Will The etrailer Hitch e98912 Fit A 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Or Non-Hybrid?

Published 12/24/2025

Question:

Just bought a 2026 Subaru Crosstrek hybrid, and this etrailer hitch e98912 was recommended to me. I prefer the hidden cross bar and the higher clearance that it gives, and the price is way better than the similar echo hitch. On the information page, it says it fits the 2026 Crosstrek, but below that it says both “ includes hybrid” and “excludes hybrid” so I’m confused. Does this one work with my vehicle?

Hi Maria!

It is a little confusing how we label the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98912, but it actually fits both the Hybrid and non-Hybrid. Not all the hitches we offer do, so this was how we had to break it out in our "fit-guide". So this will fit your 2026 Subaru Crosstrek if you have a Hybrid or a non-Hybrid.

And I agree, the hidden cross tube is a much better look. What are you wanting to use the hitch for?

Thanks! For right now, just my Kuat bike rack, but I’m fascinated with the little Hitch Hotel…

@MariaK I hadn't heard of the Hitch Hotel before, but I just looked it up. That thing is cool! And I could even fit, which is rare for small tear drop campers that are getting more and more popular because I'm 6'5". I'm going to have to look further into these. ^___^

@LazerS Right!? 7’2” is impressive, especially for how small it stores when it’s all packed up. Really innovative. One more question about hitch receivers that will fit my 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid…. Any substantial differences between this etrailer and the Curt? Specs seemed pretty similar, and although neither of them tucks up behind the bumper like the Eco Hitch or the OEM, they’re 300 bucks less, andat least their crossbars are both hidden. Any significant differences in ground clearance, fit and finish or ease of.installation that make the Curt worth the extra $$?

@Maria The Curt and etrailer hitches are basically identical. The only difference between them is the finish. Curt uses a glossy finish and the etrailer one has a matte finish. I tend to prefer the matte finish as it blends in better and looks more stock, for the lack of a better term. And don't get me wrong, EcoHitch makes very nice hitches, but you definitely pay for them.
