Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Swagman Ramp and Bridge for Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 Bike Racks

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at Etrailer. Today we have these Swagman ramp and bridge attachments. This is gonna be an add-on product for your Swagman bike racks. We're gonna take a look at some of its features right here. This is gonna be something I highly recommend considering if you have your heavier electric bikes. Now, while this still isn't a foolproof solution, it's still an improvement compared to lifting your bikes up and onto your rack.

So we'll talk about those key things right here at etrailer.com. The tray is gonna look like this when you have it all put together, and it is designed to be stored inside your vehicle when not in use. Now there are different ramps available from Swagman for their different racks. So the main thing you look at is do you have a Skaha or Escapee series that has a tray Because the ramp for that will have brackets on the ends. This one is designed for the other bike racks, like the E-SPEC, which is what we have here, and you'll see this open hole on the end, which is designed to fit onto the square tube of your bike rack.

The bridge nests onto the compacted ramp. So you can see this tab in the back and you can see these knobs. So the bridge has that tab, you just pull that bridge out and it detaches from the ramp. And then it easily fits onto the center base of your bike rack, creating a straight-across platform now. Each side of your ramp is gonna have this opening, so you don't have to worry about which side goes on which.

Now, what you do have to look at though is when you do put the ramp on, if you have it at an angle, it's gonna look like this where it sits over the lip. That's gonna give you an easier loading angle. But if you're more concerned about the stability and you feel like you need a little extra support, you can have it fit underneath the tube. This is gonna have a sharper angle though, so just pick and choose what works best for your bike. You adjust the angle of the ramp by extending the ramp out.

So this can go from 37 and a half inches in its shortest position, all the way out to 57 and a half inches. And this is adjusted by the knobs underneath. So once you've picked your spot, tighten down those knobs, and you're good to go. This will have the same capacity as your bike rack with a tire with capacity of up to five inches and a weight capacity of up to 80 pounds. You saw me load up this second bike in the beginning of the video, and that's just to show you the interaction of two bikes together. You're always gonna have some kind of conflict with your handle bars, your pedals, your seat posts, things like that whenever you work with multiple bikes. But the good news is that the ramp can be used on whichever side of the rack, whether it's the front, the back, left, or the right. Another thing that I would recommend doing is removing those hooks for the center mass whenever you do use this ramp and bridge. You can always put the hook on afterwards once you have your bike in place. (hook cranking) As someone that isn't always the strongest or struggles with lifting up super heavy bikes, I always appreciate having the option to get a ramp, and in our case, a bridge installed on the rack, just to make things a little bit easier. Hopefully this video explained how the ramp and bridge works and which ramp and bridge to get for your different bike racks. If you have any questions, you can always give us a call or ask me a question here on the website. But today, this was a look at the Swagman ramp and bridge add-on for your Swagman bike racks right here at etrailer.com. My name's Evangeline and I hope you enjoyed the journey.

The Swagman ramp and E-Spec bike rack have worked great on our vehicle and travel trailer. The E-Spec rack is one of the few racks rated for RV use. The ramp really helps load our heavy e-bikes. This motivates us to get out and bike more!

Hey William. I absolutely love the ramp on this Yakima rack so I am glad it has come in handy for you. Is there a spot or location that you love to bike at?

by:

The Ramp is OK, no complaints and works as intended (though the Swagman E-Spec rack I'm using it with has some issues - see my separate review about it). The Bridge doesn't work so well however. Out of the box it fit nicely onto the E-Spec rack but trying to use it with a 60lb Lectric XP 3.0 e-bike was problematic. The weight of the e-bike combined with the poor design of the E-Spec rack for ramp loading put a lot of stress on the Bridge and even after the very first use the tabs that hold it in place on the E-Spec rack became bent - making it less secure on the rack and impossible to snap the Bridge back into the Ramp for storage - I had to bend the tabs back into position in order to fit into the Ramp, I worry with constant bending, even though slight, the tabs (metal) will become fatigued and break off over time.

Ramp and bridge work great on Swagman G10 which I purchased 2018. The G10 continues to serve well after thousands of miles traveled. All parts still in good working order after many loads of bike travels. Now, the ramp and bridge will assist in loading a heavier e-bike. The ramp and bridge are solid and wellbuilt. Looking forward to many more years of use.

by:

More sturdy than I expected. Fits our rack perfectly. Makes our heavy fat tire e-bikes easier to load.

by:

Works better than expected. No more lifting our 70lb e bikes

by:

Extremely helpful to a senior when loading and unloading an electric bike. Easier than lifting on to a rack on the back of the truck. Ordering from ETrailer is a snap. Never had a problem with the orders I have placed with them.

by:

It allows my wife to load her heavy ebike by herself. It’s still not a smooth transition to the carrier. It doesn’t store on the carrier like we thought it would.

by:

Works great, and shipped on time as pro mised!!!

by:

Ramp nicely fits on the rack and stores away easily. Greatly helps the process of putting the ebike on the rack with minimal effort.

by:

Great accessory for my Swagman eBike rack. Makes loading a heavy bike much easier!

by:

Excellent product. This lock has been in use for a year now with no problems or issues.

by:

Works okay but still hard to bridge the gap between the wheel cups. But, it does work and makes it possible to load the bikes by myself.

by:

Is exactly as advertised. We have not yet used if for the season, so might follow up after use.

by:

Fits on rack securely. Very sturdy. Have to take off the bike hooks while putting bike on rack, but no big deal

by:

Delivery was fast - product works as stated and very helpful in placing 2 e-bikes on Swagman bike rack.

by:

Works well. It should come with the bike rack instead of being an add on though.

by:

Worked as expected.

by:

Solid, well built ramp. Easy to us.

by:

The ramp made loading my 70lb eBike so much easier, and was easy to use!

by:

The bridge is useless.

