Versatile E-Bike Rack for Your RV

Swagman E-Spec

5th Wheels, motorhomes, and travel trailers have different suspensions than standard commuter vehicles. The Swagman E-Spec is designed to handle the extra bounce and sway that results from being placed further away from your vehicle's rear axle. It also gives your bikes 5" higher clearance than most other RV-rated platform racks. The E-Spec is constructed with reinforced steel, so it will easily carry 2 e-bikes that weigh up to 70 lbs each. But it's not just for your RV. You can also install it in the 2" hitch on your car, truck, or SUV.

Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Padded Locking Hooks

The E-Spec's mast has a pair of ratcheting hooks that hold your bikes securely by the top tube. And because they move independently, you can carry bikes of different shapes and sizes. The hooks have soft padding that won't scratch or scuff your bike's paint.

Sliding Wheel Cradles

Adjustable Wheel Trays

The wheel cradles slide to accommodate bikes with tires up to 5". Hand knobs let you release the cradles to slide along the bike tray and adjust for your specific bike lengths. Each cradle has a ratcheting strap so you can secure your bikes' wheels during transport.

Folding Design

Swagman E-Spec Folding DesignSwagman E-Spec Folding Design

If you're using the rack on a passenger vehicle and want the ability to fold it up for storage, you can remove the RV bolt at the back of the hitch bar assembly and replace it with the included pin and clip. In this configuration, you can fold the rack up when you aren't carrying bikes. This means you don't have to remove the rack to park in small lots at the trail head or in cramped parking garages. You must re-install the RV bolt to use the rack on your RV again.

Swagman E-Spec Folding Design

Whether on an RV or a passenger vehicle, you don't have to remove the rack for rear cargo area access. With your bikes unloaded, just pull up the spring-loaded release lever and fold the mast down.

Complete Security

Threaded Locking Hitch Pin

The ratcheting hooks have lock cores in the release buttons so you can secure your bikes to the rack. Simply slide the hooks over your bikes' top tubes until they click and lock them in place. There is also a keyed-alike locking hitch pin that secures the rack to your vehicle.

I have pulled my 33’ 5th wheel around 400 miles since I installed my Swagman E-Spec bike rack with a Rad Mini and a Rad expand E-bike on board and have had absolutely no problems. The bikes are held firmly and safely in place without shake or excessive vibration. I have had friends follow closely behind me just to verify the ride and they are equally impressed. This bike rack makes carrying two E-bikes effortless. I can load and unload the bikes by myself without any problem and the “keyed alike” feature make all the locking components quick and easy to access. etrailer delivered without any hassle and their helpfulness in recommending the 4”+ tire adapters was the ticket to making my rack fit one of my bikes.

There is still an effortless process in carrying my E-bikes on my Swagman rack. I now have well over five thousand miles on my camper with the bike rack attached. No worries, no complaints.

by:

I was worried about a rear bumper bike rack for my 2 Lectric bikes bouncing too much but after traveling 2,000 miles, we didn't have any trouble. The Swagman E-spec from etrailer bike rack was made specifically for my RV and attaches to the hitch that is rated at 300 lbs. The bike rack locks the bikes into the rack and I had a cover from [online] to protect the bikes from the elements. Loading and unloading is very easy. Prior to the bike rack, we had to fold the bikes in half and put them in a 80 gallon plastic tub and muscle them into the living room between the slides and that was a horrible experience having to lift them into and out of the RV. The supply chain pandemic issue took place and delayed the arrival by 6 months but worth the wait.

We are still happy with it. We have used it half a dozen camping trips and still solid.

by:

Awesome e bike carrier. I had a Swagman for my regular bike and I looked no further when I needed an e bike rack for my RV. Sturdy, reliable and Swagman and etrailer have some of the best customer service.

It works just like the day I got it. HIGH QUALITY. We have even used it on our RV. Love the locking brackets.

by:

I purchased this Swagman bike rack to haul two electric bikes on the back of our RV. We recently took our first trip with this bike rack and it worked great. The bikes were secure and the rack was stable. The only problem we had was the rack could have had a longer connection arm. The back bike handlebars hit the back of our RV and I had to place something over the handlebar grip to keep the bike from marking the back of the RV.

The bike rack is just what we need to transport our ebikes.

by:

Great unit! Have hauled two different styles of ebikes with this carrier and it is easily adjustable in so many ways to fit. Very strong and rock solid on how it locks into the hitch, nothing loose at all. Very happy!

