TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

  • What Hitch Extension Is Best For 2021 Chevy Silverado LT With Lance Truck Camper?
Hey Cindy, thanks for reaching out. We may have an extension that will work for you. It will help to know exactly how long of an extension you are needing as this will be one of the main deciding factors. Let me know how long you need it to be in the comments below. Also, another thing to keep in mind here is that using a hitch extended effectively cuts your hitches towing capacity in half. I am not sure exactly what hitch you have on your Silverado, but you will need to make absolutely...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch With Extension For 2003 Chevrolet Silverado With Camper
The only way you can get the extension you need for a trailer hitch is by replacing your trailer hitch with the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch, part # TLC1205. This is a Class V hitch and it has dual 2-inch receiver openings. You can then use the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension, part # TLE1548. This extension has dual shanks that fit in the dual receivers. Since your truck comes with a 7-way you can easily replace it with part # 30955. This will give you a working 7-way...

Hi William, The correct TorkLift SuperHitch for your 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500 is going to depend on your bed length and then will be split by capacity. 6-1/2' Bed: 17k # TLC1212 20k # TLC1212-30 8' Bed: 17k # TLC1211 20k # TLC1211-30 From there you can measure to find the correct length TorkLift SuperTruss hitch extender by measuring. The longest extension available that will work with the factory trailer hitch receiver on your 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 is the Trailer Hitch Extender # e48YR. You will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch receiver to the edge of your truck bed camper to see if this extension is long enough. • Recommended SuperTruss Extension for Flat Towing
Thanks for the pictures! My main concern in recommending a shorter extension, like the 36" TorkLift SuperTruss item # TLE1536, is clearance when making turns. The 36" would clear your camper and allow you to install your tow bar without climbing beneath your truck. However, depending on the height of your towed vehicle you run the risk of hitting the rear jacks when you make tight turns. Unless the nose of your vehicle is below the height of the jacks then I recommend using the 48" TorkLift...
