Trailer Hitch Receiver & Bike Rack For 55 lb Ebikes on 2015 Toyota Corolla

Question:

What weight do the Hollywood and the Swagman racks support? I will be loading 2, 55-pounds bikes total weight 110 lbs. Car: 2015 Toyota Corolla

Let's go ahead and start with the trailer hitch for your 2015 Toyota Corolla, for which there are two options, both of which are Class I hitches with a 1-1/4" receiver:

- Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24913

- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11265

For your Corolla, the better option for a bike rack is the Draw-Tite because it has the better ground and bumper clearance. As for a bike rack, the Swagman Chinook # S64683 has a 45 lb per-bike capacity and the Hollywood Racks Destination # HLY94FR has a 35 lb per-bike capacity. There are just a pair of bike racks that are compatible with a Class I hitch and also have the weight capacity needed for your 55 lb electric bikes:

- Kuat NV 2.0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack # BA12B

- Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # TH903202

The NV has a 60 lb per-bike capacity and the EasyFold has a 65 lb per-bike capacity. Both are premium options but are the only way to transport your 55 lb electric bikes with a Class I trailer hitch. The EasyFold is the best option due to its ease of use as it comes with a ramp so you can simply roll your bikes up and onto the rack instead of having to lift them, so it's the option I recommend between the two.
