Question:

Hi, Im wondering why you recommended the Reese Straightline Weight Ditribution with Sway Control vs. the Fastway e2, or Equal-I-zer 6000/600 system. Again, the TV is a Toyota Tacoma with tow package rated at 6800/680 towing a Little Guy Max with GVWT of 3800. What are the benefits and limitations of each system?

Your tongue weight is most likely going to fall between 400 and 800 lbs so the best setup would be the Reese Strait Line part # RP66083 which has that exact tongue weight range and features the only sway control designed to fight sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.

The biggest advantage the Strait Line systems have over the Equalizer and Fastway is the proactive sway control system. The Dual Cam setup works to keep the trailer in a straight line at all times and even around corners acts as a sway bar as the outside bar end up putting more spring bar tension on the outside of the trailer. That's why we recommend it so highly. Only real downside is the cost is on the higher side and some claim they make a bit more noise. But the reality is that all WD systems make some noise. The Equal-I-Zers are very nice setups that a lot of people swear by. They use a passive sway control that can only try to tame sway and reduce it as it happens so it's not the best approach. Still a lot of people are very happy with this setup. The Fastway systems are the entry-level line by the same company as Equal-I-Zer. The sway control isn't quite as refined and the warranty is shorter at 10 years compared to limited lifetime.