Still doing great!

by:

Very impressed with the quality of the Swagman E-Spec bike rack. Easy to assemble and install on the 5th wheel 2” receiver. Solid hitch bolt locking system provided that reduces bike movement to a minimum. Locking in the bikes was very straight forward. I used an extra strap/lock just for my own piece of mind. Watching the bikes through the rear back-up camera also showed little movement over rough roads. Added a travel cover and netting to protect bikes during travel. Highly recommend this product for RV applications.

After 8 long trips since purchasing we have had ZERO issues. Very solid design and proven reliability. Bike cover works excellent as well. When traveling in rain or dusty roads. Bikes remain clean and dry. Highly recommended after a year of traveling.

by:

We where looking for a receiver hitch rack that we could use on both the back of our travel trailer and also the truck or car that didn’t beat up our bikes in transit. The Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack is one of the few racks on the market approved for travel trailer use and the answer to our bike rack needs. We don’t have E-bikes yet but see us aging into them so the E-Spec Bike Rack has growth potential for us as well. The bikes sit nicely in the platform and ride solidly. The locking arms are adjustable and no additional cross bar hardware is needed to lock the bikes into place.

by:

Well built and solid constructions. We have a 25ft Navion with a spare tire mounted on the back so I had to add an extender to the hitch mount, but the bikes are very solid and secure in the rack. We have two Rad Mini's that each weigh about 65 lbs without the batteries. I suggest putting some foam padding between the bikes while on the reck so they don't scratch each other. Also get a cover for the bikes to keep road dirt off them while travelling otherwise they get really grimy. I bought a motorcycle cover that easily fits over both bikes. Very glad I chose this rack and purchased it from etrailer.

Using a hitch extender isnt recommended. The additional length will cause more bouncing which could cause the rack or hitch to fail.

8/23/2023

the rack has performed well with no issues.

by:

One year and it is still doing great. Very strong and have used it to haul two 70 pound Lecteic step thru bikes from Ohio to Texas and to the Smokie Mountains on the back of our 31’ travel trailer. I do add ratchet straps to each side to cut down the side to side wobble. Use it on my truck as well.

by:

I needed a solid carrier on the back of my travel trailer that would not sway. The Swagman E-Spec Bike Carrier did an excellent job of filling that need.

Bill

3/26/2024

1 year in and the hitch is still riding tight with no sway. I highly recommend it.

by:

This has been an awesome bike rack. We rack two Aventon ebikes to it. Both bikes at 50 lbs each. I have attached it to both my Ford F150 and our Class A motorhome. It works great on both. There is little to no movement of the bikes while traveling, even behind the RV. It has traveled thousands of miles. Well-made and functions correctly each time.

I really like the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount Item #S94FR I gave 4 stars only because I had to send 4 hour modifying the hooks (shot and long) before I could use the Rack on my 2 electric bikes. The fit on the vehicle tight and secure, it strong enough to hold a lot heavy bikes then I have and only about an hour to set up minus the modification to the hooks to hold the bikes apart. Still looking for another long hook to make work.

Mike B.

8/19/2023

Still working great after getting another long hook and a little modification we have used it on 7 trips with no problems at all and more important no damage to the bike! looking forward to using it a lot more I am retiring this year and plan on going a lot more.

by:

Very sturdy working great on our 5th wheel. Item was shipped very quickly. Everything I've ordered from etrailer has been great there service is by far the best.

James

3/23/2024

Outstanding quality. We use it on our 5th wheel have traveled over 15000 miles with no problems.

by:

So far so good! I have used it on the back of my Jeep Grand Cherokee and on the back of our travel trailer. It is a pretty solid e-bike rack. I would definitely recommend this e-bike rack. We did purchase it for using on our travel trailer, but also works great on the back of our cars, which have 2" hitch receivers. On the travel trailer we also installed a Draw-Tite Hitch, along with a Curt 14" hitch extender for 2" trailer hitches and a Malone anti-rattle hitch lock system. We purchased everything from etrailer. I am very happy with how all of this works together for hauling our e-bikes on the back of our travel trailer.

by:

Overall I am satisfied with the E-Spec bike rack. I am confident my new ebikes now won't end up being dragged behind the trailer and they won't get beat up.
- Heavy! But that's required if you want to hang it on the back of a travel trailer.
- Assembly instructions
* Were reasonably clear
* Step 6 should reference Figure 5, not 4. And a note should mention the wheel trays are not all the same (I should know that?).
- Bike Installation Instructions
* Step 2 says put bike on inner position (close to bumper) and Step 5 says use the longer hook with the inner bike. Oops! My rack came with the short hook facing the inner bike! I fiddle-dinked for 10 minutes trying to figure if it was me or you. It was you. I could have removed the two hooks from their bases and swapped them but I just reversed their position on the upright and for my bikes it worked. Later when it is warmer I'll stare at it again.

