Question:
i have a 2014 suburban with towing package. The tow capacity is 8300 lbs. I have a boat/trailer combo that approaches the 8000 lbs. Would a weight distribution hitch improve the towing? Can you recommend one for my vehicle?

Hi Joe!
A weight distribution hitch will definitely help the towing experience with your set up. Anything being towed that is over about half the weight of the vehicle will greatly benefit from using a weight distribution. With your boat/trailer weighing 8,000 pounds, I highly recommend grabbing one. So let's get into which one you should go with.
I like the Fastway e2 systems as they are very effective and will likely last forever. For your weight, I recommend going with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # FA92-00-1000. Tongue weight is typically +/- 10% of your total loaded weight, so 800 pounds in this case, and you want to get as close to the middle of the system's capacity as possible. This has a tongue weight range of 600 pounds to 1,000 pounds, so it will be perfect. You will need to also grab a ball if you do not have one (2-5/16" # C40030 or 2" # RP54KR).
Now with that being said, you didn't mention what kind of tongue you have on your trailer. If it's an A-Frame style, you are good to go. If it's a straight tongue though, you will also need the Pole-Tongue Adapter for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems - 14,000 lbs GTW, 1,400 lbs TW # EQ95-01-5950.
What kind of boat do you have?

Regarding the 2 items you recommended, will etrailer offer a price match if they are available elsewhere for a lower price? Thanks
