Question:

Im looking to purchase a Class 1 hitch for a tray-style bike rack for my daughters 2015 Subaru Hatchback. I only see Sedan or Station wagon as an option on your website, but her cars seems to identify as a hatchback. She used a bike trunk rack and bent the part of the car almost seemed like a flat spoiler. What do you recommend for a hitch? I can send pictures of the car to help confirm what it is. Thanks!

Hello Jonathan. So, as far as hitch fitment goes, the hatchback and the wagon are one and the same. We just have it listed as 5-door wagon instead of hatchback. So, for a class 1 hitch for the 2015 Subaru Impreza, I recommend the Curt # C11286. This has a 1-1/4" receiver so it will allow you to mount any bike rack made for a 1-1/4" hitch. My recommendation for a platform-style rack is the Kuat Transfer # KU64FR for a 1-bike rack, or the Kuat NV # BA12B for a 2-bike rack. The Kuat racks are very solid and user-friendly. I have been using the Kuat NV as my personal rack for several years now and it has been great. Loading and unloading is quick and painless, and the tilting/folding mechanism is very easy to use. It also looks cool on the back of the car in my opinion :)

Thank you!! I love the Kuat and just bought a new one. I want to give my older one to my daughter as she won't be using it has hard as we use our new on. Just gotta solve the hitch problem. I have a 2" received, but I'm pretty sure the Sherpa that we have can be modified for 1 1/4". Will take a peek at that.... The C11286 is an awesome price!! Thanks!!

@JonP There are versions of the Kuat Sherpa that will work with the 1-1/4" hitch as well as the 2" hitch. There is even a version that will work with both hitch sizes so please do verify which one you have. There is a 2" hitch available for the 2015 Impreza hatchback, the EcoHitch Class 3 Hitch # 306-X7241. These are not quite as affordable as the Curt hitch though.

@JesseM I'm pretty sure my old one can be fiddled with to fit 1 1/4". It's in my friends basement (we live in a small place!) and have to get over to look!! We'll see what's next. Plus the first one you recommend is pretty easy to install. My car service guy can do it pretty easily... hopefully I can order one pretty soon...
