No more leaning or stretching to get bikes on the rack. The Kuat Transfer V2’s U-shaped frame lets you step right inside the platform so you can lift closer to your body and set each bike in place with less effort. It’s easier on your back, faster to load, and keeps everything balanced. The open design even helps keep a clear line of sight when the rack is folded up.
Carbon frames, custom paint, or any finish stay protected thanks to wheel-only contact. The ratcheting hooks clamp over the front tire to hold bikes firmly without touching the frame. Just roll the wheel into the cradle, swing the arm up, and press until snug. The pivoting rear cradle and ratcheting strap lock the back wheel down so both bikes ride steady through every turn.
With room for 2 bikes at up to 40 lbs each, the Transfer V2 handles most daily rides—road, gravel, or trail setups alike. It fits wheel sizes from 18" to 29", wheelbases up to 50", and tires up to 3.0" wide (or wider with an accessory strap kit). That range covers everything from BMX bikes to full-size mountain builds without extra fuss or adjustments.
Grabbing gear from the back is easy even when bikes are loaded. Step on the spring-loaded foot lever to tilt the rack down and open your cargo area, keeping both hands free to steady the bikes. When you’re done riding, lift it back up or fold it flat against the vehicle in one motion. The pedal sits clear of the frame so it’s always reachable without crawling around tires or spokes.
A tamper-resistant ball cam tightens inside the hitch tube using the included 8 mm wrench to eliminate movement and noise on rough roads. That same wrench only works with this rack, adding another layer of security. A 1/4" braided steel cable threads through both frames and locks back into the carrier so bikes stay put wherever you park. Durable powder-coated steel construction resists rust and holds up for trip after trip.

It was easy to assemble and all tools were provided. Also a nice burlap bag to keep them in. I haven’t actually traveled with it yet but mounts a heavy bike with ease. Not great with front fender bikes. The clamp needs to be close to the fork to hold the bike. Just the nature of the beast.
Nice piece of engineering. Haven't given a big trip test yet, but it did go together easy, all the necessary tools included.

Handles the weight of two bikes really well. Somewhat bulky - but it has to be in order for it to be sturdy.
Has worked well for the first year. Was easy to assemble and is easy to use.

Still as good as new. It gets a lot of use.
Easy to assemble, seems very well engineered. Arrived undamaged and complete. Haven’t used yet.

Great using it today
A solid rack, well designed and engineered, with all the right features. Assembly went smoothly and the instructions were clear. Maiden voyage of the rack on the car proved that I picked the right rack.
Straightforward to assemble and rock so lid.
Works great, no issues.
I love my Kuat rack!. It is perfect for all my bikes and meets my needs. I would not hesitate to buy another one or recommend it to others.
Excellent bike rack for my two class 1 ebikes. Easy to instal and easy to use.
At over $500 Kuat should preassemble these racks vs. all the compartments of unlabeled bolts, nuts, spacers, tools, straps etc…. Yes, it’s good to know how it all fits together for future tightening and repairs, but very time consuming when parts roll around… I got out a centimeter ruler lat one point. As for the rack, darn solid for a 1.25 inch hitch and first go I like the ball tightening screw and needing a wrench to listen ads a bit of security vs. earlier handled models. On a Prius C I need to tilt down 6”to open the hatch.
Long term the ball tightener may be a point of failure. Lock is higher quality than I expected and appropriate for vintage hard tail bikes.

After a year with the Kuat bike rack I am very happy with it, it is very easy to put on the vehicle and with the middle open its very easy to put the bikes on and off! I would very highly recommend!
I've mounted this rack on a 2018 Fiat 500 Abarth, & it's perfect for my needs -- carrying 2 mountain bikes with a longer wheelbase (47+ inches), weighing between 32-35lbs each. The rack was relatively easy to assemble, & its overall weight is manageable (I will be taking it off of the car after biking ventures). I'm pleased with how stable the bikes are while mounted on the rack. In Seattle, our roads are VERY bumpy. Furthermore, I like the fact that the open frame allows you to get close to the innermost bike when taking it off of the rack. This allows for better body mechanics when dismounting heavy bikes. Though the hitch receiver sits pretty low on my Fiat Abarth, I haven't had any ground clearance issues, as long as I take it slow on steeper driveways. Likewise, I've had zero clearance issues between the bikes & the vehicle, & with the rack folded up. My only minor issue is that I've found the J-arm to be a bit 'sticky' when trying to disengage it from the front wheel of the mountain bike. However, I'm guessing this will likely get easier over time. Overall, I think this is a solidly built rack for an affordable price.
Went together easily, test drive on area rough city streets looked good. Very pleased to this point.
I've had a couple of hitch mount bike carriers in the past but they were hanging carriers. I am no fan of those especially with the geometry that doesn't allow for the bike to sit straight. The Kuat Transfer rack was a huge upgrade for me. Loading and unloading bikes is easy. Bikes are very secure on the rack as well. I like the pedal for lifting and lowering but you will need to use your hand instead of your foot depending on the position.
I was recently sent a recall notice for the rack where the pedal/lever can cause the rack to release. There's a kit that you can put on or you can have it put on by a professional. They will send you the kit and strap (that you can use temporarily until you get the kit installed). I have the kit but not have installed it yet but from what I can tell, it has another small lever that you'll need to push out of the way as you press on the larger lever. I don't expect the function of the rack to be any different.
I use the bike rack every week. I have never had an issue with it and am very satisfied. It does what it's supposed to while tucking away while not in use. I would buy it again.
Great so far. I haven't taken the rack on a long road trip yet but if I have any problems or suggestions I will let you know. I was impressed with the quality & strength of this bike rack. Also, I wanted a rack that was easy to set up, load. fold down and store. I'll include photos of the rack with 2 bikes and one showing how I store the rack in my garage when not mounted on my vehicle.
