Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this CURT heavy-duty forged ball mount with the 2 5/16 diameter hitch ball, and this is for a 2 1/2 inch hitch. Has a 20,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this ball mount with the attached hitch ball will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. This shank portion right back here is what'll slide into your 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver opening.
And the hitch ball right up front, this provides your connection point for your trailer's coupler. Now, the ball size again is a 2 5/16 of an inch diameter. This ball mount will also provide a drop like the position it is in now. Or if you flip it over and change the ball around, you could get it into the rise position to fit your application. It is a solid, one-piece forged steel construction.
It is a corrosion resistant, carbide black powder coat finish on it, and a chrome finish on the ball. Now, in this position, if it's installed, it's gonna get you a four inch drop, which will be measured from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform. And again, I mentioned, if you flip this over and then change the ball around, you can get a 2 1/2 inch rise. The hitch ball does come installed and it is torqued to factory specs. It is, as I mentioned, a nice, corrosion resistant chrome plating.
Now, to install this into your hitch receiver, it will require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock to secure this ball mount to your hitch receiver. Now, those items are not included. We do sell those separately on our website. The hitch pin hole diameter is 5/8 of an inch. So, if you have a 5/8 of an inch hitch pin and clip, you can use the one you have, or as we mentioned, we sell them separately.
And we do even sell a hitch lock if you wanna secure it to the hitch receiver. Application, again, fits 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver openings. Gross towing weight capacity, which is labeled on the top of the hitch ball, 20,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity of 2,000 pounds. But that should do it for the review on this CURT heavy-duty forged ball mount with the 2 5/16 diameter ball for a 2 1/2 inch hitch..