Paul

1/1/2024

Pretty much the same. Heavy. And putting the front heavy ebike up and on the stand closer to the truck is a bit much. But it is all me and not the rack.

by:

My first bike rack is a swagman, only fit standard size tires. One of my bikes has 4 inch fat tires so I had to buy the fat tire adapter kit for my new bike rack. The bike rack was easy assembly, and the fat tire accessory cat fit like a glove. This rack easily carries my 85 pounds fat tire bike and a 60 pound electric bike together. this is a good rack for the price.

by:

First trip was over 500 hundred miles using the Swagman E-Spec. I was worried something bad was going to happen. Fortunately, everything held and had no problems. Family was driving behind us and they said everything looked good. My only little issue was the lock placement on the locking ratchet hooks. The locks face towards the trailer and you have to finagle the key backwards to lock and unlock the locking ratchet hooks.

Heather A.

8/25/2022

Please keep in mind for installation on a Fifth Wheel or Trailer use Hardware Kit included. To mount the E-spec you must remove the folding pin and install the supplied bolt, washers and nut.

by:

Easy to put together and I like the way it attaches to my 2" hitch, solid.

Kenny

4/29/2024

Rack works great for the 2 e-bikes we have.

by:

Warning...This is very high off the ground and if you are purchasing it for electric bikes, like me, it is a real challenge to get them up and loaded. So you better be strong or have help. I cant give it 5 stars only because I havent driven with it yet. However it was apparently easy to put together, Instructions were not very good, only pictures, and had a few pieces left over dont really know what to do with. But it only took about 30 min to assemble and put on the truck and see how all works. Looks strong and stable.

Mark

2/18/2024

The rack does what it is supposed to HOWEVER. They should put screws or stoppers of some kind on the end of each rail. Once the boot shimmied of the end and fell to the ground while underway. Damaging the bike. I later saw there are small holes at the end of each rail. If you just put a screw in each of those holes leaving some elevation to stop the boot from coming completely off it will solve the problem. Also you must be very dilligent about screwing in the shank to your receiver. It must be tight to limit the shakiness of the rack. We use is on the back of a RV where there is a lot of torque shaking the rack, bug it is strong and holds 2 electric bikes.

by:

Excellent rack, very secure and stable for being on the back of our 5th Wheel RV. We just bought a trike and wish they would make an adapter to convert the back single bike rack to a trike rack.

by:

I've been looking a eBike racks for about a month and finally decided on this Swagman rack because it's rated for use on an RV. That's what I needed because it will be on the back of my travel trailer. I had it on my wish list on another site but etrailer had it for $[XX] less, so I jumped on it. It was fairly easy to put together, I installed it on the hitch on my truck so I wouldn't have to wrestle with it on the floor of my garage, that made it easy to assemble. This rack is very well built, and is very solid, it doesn't move while on the hitch on my truck (I installed the RV hardware) so I have no doubt that in will be fine on the back of mhy travel trailer.

by:

This is a great product! Very sturdy. We’ve traveled over 4,500 miles with ours so far. Have full confidence in this rack. The clamps will rub your bike but our bike shop suggested to put clear shipping tape on our bikes where the clamps contact the bike for protection. Can’t wait to try that!

by:

We purchased this rack to carry two heavy (60+ lbs each) e-bikes on the back of our RV. The bike rack is sturdy, easy to use, holds our two step-through e-bikes, and locks well. Because our RV has a rear back tire that got in the way, we used a 12” extension hitch which works well with the rack. This is a great bike rack for our needs. We also watched the videos about the rack on etrailer before and after making this purchase, which were helpful. Thanks to the folks at etrailer for helping us select an appropriate and effective bike rack for our needs.

by:

Easy to install. Feel very secure. We travel with two 65 pound e-bikes and this hitch has been great. Suggest buying a high quality cover as the cheaper one we used just to cover bikes previously as it didn’t hold up to travel.

by:

This rack holds our ebikes safely and securely. I would have given it 5 stars except for a few things. First, you need to have the pedals in just the right position to bring the center bar up. It can be a bit of a pain to get everything lined up while you are holding the bike and trying to put the lock bar on. Second, the cradles for the bike tires will not fit all fat tires. Our tires are 3-1/2" and it was close, but we had to bend the sides of the cradles out in order for the tires to fit all the way down.

