Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at a replacement locking long and short hooks for your Swagman bike racks. So this will work on specific types of Swagman bike racks. So for example, I have this Swagman Chinook right here. It's an exact replacement part.
If you're not sure if it's gonna fit your bike rack or not, please check out the product page where we have an updated list of the different bike racks that this will work with or replace with. I have the original version in my hands and I've already replaced the hooks here. So if you've managed to damage, break or lose either your short or your long hook or both on your bike racks, and you need a replacement, this comes as a set of both the short and the long hook. Because they're keyed alike, you should get them as a set, that way you can still use one key with both hooks. This ratchets down on the mast of your bike rack and secures your bike by its frame.
You can press this button in or to loosen it and release it, but once you have it locked with the included keys that then freezes that button and means you can't engage it. Here we have the old hook. So if it's still able to be used, just press the button and completely lift it out. If by any chance it's frozen, you will either have to disengage the lock yourself by drilling that out, or just try to figure out a way to lift this up. But once it's out of the way of your mast, it's very easy to replace it.
You just drop your replacement part in and just like that, you're ready to go. So if you did break or damage your hooks on your bike rack, this is definitely gonna be the exact replacement part for you. Also, please make sure you get the right parts for the right situation. I ordered this without knowing fully if it would work. The information and photos were very helpful. It arrived today and was perfect for my application! My mokwheel carrier had no center post and allowed movement. I drilled 2 holes through and bolted this on. Makes for a perfect safety on my carrier. Very happy and great customer service.
This is my se ond Swagman bike rack. We love it!
I owned my bike rack for 8 months with very light use, and stored inside when one of the hooks cracked and could not be repaired. When I purchased the bike rack I received hooks and a trailer hitch lock as well as locking cable that were all on the same key. I was disappointed when my replacement part was not covered under warranty, but also frustrated to find out that it would have separate key from all the other locking components on my bike rack.
I have an older Hitch mount bicycle rack. It is the first I have ever owned. I use it to carry a long wheel base Recumbent and my wife's townie when we take trips. I needed to find one of the bars with the rubber sleeve that clamps down the bike frame. None of my local bikes shops had the correct version, as mine was an older model. I heard about etrailer.com so i called the customer service number and spo0ke with George. J.. He knew which part I needed and suggested I get both hooks for the Swagman G-10 that now had locks built in. Thanks George J. The perfect fit , works great and now my bikes are more secure when mounted in the Rack.

The parts did not fit the center post. They did not lock on (post too small). I did try to match it to the Swagman hitch Thai have. I made do and Gerry rigged it.

This is a replacement hook for one that was stolen from my bike rack. When the bikes are not on the rack I will keep the hooks in the car from now on. I am glad Etrailer supports its products with parts. Many companies do not. It shipped quickly and fit perfectly

I have owned every type and brand of bike carrier ever made. None compare to this one. My bikes go everywhere with me now. Whether across town or across the country the bikes ride rock solid. They dont bounce, they dont touch each other, they dont touch my car or truck. And all this works without any extra straps or bungee cords. The carrier works on my wifes Honda with 1-1/4 receiver, on my Chevy Silverado with 2 receiver, and even on my Jeep with a large off road spare tire.
Timely delivery and the correct part.
The Key Lockable aspect of the hooks offers that extra bit of security for your expensive bike.

I love the product, however when I contacted your company regarding whether the bike rack could be used on an RV your customer representative said it was RV approved. Recently as I was putting the rack on my 5th wheel I noticed a label on the rack , Do not Use On Trailers or 5th Wheels?!?!? I am confused.

These hooks are awesome. I bought my bike rack before Swagman included the locks on the hooks. These make me feel a lot better about leaving my bike on my car while I run into the grocery store or get a bite to eat after a ride... and i just keep the key on my key ring. They are nice and snug so my bike doesn't bounce all over the place.

I bought this replacement set of hooks for my e-bike rack. I have two e-bikes and they both have low openings as they are step through bikes. This means that the original hook set did not work to keep my bikes locked on the rack. So I got this second set, took apart the locks and switched the longer new one for the shorter one, and put them back together so I now have a matched set of short retaining hooks, with the hooks that have the same locking keys. Now my bikes are secured and I can lock them on my vehicle. It would be nice if Swagman sold the long and short hooks separately, but now I just have an extra long set for spares if I get different types of bikes
