My son and I did a fit check and it’s going to work . My spear tire was in the way, of us putting a bike rack on. And now it will happen. Thanks

Product as advertised. Fit perfectly in my 2012 Jeep Wrangler factory receiver. Also purchased an Anti-Rattle receiver lock (Part #63232) which has everything fitting nice and snug. Now ready to mount our Softride 4-bike rack and go!

I purchased the MT70024 so I could use the cargo carrier on the rear of our fifth wheel camper. The spare tire on the camper's rear bumper prevented direct attachment of the CC-100 without the extension. The MT70024 worked fine.

Comments
worked great on my 26 ft fifth wheel. it gave me enough room on the hitch to clear interference with the rear mounted spare tire.

Exactly as described and very much appreciate the diagram showing the length and placement of the pin holes. Their shipping department could use some extra strong tape though.. it fell out of the box as I received it, and I feel lucky that it made it through at all.

Comments
So full confession, I overloaded the crap out of this trailer. I drove it across the country like that with the axle banging against the frame because the springs were bottoming out. I bought the extender to run my class three hitch out from under and aftermarket bumper. The hitch extender handled it with no problems whatsoever.

Well build. Perfect fit to our needs.

Excellently. The extension allows room between the vehicle and the trailer tongue. The added room can be used to attach a clamp-on bike rack.

The trailer hitch 12" extension is exactly what I needed. Excellent quality, I needed to be able to open the tailgate without unhooking my trailer, which was always a hassle with the A-frame jack. Problem was solved with the extension. As always etrailer came through again. Great Job!

Needed this as i have a big spare tire. It gave a good clearance to attach my bike rack.

Been using the extension on my Dodge Ram for a small trailer that has a short tongue. Works great to give me more room to open the tailgate without hitting the trailer jack.

This trailer hitch extension gets to the edge of the rear step on my 6,700 GVW Chevy cut Away van with the 16 foot Unicellular body. Unfortunately, it cuts the 10,000 pound towing capacity down to 5,000 pounds.

Just what I was looking for,I have a Hummer and with the large spare on the rear I could not put a lift for my handicap scooter on the back, but with this extender problem was solved. The service from etrailer was great it seemed as if it arrived overnight.I added yellow reflectors to each side to keep me from banging into it in low light.Overall great product

Comments
Using the extender will lower the tongue weight capacity maximum amount of weight that can be safely suspended from your hitch by half. For instance, if your current hitch tongue weight capacity is 400 lbs, using the extender will lower that by half to 200 lbs. This would mean that the mobility scooter and the carrier could weigh no more than 200 lbs. Your hitch will have a sticker somewhere on it that lists its gross towing and tongue weight capacity.

Well built and good quality, but does need an anti rattle device as there is too much play which is not good for the bike rack with heavy bikes. I wish I knew that when I purchased, so I didn’t have to buy on a separate order. Does a great job of moving the bike carrier out from the rear of the Jeep, almost enough to totally open the rear door

- MT70024
by:

Quick shipping, just what i ordered, great quality, would definitely order from here again

I was struggling to make a bike rack work on a Jeep Wrangler 2-door with spare tire. First, the phone rep was excellent, providing thoughtful comments and advice. She helped me make a good decision. She took all the time necessary for a small, purchase price. The hitch extension worked perfectly. The locking hitch pin was easy to install and provides Great security. Not a rattle to be heard. Moreover, I can now open my tailgate to access the rear and transport three bikes on a Wrangler.

- MT70024
by:

Works as presented. I forgot to order a second hitch pin; I wish it came with one since you can't use it without two of them. I did get some rattling over rough payment that was clearly coming from the hitch connection - although it may have been the trailer coupler and not a result of the slight play between the receiver and extension. I wished it had a threaded pin hole so as to allow for the extension to be tightened down.

- MT70024
by:

Pulling a double axle 16' flatbed with 2 to 4 quads on it. Product works well. No back and forth sway. More stable then I anticipated it would be. Plenty of clearance for the back of my 10' slide-in camper, the reason for buying this product in the first place. I would recommend this, but be mindful of the tongue weight on the hitch.

- MT70024
by:

A much-needed item when pulling my utility trailer with my Jeep. This allows a greater distance between the Jeep and the trailer so I can clear the trailer's a-frame mounted landing gear/support leg from the Jeep's spare tire when I open the back door.

Comments
Were glad to hear that the extender is working well for you. Please keep in mind that using an extender will reduce the towing and the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch by half. The extra length of the extender moves the trailer tongue weight further away from the hitch, which increases the leverage place on the hitch and its attachment points to the vehicle.

This product (manufactured in China) is sturdy with nice, heavy coats of paint. On the advice of the etrailer.com expert, I purchased this 12 inch extender for my Thule T2 pro XT (trailer hitch mount) platform bike rack. As it turns out, an 8 inch extension would have been a better choice for my stock 2017 Jeep Wrangler (with OEM sized spare tire). Oh well.

  • Needing Hitch Extender with 9 Inch Shank
We have an extender for a 2 inch hitch that meets the shank length you were looking for. The Tow Ready # HE18 has a shank that measures 13-1/2 inches overall, 11 inches in length from the hitch pin hole to the beginning of the receiver as shown in the provided photo. Keep in mind, using an extender such as this will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50%. The length of the narrower portion of the # MT70024 shank is 5 inches, which isn't what you're looking for.
