The NV 2.0 Base is built to take on heavier loads with confidence. Each tray supports up to 60 lbs per bike, so hauling e-bikes, cruisers, or mountain rigs feels easy. The aluminum body keeps weight down to 49 lbs without giving up the strength you need for daily trips or long hauls.
Getting heavy bikes onto the rack doesn’t have to mean wrestling with them. The NV 2.0 Base works with the optional Access Ramp (sold separately), so you can roll your bike up instead of lifting it. It’s a simple way to make loading e-bikes or bulky frames easier for anyone who prefers a little less strain.
With ratcheting arms that hold bikes by the wheels, not the frame, paint jobs and carbon frames stay safe. The front-wheel cradle adjusts to fit different wheelbases, and sliding rear straps keep tires locked in place. It handles 25"–29" wheels (20"–24" with adapter, sold separately) and tires up to 3.0" wide, or up to 5.0" with included fat-bike straps, so it’s ready for almost any setup.
Reaching your cargo area doesn’t mean unloading bikes. Step on the foot pedal and tilt the rack down—even when loaded—to open up the back. The same pedal folds the rack up flat when you’re done riding. It’s quick, smooth, and leaves both hands free to guide the rack safely into place.
An integrated hand-tightening cam and anti-rattle wedge keep the connection solid and quiet on the road. Locking cable systems secure both bikes, while a locking hitch pin keeps the rack attached. Both locks are keyed alike, so one key handles it all. Every ride starts locked in and stays that way, mile after mile.

I am still loving this rack 1 year later! I use it on my Subaru Impreza sport, which is a pretty small car; this rack is light enough and perfect for this size car. It was easy to assemble, super easy to use and does a great job solidly holding the bikes. The lever to lower and lift the rack is ideal, it’s in a great spot with tread for ease of use. I highly recommend this bike rack.

I really appreciate the engineering that went into this product. It makes securing the bike so easy. In fact at first I thought it was too easy but after using it a few times I realized just how secure my insanely expensive bike was! I hardly ever take it off the vehicle now so I'm always ready to go bust a lung on my heavy-ish mtb.
Nice Rack! Easy to use, seriously. It takes less than a minute to place and secure a bike. And it's very secure.
The bike moves around a little, with movement of the vehicle, but it's just a visual thing. It's very secure.

I have only gotten to use the rack once so far but it performed well. The rack feels quite solid. I got the 1-1/4" version so I am interested to see how durable the hitch tube is with (2) bikes on it. The anti-rattle device seems to perform as advertised and keeps the rack pretty stable in the receiver. In retrospect I might have gotten the Sherpa 2. This is not due to any issue with this rack except that it is HEAVY at ~55lbs. I think this is a necessity for its ability to carry (2) 60lb bikes. I don't think most people would actually have bikes that heavy. I think the Sherpa would have suited me well and been more manageable at ~35lb.
I have used this bike rack a lot over this past year, including a 1,200 mile trip to Canada and back. The rack is very sturdy and held up really well. I really liked the easy cable locks and the ease of tilting the whole rack with bikes to access the back of my Prius. This was one of the best purchases I've made! As this is so well built, I'm counting on using it for many years to come!
High quality product! Written directions that came with the product were hard to follow, but we watched a youtube video that helped clear things up. Easier to put together with 2 people, but took us about an hour to unpack and assemble. We use this on a Mazda CX-5, with a 1-1/4" hitch receiver. Went on a road trip - 1,000 miles, no issues carrying 2 road bikes. Love the tilt feature to access/unload the back of the SUV with the bikes on the rack. We also love that the rack tilts forward nicely when no bikes are installed, taking up less space at the rear of the vehicle. It's a bit heavy, but as a 5'5" female of average shape, I can remove the rack myself and place it in our garage (I can't lift it above my waist). Overall, very pleased and recommend to others!
Great rack! This is our third hitch rack: we had a 4-bike Thule for hanging bikes by their tubes and then a 2-bike Thule platform rack whose 100-pound rating didn't permit loading 2 e-bikes, so that was our criterion for the search that led to this purchase. Assembly was not intuitive, so we had to re-do a few steps, but the final product is excellent: very stable. Two cautions: (1) Be sure to check whether any panniers block your tail lights; (2) Always use the included lock because each bike's rear wheel sits on a relatively flat surface and a big bump might dislodge it if the back strap isn't firmly seated.
This is the absolute best! I have a Aventon level and pace 350! It does wobble a bit even when tight. I was told metal does that cause if it was Ridgid it could crack. So with that said it’s the absolute best!
I accidentally bought the 1 1/4 inch hitch and opted to use an adapter instead of returning it. It works great as expected, however, the hitch connection is not as secure with the adapter so it moves a bit more than I wish it did. Still a high quality product

