Installed within 30 minute easily on a 2025 crosstrek. Using a strap on the trunk latch, I was able to do it by myself. Holds a bike rack solid.
It does rest very close to muffler pipe, but didn’t touch.
Great Low profile hitch! This is a way better option than the Subaru brand for the buck. I am truly satisfied with this hitch very easy to install, took my wife & I maybe 15/20 minutes to install it. I didn’t install an electrical harness as I only need/want it for my bike rack. This is the second hitch receiver I purchase from etrailer.com and both times I’ve been pretty satisfied.

This product has held up well. Use it for my 3-bike rack on my Subaru Crosstrek and it's had no issues. Install was relatively easy, I had a friend help me who had done this before on his vehicle. He had the correct tools such as torque wrench and knew the sequence quite well. I need to get a fun cap for the hitch though!
The etrailer hitch fits perfectly on my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness edition. The matte black finish matches well with the matte black cladding of the Wilderness edition. Very satisfied with the product and the service from Kyle at etrailer.

Works perfectly. No problems what so ever.
I had it mounted by one of etrailer's recommended installers and they had no issues. The shop billed the job for 2 hours of shop time which I felt fair for the work needed including a lift. The vehicle being a Subaru Crosstrek will not be towing, but carrying bikes and kayaks. The Yakima Long arm Load Extender purchased here on etrailer. It was packaged in a heavy cardboard box that adequately kept mine from breaking out of the box. The UPS driver stated "he wished that these hitches were shipped in no box, wrapped in foam and tape". These are well built and heavy with a solid powder coat finish. Clearance fit was perfect with no need for cutting the car's bumper.
This is a very well made hitch receiver, very solid and looks great on my 2023 Crosstrek! Installation is just as described in video provided. I bought a 1-1/8” step up drill that worked great to enlarge one hole in each side. As mentioned in other reviews this is a 2 person job and you need to have the car up on blocks.
I’m very impressed with the product and service of etrailer. I called them to ask some questions, they answered right away and were able to answer my questions.

Its been a year since I got this hitch, Ive had no problems with it. Works great!
This was definitely a 2 person job. It would have been very difficult to try to align the frame of the hitch to the frame of the car, support the weight, and thread the fish wires through without someone helping!
Drivers side drill out required pulling the exhaust off the hangers but that was so much easier than it sounds.
Used both square washers on the front bolts as the hitch frame overlapped ever so slightly with a seam with more depth of material on the car frame.
So far have only used it to transport bikes on a bike rack but it did that well, looks great, and best of all is tucked in and out of the way vertically and front to back. Great product!
Awesome trailer hitch! It wasn’t too hard to install, and the quality is superb. I’ve had it for a year now and have had zero issues with it. I bought this along with a 1UP bike rack to haul my bike around, the hitch is solid! It’s holding up very well!
Could have done this without widening the holes like the ecohitch one. Also needs installation instructions with pictures. Overall a good product though with a great price compared to the rest and fairly easy installation.

Over the last year Ive used this constantly and have had no problems. Very well built and durable.
First, I opened up the center frame hole to fish the wires, instead of using the forward mounting hole (as their videos show), so as not to weaken the forward mounting surfaces. I found the included hardware to be just a little lacking for a clean tight fit. I ordered a pack of 2" grade 8 carriage bolts on Amazon, and got two 9/16" flat washers from Ace, to make up for the recession around the forward mounting hole and compensate for the round hole spacers. I also used some leftover scrap gasket material to make two identical flat washers. I taped the gasket washer, flat washer, and round hole spacer onto the car frame, around the mounting bolt. (See Pics) It's a tight fit next to the exhaust hangers, so I'd recommend detaching the hangers from the car side of the anchors instead of the exhaust side. Also, the square hole spacers for the forward mounting holes weren't long enough to catch inside the frame so you'll definitely need an impact driver to snug the nuts up. The safety chain was welded slightly out of square. Even though I slightly diverted from the instructions, the install videos were very helpful. Customer service replied to my e-mail concerns in a timely manner, but didn't seem to understand what I was describing about the recessed forward mounting hole. My original order included a trailer wire tester, but they had to backorder it and thus held up my entire order for it. After a month of waiting, I canceled the tester and it was shipped the same day. Then I ordered a different tester on Amazon.
The hitch is solid and installation was easy. But the receiver end was slightly mis-shapened and rendered the Draw-Tight silencer useless.

