TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

Torklift SuperTruss does not disappoint. Straight forward install, though the manual photos are extremely dark. Use the Torklift YouTube install video if needed. The 48” extension gives me the needed length beyond the TC I was looking for while still allowing 1,200 tongue and 12k overall towing capacity. 491527

I bought this after a hair raising trip to Wyoming and back with a Reese Tow Beast hitch extension on the back of my 2011 Ram dually with an Arctic Fox 1140 camper on the back. i had issues all the way up and back with my hitch and met a Gentleman with theTorklift hitch and Super Truss extension and knew that was what I needed. I have installed but not pulled with it yet, but it is very solid. 454335

If towing behind a truck camper this is the only way to go! My wife and Ii were t boned a few years back by a box truck running a red light at highway speed. The 3500 Ram, the truck camper and the trailer were totaled. One jetski suffered $900.00 damage. The Super Truss suffered no damage whatsoever. It took awhile for us to recover but here I am buying another extension, for me it's the only one! 201867

This Super Truss Hitch is great! super strong! I have a large cab-over camper and pull a 14 ft motorcycle trailer with no issues. the chains and turnbuckles make a big difference in the stability of the hitch. 128750

  • Weight Distribution for Use with 48 Inch SuperTruss Extension and 1,000 Pounds Tongue Weight
The SuperTruss extension # TLE1548, when used with a SuperHitch Original or Magnum, can use pretty much any weight distribution system rated up to 1,200 pounds tongue weight. Since your trailer tongue weight is 1,000 pounds I do recommend going with a system rated for 1,200 pounds such as Equal-I-Zer # EQ37120ET. This system includes everything, including the shank and a 2-5/16 inch ball, so you would not have to add those items. But we do recommend adding thin-walled socket # ALL643216...

  • Suggested Weight Distribution for Use with 48 inch Torklift Supertruss Hitch Extender
The 48 inch long Torklift SuperTruss part # TLE1548 is rated for weight distribution. But since it has a single 2 inch hitch opening at the end of it you'd have to go with a weight distribution designed for a standard 2 inch hitch unlike the Superhitch Everest you mentioned. For example, the Reese Trunnion System part # RP66542 would work well. This system is rated for 600 to 1,200 lbs. For a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball to use with it you could use the # 19286.