While a universal 2 to 1-14 adapter may work, it can cause wobble and movement, as you mentioned. Also it reduces your receivers capacity by 50 percent. Luckily, there is a specific adapter for this bike rack to do this! Kuat Bike Rack Shank Adapter - 1-14 to 2 # D101. This will not reduce your towing capacity.
My brother-in-law and I bought this bike carrier after seeing it in Hilton Head. We absolutely love it! It attaches easily and securely to the car tow, and is simple & secure to load the bikes. The bikes then transport solidly. We like the feature in which the loaded rack can tilt outward, allowing access to our SUV hatch. And folded up, the rack only requires a small space for storage. I would recommend this bike rack to everyone!

Still thoroughly thrilled with the performance of the rack. I now have some rust on the little ball which I would like to correct.
I'm very happy with the Kuat NV Base 2.0: this rack is solidly built and super simple to use. My neighbor has an older Thule hitch rack and commented that Kuat's lever to raise/lower/tilt was a big improvement over his rack. I did have a self-inflicted install issue, but Kuat's customer service was outstanding and went out of their way to help me resolve the issue. Finally, I'd never ordered from etrailer.com before, but I was pleased with their communication throughout the ordering and shipping process. Buy this rack with confidence.

Needed a rack for one e-bike & lighter road bike. Being in my early 80's I liked the features of the various hitch mounted 2-bike Platform Rack, tilting, units. After looking at the 3 main competitors, I chose the Kuat NV 2.0 model BA12 B, in the 11/4' size & alum. When I went to cart I was even happier to see a lower price than expected.
In the on-line ordering process, The program didn't want to recognize my true mailing address. Called for help and Ashley E completed the order; very pleasant.
Order was placed on a Friday morning and the box was on @ my 2nd. flr. apt. doorstep the following Wednesday afternoon.
Once I figured out the bolt/nut direction was reversed on each attachment things went well. In my case I attached the 1st. bike rack to the main apparatus and carried down flights of steps to driveway. Found shipping box useful to hold up the rack as I pushed stem into my car hitch receiver. The I completed attaching the outer bike rack.
The positioning/ tilting apparatus works very easy. Well engineered and sturdy product. Looks great on my '09 Vibe which is also charcoal color.

The product is perfect. Fulfilled our needs and continues to do so. Did get stopped by a cop warning who thinks it covers too much of my lic. plate looking at making plate holder that I can move around rack up or down , will survive hwy speeds, and wont be too easy for people to remove.

Excellent quality but assembly was a bit ridiculous. However, once together, nothing outperforms Küat in my opinion. Quality American made stuff right there.

Best rack ever. Secure and fits my S6 SJ Alloy 29er. This rack has all the bells and whistles you need. Including cable locks for the bikes for when you run in the store.
The Kuat rack has transported 2 electric bikes back and forth from New England to Florida on a Hyundai Tucson.

Bought a new Mazda 3 HB and decided to go with a hitch bike rack. I've had a Kuat Trasnfer bike rack. That rack did it's job, but I felt the Sherpa or NV 2.0 Base would be better in every way. I've bought hitches and Kuat from etrailer and I knew their online prices and customer service was the best in business so it was a no brainer to go back to buy another bike rack. It was a tough decision between the Sherpa and NV 2.0 Base, but I felt had all the right checks for me to go with the NV Base 2.0. Once I ordered the rack, it was shipped the same day and arrived at my doorstep a day earlier! The box was ok, but the packaging inside was excellent. The quality is top notch and the manual is easy to read. Not gonna lie, the rack is heavy. I knew it was going to be heavy after researching on it and it's not a big deal, but doing a solo assembly wasn't going to be easy. Luckily I had my son with me to assist. Assembly took 15min (with another person). Manual doesn't state NM torque, but I set it around 8-10nm to bolt down everything. Once I put it on the hitch, I turned the anti-rattle knob and it locked the bike rack down to the hitch like a vice grip. It's solid and wont budge at all! everything on this rack is sturdy and top quality. The bike and rack barely sways during the drive. I can't express how impressive this rack is! The only down side to this and it's not even the rack, it's the hitch lock pin. It feels like an after thought and it's too thin. it flops around. With the price I paid for this, I was hoping for something little better. Overall all, the Kuat NV 2.0 Base is hands down the best bike rack on the market and I'm glad I went with it.