  • Why Aren't All Bike Racks Rated for Use at Rear of Travel Trailer
The reason some bike racks can't be used at the rear of a trailer is because the ride quality is much rougher there when compared to a vehicle. This is because the suspension of a trailer is not as advanced as vehicle suspension and because of the much larger distance between the rear axle of the trailer and the rear of the trailer. The correct adapter is going to depend on the rise or drop you need: - 2-1/4" Drop/Rise: Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-2 - 2" or 6" Drop/Rise: Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-6 - 2" or 8" Drop/Rise: Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-8 - 2" or 10" Drop/Rise: Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-10 As for a bike rack...

  • Determining If Curt Bumper Mount Hitch C19101 Can Carry Bike Rack On 1998 Dutchemen Pop Up Camper
As long as the rear bumper on your 1998 Dutchemen 1203 Pop Up Camper is 2" x 4" then the Curt RV Bumper Hitch - 2" # C19101 you were looking at will work perfectly for you. For a non-trailered load like a bike rack, you will also need to use the Curt Stabilizing Strap # 18050 to keep from voiding the hitches warranty. This hitch has a 350lb tongue weight rating so it will be plenty strong to support your bike rack weighing roughly 160lbs with bikes, but your bumper may not be this strong....

  • Availability Of 4-Bike Rack Rated For Use On 5th Wheel Trailer
Well I have two different options for you, but there's not a 4-bike platform rack rated for use on your 5th wheel trailer. If being a platform rack is the most important you'll want to go with the 2-bike Swagman E-Spec # S94FR which works with bike's up to 70lbs each and is rated for use on 5th wheel trailers. If transporting 4 bikes is the most important then you'll have to use a hanging rack, of which I recommend the Yakima LongHaul RV # Y02476 which is rated for use on the back of...

  • Can etrailer Hitch Install on 2022 Grand Design Imagine XLS 23 LDE to Carry E-Bike Rack
The street bikes you want to carry with the Swagman e-bike rack # S94FR would need to weigh less than 70 lbs for the rack to have the needed capacity. So assuming your bikes weighed each 70 lb plus the weight of the carrier which is 60 lb this would put you at 200 lbs total which is less than the tongue weight capacity of the etrailer RV bumper hitch part # e38HR which is rated for 350 lb tongue weight. So the hitch itself would be strong enough but what I can't answer is if your bumper...

  • Best E-Bike Rack for Fifth Wheel Hitch
While Thule does not yet have any bike racks that match your needs, I do have other recommendations from other brands. For absolute versatility, I've been very impressed by the Hollywood Racks RV Rider # HLY64FR. It checks off ALL the boxes: fat tires, 80lb heavy e-bikes, 5th wheels, step-through frames, carbon fiber frames. It's amazing how it can handle all those different specialty specs when only a couple years ago, bike racks were proud of being designed for just one of them. The only...

  • Recommended 2-Bike Hitch Rack for SUV and Sprinter RV
Hitch bike racks rated for RV use typically do not offer a tilt function as they need to be as strong as possible to withstand the stresses found at the rear of an RV. A hinged tilting mechanism would tend to weaken the overall rack structure. But some of our available RV racks do disassemble or fold for more convenient storage and vehicle access. For instance, the Swagman E-Spec 2-Bike Platform Rack # S94FR, which includes locks both for the rack and for your two bikes, features solid...

  • Recommended E-Bike Bike Rack and Swing Away Combo
I have a couple of parts that will make a great combination and do exactly what you are looking for. They are the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack item # S94FR and the Saris Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks item # SAR36VR. This combo is extremely popular with our Jeep customers because it not only clears the spare tire but also swings away towards the passenger side so the rear can be opened. The Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack item # S94FR has a 70 lbs capacity per bike. It is built with enough...