  • Correct Loading Ramp for Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack
The Loading Ramp for Swagman Skaha and Escapee Bike Racks # S59SR is only going to work with the Swagman Skaha and Escapee bike racks and will not work with your E-Spec bike rack. Instead, you're going to want to check out the Swagman Ramp and Bridge for Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 Bike Racks # S32YR which is going to work with your E-Spec.

  • Width of Swagman Ramp and Bridge for Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 Bike Racks

  • Recommended Bike Rack With Ramp For E-Bikes On A Class C Motorhome
Hi Emily, For a motorhome rated e-bike bike rack that would also have a ramp option I recommend the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack # S94FR. It has a 70lb per bike capacity and optional ramp # S32YR with an 80lb capacity to help load your heavy e-bikes. It's a frame mount design with ratcheting hooks that clamp down on the frame along with wheel cradles with straps that can fit tires up to 5" wide for a secure fit. Since this will be on a motorhome you will have to remove the pin & clip used...

  • Recommended Swagman Bike Rack for E-Bikes with Easy Bike Loading
I have attached a list for you below with all of our Swagman platform style bikes racks. If you have e-bikes, the two options you should be considering are the Swagman Current Bike Rack part # S64678 and Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack part # S94FR. The Current has a 60 lb per bike weight capacity and the E-Spec has a 70 lb per bike weight capacity. The Current is compatible with both 1-1/4" and 2" receivers whereas the E-Spec is only compatible with 2" receivers. In regards to the tray height,...

  • Recommended Ramp for Loading E-Bikes on Swagman Bike Rack
I do have an option for you but the only ramp available for a Swagman Bike Rack is the Swagman Ramp and Bridge for Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 Bike Racks part # S32YR. This ramp only works on Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 models so if you have any other model it will not fit. In which case, our only option would be to offer you a new rack which can accept this ramp. • Difference Between the Swagman Current Bike Rack S76SR & S64678
Hey Rob, the only difference between the Swagman Current Bike Rack # S76SR and # S64678 is that # S76SR includes a ramp and # S64678 does not - you could also purchase the ramp separate with # S32YR as well. Both of these bike racks will work with two bikes, has a max weight capacity of 60 lbs per bike, a max tire width of 5", and has a tilting mast so you can still get to your rear hatch. Feel free to let me know in the comments if you have anything else I can help you with!

To replace your Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-048-8 I recommend using this replacement shank from Gen-Y: - Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-404 I like this option because it's more heavy-duty than pretty much every other adapter, plus it has a receiver above the shank so your bike rack will be at a higher location for better clearance. • Is There A Ramp Attachment Available For The Swagman E-Spec S94FR
Hello Phil, we have just the thing. I do see that you ordered the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack # S94FR from us a little over a year ago. There is a ramp attachment that is made specifically for this rack, the Swagman Ramp and Bridge for Swagman Current, E-Spec, and G10 Bike Racks Item # S32YR. This is a telescoping rack that can extend from 37-7/16" to 57-9/16".

  • Can Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack be Used on Class B Motorhome
To determine whether or not the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR can safely be used on your Class B motorhome you just need to measure from the center of your rearmost axle to the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch receiver. If this is 72" or greater, then your motorhome is considered a motorhome and you need to abide by the lowered weight rating. For a bike rack that doesn't have these types of restrictions and can have a ramp added on I recommend the Swagman E-Spec: - Swagman E-Spec #...

  • E-Bike Rack Recommendation for a Class B Motorhome
Hy Jenn, thanks for reaching out! The Yakima EXO Swing Away 2 Bike Rack w/ Enclosed Cargo Carrier # Y34ZR would be perfect but the bike rack can only handle 40 lb bikes and most E-Bikes weigh over that. For your application I recommend using the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR and using the Ramp and Bridge # S32YR to help make loading the bikes easier. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to add a cargo box to the mix - you're only options from here would be to add a box to the roof (which you said...

  • Recommended E-Bike Rack for RV with Load Assist
The Saris Door County Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # SAR42RR is the only lift bike rack we have but it isn't rated for use on an RV. Instead the next best thing we have is the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack # S94FR which can be paired with the Ramp and Bridge # S32YR to make it easier to load your heavy bikes onto the rack. The E-Spec is compatible with any type of RV (towable or a motorhome) as long as you use the included bolt as opposed to the pin and clip.
