Question:
I have been reading review in various locations and I need a simple confirmation... I have a 2013 VW Beetle TDI. Will this hitch work with that vehicle? Also, do you provide a 1 1/4inch to 2inch adapter? Thanks in advance.

Hi Andy!
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11354 will indeed fit your 2013 VW Beetle TDI. It actually fits everything but the R models, so you are good to go!
As to the 1-1/4" to 2" adapter, we have a few options for you. The first is the TowSmart Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # TS52FR, which is a straight adapter. The other would be the etrailer Hitch Adapter - 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch - 4-1/2" Drop/5" Rise - 6-1/2" L # e93YR, which you would use in the rise position. However, we haven't had the chance to install the hitch on a Beetle yet, so I am not sure how far underneath the bumper the pin hole is. This has 3" from the center of the pin hole to the closest edge of the 2" receiver (see 2nd picture), and I am not sure if it will work or not. You will need to take a measurement after the hitch is installed to see if this can be used or not. The flat one will definitely work though. One thing to note about either of these, and any adapter like this, is they do cut your tongue weight in half. So with this hitch having 150 pounds of tongue weight capacity, using an adapter will cut that down to 75 pounds of useable tongue weight.
These kinds of adapter can also cause a bit of movement, so I always recommend getting an anti-rattle device with them. There are a lot of options available for this, but I prefer the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch options. They are a simple design, but sometimes simple is best. For the 1-1/4" side, you would want the # RM-061-125 and for the 2" side, you will want the # RM-061. These will work with either of the adapter I mentioned as well.
Guessing you will using this with a bike rack?

Hi Andy, Did you have a chance to measure the pin hole after installing the hitch on your Beetle? I'm curious if the adapter worked out for you, especially since it could help others with similar setups.
