Video Transcript for Curt Hitch Ball - Trailer Hitch Ball - A-90 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number A-90. This is the Curt hitch ball with a 2" diameter, medium shank and it's rated at 10,000 pounds and that comes with a gross towing weight. This hitch ball is going to give us a shank diameter which is this portion here of right at 1 1/4". So, when choosing a ball mount, you want make sure that the ball mount does have at least 1 1/4" opening to receive the 1 1/4" diameter shank that our ball mount has on it. The shank length, measuring from the bottom of the flange, the bottom of the shank bar is going to measure about 2 5/8". If we take the measurement from the bottom of the flange to the top of our hitch ball, it's going to give us a measurement of 2 3/4". Now again, this ball does have a capacity of 10,000 pounds.

It comes with a nut and a lock washer. Another thing that I want to mention real quick is that when choosing a ball mount you want to make sure that the ball mount has a 1/2" to 1" thick draw bar. As you can see on our ball mount today, it measures right around 1". So, it's definitely between that 1/2" to 1" mark. So this would be an appropriate ball mount to use. It also has 1 1/4" size diameter hole for our hitch ball. So the way this would install is we would take our ball, place it through the hole, place on our lock washer and secure it by tightening down our nut.

Our nut size is 1 7/8". So you need to make sure you have that size of wrench or socket to tighten this down and torque it down to the specifications listed by the manufacturer. That's how you install it and that's going to complete our review of part number A-90. That's the Curt hitch ball with a 2" diameter, medium shank rated at 10,000 pounds. .

Economy shipping was lightning fast! Product is just what I wanted; it is pulling my 7,500lb horse trailer with no problem. The other reviews that worry about the chrome scratching...I think most of us know that's a given when one places a few tons of metal on top. Great product so far! 159864

Very good product and easy to install. My configuration allowed the lift brackets that came with the order to be used, so I didn't have to order the bracket kit. The installation videos on the e-trailer were excellent. Delivery was also prompt, only four days for me. My trailer only required a 2" ball rather than the 2 5/16" ball supplied. I had trouble finding a 2" ball locally with a 1 1/4" diameter shank. I ordered this from e-trailer and again delivery was prompt. I did have to buy some larger wrenches to work with the 2" nuts on the balls so keep that in mind if your a due-it-yourselfer. The manual was pretty good, but I got more out of the videos. I little more description on the initial setting of the friction sway control would have been helpful (i.e. is the factory setting midway? lowest? highest)? 267227

I ordered 2 of these hitch bells, as they are hard to locate due to the large shank diameter. They are of good quality and the service and shipping time were excellent. 566918

Simplicity is the key here. Very easy to order, customer service (Lisa D) asked a few questions about vehicle and what I needed to Tow, and like magic, she found this at a very good price which saved me $$$. It was very easy to install, heavy duty construction!! It shipped faster than other online sites could have done, a day and half later, UPS showed up with it. Back to installation, I watched the video and it worked as advertised. I never used one before, but it just works. Very satisfied. 552984

FYI - you will need a 1 7/8" wrench. Heavy Duty 2" without using bushings on large hitches. Perfect condition when arrived 020514 450 ft. lbs torque on the nut. Woo-Wee. Eat your breakfast! 115787

My order was received on time and with everything that was ordered. The hitch has been put on my trailer and working great. Thanks to Suzanne and her knowledge of the product was excellent.Thank You. The 2" ball was just what I needed thought it may have not been available for the bigger hitch but thanks to Suzanne it was just what I needed. Thanks again and I'm sure if I ever need more from E Trailer I will be in touch. 162651

The ball is perfect fit for 1-1/4 receiver hole. A couple of taps to the top of the ball to get it fully seated and yiur ready to torque the nut down. If your looking for a heavy duty ball, this is rated at 10k lbs and should do the job. I was impressed with not only fulfillment but also the speed of shipment and the price was unbeatable! Customer service was also top notch taking time to contact me throughout the order and shipping process. No doubt this will serve my purpose of hauling around my trailer used for cars, tractors, motorcycles and other miscellaneous project items. I've included a couple pictures so you can get an idea of how heavy duty this ball is built. Great buying experience all the way around. 472755

High quality. the nut is bigger than the balls with the 1" shank. I have a wrench for the nut on 1" shank but not this one, I was able to get it tight enough with a monkey wrench and a bench vice. you could probably get a wrench form harbor freight for cheep or take it somewhere and have them install it. 27248

After balking at the cost to have an auto-shop add a trailer to our Toyota Highlander, we found etrailer.com and decided to take a chance. The "how to" videos factored considerably in our decision to buy ... they made it look so easy! And surprise! It really -WAS- that easy. We used standard block-type ramps (the kind you can buy for $40 ) to get the SUV up off the ground high enough to get underneath to do the work. Everything came off as easy as it was showed in the videos. Other than the fact this bar is a heavy so we had our teen daughter help hold it steady while we bolted it into place (i.e., get help for when you go to lift it), it went super smooth. Thanks for saving us $280 over the cost the car dealer quoted us! P.S. - be sure to watch the linked videos so you get the right trailer lighting attachment and ball hitch for your new hitch. 510345

Purchased this item due to its 5 ton rating. It was easy to install (with the proper sized wrenches). Even though my max towing limit is 9800 lbs and my actual towing weight approximately 3 tons. The stresses caused by towing and braking could test the limits of your equipment. I would rather have the piece of mind of extra strength, than to meet the minimum limit. It does have some slight galling / brinelling of the ball surface after a year. This item is difficult to find locally, as most available are 4 ton load limit. Etrailer.com had these in stock and shipped quickly. Thank you. 619135

  • Trailer Hitch Extension for Use Behind a Truck Bed Camper
  • I have two options that will allow for you to extend the connection point between your truck and trailer. The best option for you will depending on the gross trailer weight (GTW) and tongue weight (TW) of your trailer. As long as the GTW and TW of your trailer does not exceed 5,000 lbs and 500 lbs respectively, the Titan Hitch Box Extension part # RP45018 will work well for you as long as you trim the bar down to 41". If the GTW and TW of your trailer exceeds the above 5,000lb/500lb rating...

  • I can give you all the parts needed, including the wiring, transmission cooler and suspension enhancement so you can safely tow with your 2007 Grand Caravan with Stow-N-Go seats. For a trailer hitch you can use the Class III Draw-Tite # 75305 which is a bolt-on installation and has a 2" hitch; I've added a photo showing you how the hitch looks when installed on an '07 Grand Caravan. • Weight Distribution Solution for V-Nose Trailer
  • There is a way for you to use a weight distribution system with a V-nose trailer, it will require chain hangers # RP58305 which can be bolted or welded on to the side of your Featherlite. As for the system itself, I strongly recommend the Reese Strait-Line, such as # RP66084, though you will need to find the correctly rated system. The two main reasons one truck would pull a trailer...

  • Recommended Class V Hitch For 1995 GMC K2500 6.5L Diesel
  • For your 1995 GMC K2500 with 37 inch wide frame, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V XD - 2" # C15325. This is a confirmed fit for your truck and is a heavy duty hitch rated for 2400 lbs tongue weight and 16000 lbs gross towing weight. With weight distribution, that towing capacity rating increases to 17000 lbs. These ratings may be higher than your truck capacities, so you will want to make sure to check your owners manual. The distance from the mounting...