Hey Steven. The Draw-Tite silencer is specially designed for Draw-Tite hitch's only. I'm not sure why they decided to do that but that would be why it's not a perfect fit for our hitch's.
You guys are amazing at easy to install trailers. Where our shop is located (in beautiful north Washinton) we have so many bicyclists who needs trailer hitches installed on their vehicles and Etrailer is our first go to!
Easy to install, look awesome and all around good products.

This is my 2nd trailer hitch from etrailer and I am so happy with it. Instructions were very clear in the video tutorial which was extremely helpful. I didn’t have a cone but nor did I want to spend $50-100 on one so I busted out my Dremel with a coarse red grinder on it and it took me less than 5-7 mins to widen the holes in the frame. I used this hitch for my 2021 Crosstrek Sport. I haven’t used it for anything yet but the hitch looks and feels very sturdy, and it fits one of my hitch racks perfectly. I’m very happy and would highly recommend.

I haven’t towed anything but I use for a bike hitch rack and have had no issues. Would highly recommend!
Great 2” hitch. Once you figure out how best to mount it, it’s rock solid. Only downside I’ve had is with the locking pin and bolt that isn’t the easiest to maneuver. But with that being said, this makes any attachment more difficult for someone to steal. Great product overall and extremely happy with it.
Using the hitch only for a bike rack, but it looks and works great!!
Installed as it should, this is our 12th hitch from etrailer. Instructions were clear and hardware was accurate.

This arrived quickly. I went over then instructions and it is straightforward, but I need to buy a larger hole enlarging tool before I do the job. I want to make sure it is done right.
FYI... you must enlarge one of the holes to fish the bolt and rectangular washer through. Not a big deal, certainly easier than drilling a new hole. A tapered hole cutter is the best tool, but it could be done with a grinder bit on a dremel.

The hitch for my 2024 Crosstrek works great for its intended purpose, which is to hold my bicycle carrier. I have taken many trips with the carrier attached and the hitch is solid. There is only very minor rust after one upper midwest winter.

Delivered early on my day off, took about an hour and a half to install. Nice heavy duty feel to it, solid piece of kit.

Looks great. Garage did a great job installing it. One of their recommended installers. I prefer the matte black finish of the etrailer brand. Bike rack mounted on it is solid. Hoping this gives us many years of no frills use. Had the wiring harness installed just in case
Great quality hitch.
Easy 45 min. install for my son's 2025 Crosstrek.
Hardest part was fishing the wire on one side for 5 minutes (the other side took about 15 seconds).
Great instructional video.
I would say the bolts for the forward holes in the hitch could be about 1/2 inch longer; the nuts are just flush with the end of the threads; not sure why.

10,000 miles later and all is well. Take the extra time to add rust preventative measures to the holes you may need to add to install the hitch hardware.
I am a 48 year old woman with a mechanical background. I installed this hitch on a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek in about 40 minutes by myself. I used a jack to support the hitch during installation. The how-to video provided by etrailer is fantastic.

Excellent from start to finish! I considered this, the OEM version, and the EcoHitch for mounting on my 2025 CTW and ultimately decided on the etrailer version because of all the great reviews and the apparently easy install. I chose the matte black to match my Wilderness and it did not disappoint! The unit appears to be built well and the welds and paint look flawless! Installation was pretty simple, with the most time taken widening the access holes for the bolt and washer (ended up using a Dremel drill bit which took all of 5 minutes) and waiting for the spray paint on the bare metal to dry. I really like the fish wire system which made getting the washer and bolts into place the easiest thing ever! II used a hydraulic jack to raise the hitch into place and maneuver the position so I didn't have to hoist it by hand as I was alone doing this. I had the rear of the CTW on 3" ramps to gain more clearance to work under and it was more than enough. Nuts and bolts tightened to proper torque and I was done in under an hour in the fading evening light. I like the look of this hitch as it doesn't protrude past the bumper and is well higher than any suspension part under the vehicle so there is no clearance issues to worry about. Make sure you trim the sealant near the access holes for a flush fit. I didn't have to use the included spacers but YMMV, good to have them if needed. All the parts appear heavy duty and I have no regrets choosing etrailer; in fact, I am even more impressed with the company because of the service, price, and guidance provided throughout the entire process. No bumper modifications necessary and no muffler disassembly required either which makes this hitch the BEST available in my opinion (OEM requires CUTTING the bumper!!). Pair it with a harness for the trailer lights and you can safely and legally tow up to 3,500 (but keep it under for safety!). So happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy but sturdy DIY hitch install. I will DEFINITELY be buying from trainer again when I need to do my wife's Subaru Ascent.
