will the Yakima FourTimer Bike Rack # Y02469 Fit a 2014 Jeep Wrangler with a Spare Tire
  • The Yakima FourTimer # Y02469 is an excellent bike rack! Although I don't know off-hand if it is compatible with the spare tire on your 2014 Jeep Wrangler I can give you some distances that you can use to determine fitment on your end. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest wheel cradle is 17" and the bike rack has a 4" rise in the shank. I am not sure if you will be able to fold it but if you were to try then from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of...

  • Can the Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack Be Used With Womens and Kids Bikes
  • Yes, the Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack part # Y02424 and Yakima DoubleDown Ace 4 Bike Rack part # Y02451 which comes with locks will both work with women's and kid's bikes. However, if the women's or kid's bikes have a deep drop tube frame then you will need an adapter. For this, I recommend the Malone Bike Adapter Bar part # MPG2165 because it is cost effective. Generally speaking, platform style bike racks like the Yakima FourTimer 4 Bike Platform Rack part # Y02469 are better for...

  • Compatibility of Yakima FourTimer 4 Bike Rack on 2014 Ford Explorer
  • The Yakima FourTimer 4 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting # Y02469 has a distance of 17 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch receiver to the closest wheel cradle. It has a 4 inch rise in the shaft, so when tilted you will have plenty of room with your 2014 Ford Explorer to completely open your hatch and access cargo. For instance, the Curt # C13386 trailer hitch receiver has a measurement of 4-1/2 inches from the outermost part of the bumper. That...

  • Interchangeable Trailer Hitch Bike Rack for a 2010 Honda CR-V and a 2013 Toyota RAV4
  • Your best compatibility is going to be if both your 2013 Toyota RAV 4 and 2010 Honda CR-V have Class III trailer hitches, as this allows access to the widest range of bike racks to transfer between the two vehicles. Picking a rack for multiple vehicles does have a few extra considerations, the weight and classes of the two vehicle's hitches. For this situation, I tend to recommend the Saris racks, as they tend to be extremely strong, lightweight racks that are easy to pick up and...

  • Best 4-Bike Rack for 2017 Ford F-150
  • The Saris Freedom # SA4414B and Yakima FourTimer # Y02469 are both fantastic options; you have a great eye for bike racks. Even though we have not test fit these on a 2017 Ford F-150, the majority of trucks we did test fit the Saris Freedom # SA4414B on allowed the rear tailgate to open with the bikes on and tilted down. Compared to the FourTimer # Y02469 the Freedom has the better chance of the two to let the tailgate come down with the rack tilted and the bikes on. The reason for this...
