I was very disappointed that it did not fit on my 2012 vw beetle. I had bought it thinking it would fit after I had clicked a link watching an installation video. I made double check to the part numbers to confirm the fit. If you are buying a trailer hitch for your car or truck call the to confirm the fit. Don’t do the same mistake I did.
When you put in your car ,for excluding the wrong hitch,need better system,not to find out at bottom of page in install instructions, how turbo model only , when about car link said this fits then call customer service,and get told that the site does exclude that model when it doesn't,put in my car three different times,all said this fits.autozone has better fit , doesn't fit system.and the install instructions said VW beetle hatchback (gas turbo only)the car model questions should have asked this.customer service argued that it was there, when I was reading the section that does not.to him.said you have to go to Bottom of page and read.ok.i modified it to work anyway.
Not hard to install yourself if you have the tools and can safely raise your car. Solid installation, fit my specific car perfectly like it said.
I was so excited to see they make a hitch and bike rack for my 2013. Vw beetle convertible .. We did have installed by an automotive place fir about $60 bucks but it was worth it .. We loaded two 26" mtn bikes and went two house from home .. It worked great no problem at all.. Very happy girl .. Now I can take my convertible & Bike to the beach ...
Your Curt 2013 VW Beetle Trailer Hitch Receiver arrived in great condition. I am very pleased with the simple, clean design of the receiver. Being an engineer, I really appreciate the use of the fishwire to install the 2 carriage bolts and spacers into the hole in the VW frame. This fishwire feature allowed your engineer to make a one piece receiver for the VW Beetle gas turbo & convertible that is a much simpler, cleaner design than the multiple piece design of your major competitor.
Hitch is on a 2015 VW Beetle and used only for a bike rack. More than satisfied, works great.
Quality product! Installation completed within 30 minutes on my 2013 VW Beetle Turbo Convertible. Purchased to haul my bikes around and so far I am more than happy with this hitch.
I can't even tell you how happy I am that I can transport my bikes on my beetle! I've been taking the wheel off every time I went for a ride. It was getting old. One thing and why I gave it 4 stars out of five is that it bottoms out in parking lots, my driveway and a few other places. That being said, my car is low. I've learned to go into the driveway diagonal and it works just great.
I have had the hitch with a 2 bike rack for over a year now. The hitch makes taking the rack on and off very easy. My husband installed the hitch n the driveway by himself without any problems. I am trading my 2015 Beetle in for a 2019 Final Edition Beetle and plan on taking the hitch off the trade-in and putting it on the new one.

The hitch was easily removed from the 2015 Beetle and installed on the 2019 Beetle. Would continue to recommend!
Very easy to install. Only took about 30 minutes.

It works like its supposed to, pulls a small boat with no problem.
Great product and easy to install. You will need a torque wrench and they should mention that to you. You are taking the rear suspension cradle bolts out.
Order was for VW receiver hitch. etrailer sent wrong unit. Service department was excellent and sent correct unit that day. Installed perfectly in 35 minutes. Excellent! Company to deal with.

Hitch is flawless. We use it for our bike rack constantly. etrailer is a very well run company!!
The trailer hitch was delivered on a timely basis and installed by a mechanic the following day. I am happy with the product & installation though I have not travelled with it yet.

A great experiance. The hitch came as advertised, great paint, it matched up perfectly as advertised and installed ina half hour or so nothing to do but boltup. This is a great product and fit perfectly on my 2014 VW Beetle convertible. Videos made it easy to install as long as you have the right torque to remove bolts (longer tool would give enough leverage).
I had to find a product that would fit my convertible and be able to use a platform bike rack to avoid scrapping bottom and this was it!

As I have a Volkswagen Beetle convertible, I had resigned myself to the fact I would never be able to haul my bike anywhere...I was taking the front wheel off and putting the top down and putting it in the backseat...not a good thing...but now with the hitch and bike rack, I am mobile!!!...and thrilled!...thank you very much for making me a very happy woman...
Very sturdy. Installation instructions were clear and easy to follow. Had to take my car to a shop to install, however, as it was just easier to do it with the car up on a lift. Also, the mechanic had to support the rear suspension in order to prevent the necessity of a rear alignment. Still, after the work was done (and it wasn't expensive) the finished product is great!
Fits perfectly on my 2017 VW Beetle Coupe. Had a hard time finding one that works well. So thankful for etrailer.com. They answered my many, many questions and shipped it 3 day select with no extra charge. Highly recommend!

Still works great a year later. Easy to use. I use it regularly with my bike trailer which I also purchased through etrailer. Highly recommend product but even more so the company.
Service from eTrailer was great as usual and the parts arrive right on time too. And the hitch mounted up in about 15 minutes all by myself. Might have been 10 minutes with another set of hands.
Make sure you have the 10" extension since you'll need it for sure on the 2013 VW Bug Convertible.
Fits perfectly, easy to DIY install, still solid as a rock and unobtrusive. Completely satisfied with the service and the product. Used for a bike rack because pretty much nothing else fits on a Beetle Convertible. Well done.
Very solid hitch. Took it to my local shop as I could not remove the existing bolts, air tools make it a breeze. After putting the car on the lift the mechanic and I did the job in less than ten minutes.
Only change I would make, the two additional mounting nuts should have been same size as existing to reduce tool need.
Love having a hitch on my Beetle convertible so we can bring our bikes along! We had it installed by our dealer, easily done.

We use the hitch all of the time. No issues, it looks nice, very stable. If anything its a little low so every once in a while it barely scrapes the ground when going into driveways or entrances, but thats mainly because our VW beetle sits low anyway. I guess if I could give input Id ask if that could be addressed on future hitches. Otherwise great hitch, well worth the money, highly recommend.
