Video Transcript for Review of Curt Hitch Ball - Trailer Hitch Ball - C69FR

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Curt two inch diameter stainless steel hitch ball. That's a 10,000 pound weight capacity. Now this hitch balls provides a connection point for your trailer's coupler, does use the fine threads on the shank to provide a nice tight strong grip and it is a corrosion resistant stainless steel construction. If you see the lock washer and the nut is all included for installation, a few specs, again, the diameter which will be stamped on the top is two inches.

Weight capacity, which is also on the top is 10,000 pounds and a couple of dimensions on this. The shank diameter is going to be right at one and a quarter inches. Shank length is two and five eighths inches long, so this is designed to fit ball mount platforms, at least three eighths of an inch thick and has a one and a quarter inch diameter ball hole. But that should do it for the review on the Curt two inch stainless steel hitch ball with the 10,000 pound weight capacity.

  • Wrench Size For Curt 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Ball With 1-1/4 Inch Diameter Shank
The Curt 2" Hitch Ball # C69FR has a 1-1/4" diameter shank, and for hitch balls with that size shank you will want to use a 6-point hex wrench with a 1-7/8" end. We do not carry these, but they can be found pretty easily at any local hardware store.

  • Is it Possible to Use a 2 5/16" Hitch Ball to Tow a Trailer That Has a 2 5/8" Coupler
Yes, you can use a 2 5/16" hitch ball, like the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-3/4" Long Shank - Chrome - 20,000 lbs # 63840, on a trailer that has a 2 5/8" Coupler. You will just want to make sure that you get the shank that is the correct size for the hole on your ball mount. I have attached a link to the 2 5/16" hitch balls on our site.

The 2-5/15" ball on the Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution w Sway Control - Round Bar - 8,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW # RE94FR actually comes pre-installed from Reese. We currently do not have the capacity to change out parts like this on an order, but the Curt 2" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-5/8" Long Shank # C69FR will definitely be a good 2" ball for this system.

  • Recommended 2" Hitch Ball for Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System
The correct 2" hitch ball to use with a Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System like part # RP66559 is part # C69FR. This hitch ball is made of stainless steel which is best because you don't have to worry about the coating wearing off and rusting like you do for chrome plated hitch balls.

  • Looking for 2 Inch Trailer Ball With 1-1/2 Inch Diameter Shank
A 2 inch trailer ball like # A-90 which has a 1-1/4 inch diameter shank that's 2-5/8 inches long is the largest diameter shank trailer ball we offer. Your best bet would be to get a short length (equal to the thickness of the platform the ball sits on) of steel tubing with a 1-1/2 inch OD with a 1/8 inch tall thickness that would serve as a bushing to shim out that size differenced.

  • Best Weight Distribution System for a 2020 Forest River Wildwood FSX 179dbk
It definitely sounds like you are having some issues with sway. It looks like your 2020 Forest River Wildwood FSX 179dbk has a maximum capacity of 5,000 lbs. With this in mind the tongue weight is typically 10% - 15% of the total weight of your trailer. You will want a weight distribution system that has a tongue weight range of at least 500 lbs to 750 lbs. I recommend the Reese Pro Round Bar Weight Distribution w Sway Control item # RE94FR. The Curt Rebellion XD # C45949 has a 1-1/4" ball hole diameter, so any hitch ball that has a shank with that diameter will fit and allow you to tow a trailer with that size coupler. For example, if you've got a trailer with a 2" coupler, you'll want to use the 2" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-5/8" Long Shank - Stainless Steel - 10K # C69FR; there is also the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-1/2" Long Shank - Chrome - 16,000 lbs # BWHB94050 for 2-5/16" couplers. • Weight Distribution Hitch Recommendation for 2021 Shasta 25RS
The Husky Center Line Weight Distribution System # HT32218 is rated for tongue weights from 800 lbs to 1,200 lbs. As such, this would be appropriate for your 800 lb tongue weight. The only issue here would be if you ever plan on towing your camper without any cargo behind your vehicle's rear axle, this WD system could be over rated and result in rough handling and ride quality. Overall, I would recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System # RP66560 over the Husky system...

  • Can I Use a 10k Weight Distribution Hitch with a 4400 GVWR Camping Trailer
It truly depends on the tongue weight rating of the weight distribution hitch that you have to know for sure. However, given large difference in gross towing weight capacities, the 10k weight distribution hitch most likely has a tongue weight range that is much too high for your 4400 gross weight rating on your camping trailer. With a range this large, the weight distribution hitch can cause much more issues than it will solve and can potentially damage the trailer. Since your trailer has...
