Ever had trouble connecting your trailer to your vehicle's electrical system? The custom-fit T-One connector makes this a breeze by plugging directly into your vehicle's existing wiring harness. Located inside the rear cargo area, it’s a quick plug-and-play that eliminates the hassle of complicated wiring setups. Simply locate your connection point, plug in the T-One, and you're ready to go.
Worried about overloading your vehicle's electrical system when towing? The ModuLite powered converter steps in to protect your vehicle by drawing power directly from the battery. This keeps your brake and turn signals on the trailer working perfectly without affecting your vehicle's lights, ensuring your ride is always safe and efficient.
Got various trailers to tow? With compatibility for the Tekonsha P2, P3, and Primus IQ brake controllers, this harness allows you to achieve optimal braking performance easily. Simply plug in your choice of controller and enjoy a seamless braking experience across all your gear, creating a secure stop every time without the need for permanent installation.
Need a reliable connection for both small and large trailers? This 7-way trailer connector gives you the flexibility to tow various trailer types by working with 4-pole, 5-pole, and 6-pole adapters. Its robust build ensures a strong connection point, giving you peace of mind as you switch between trailers or hike up your towing demand.
Hesitant about setting up a brake controller? No worries! The included brake controller adapter simplifies the setup, allowing you to plug directly into your braking system without any complex wiring. It’s a convenient feature that gives you the freedom to easily install or remove your brake controller whenever needed.
Concerned about draining your vehicle’s circuits? By connecting directly to the battery, this system ensures that your trailer's lighting and braking power requirements are met without tapping into your vehicle’s primary circuits. This setup shields your car from potential overloads, letting you tow with confidence on every adventure.

This harness does work well to get trailer brakes on a vehicle that the OEM harness does not accommodate. I watched a bit of etrailers install vid, but I'm, NOT going to run a harness under a vehicle with zip ties in a snow state. I removed all the panels in the left rear and step plates along the left side to run the harness inside and hidden from view. This takes a lot more time, but the end result is much better. I did use the Red-Eye controller in a blank space on the dash too, as there is not a very good place to hang an under dash controller.
Overall very good however the Pollak style 7way trailer socket was faulty with one of the contacts being pulled out of the socket by the trailer plug. etrailer sent me another however they sent me the whole kit rather than just the socket that I needed. Replacement socket works well.
I bought this set up to install in my 2016 Toyota Highlander so I could tow my Travel Trailer; everything worked great!
Very nice harness good selection of small parts/ connectors
Overall, this did the job, but there were a few quirks that really had me wasting a lot of time (installed on 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid):
1) The grommet in my vehicle had a diameter of like 23mm, while the diameter of the grommet on this was like 25mm. It was WAY too thick to try and make it work, so I had to take a utility knife and slice into the grommet. Still a pain to install.
2) It comes with three fuses. 2x 30amp and 1x 25amp. No where could I identify where the 25amp fuse went. Strange.
3) The wiring from the grommet to the 7-way is quite literally 8-12 inches too short. I had to splice all 7 cables to get the proper length of cable to make it work.
Aside from those issues, it is high quality and otherwise works great. It is worth mentioning and that harness provides EXCESSIVE wiring length for the brake controller and battery cables (I think it was), because the battery is mounted in the truck (HYBRID ONLY) area where the tow controller mounts.
All items arrived as expected, etrailer has provided plenty of help with installation and I'm excited to start towing. I will definitely be ordering from etrailer again.
Customer service people have been great.
Neither the installation instructions nor the Tekonsha technician can adequately define which red wire (back of the vehicle) is the proper one for splicing. There are 2 red wires in the bundle of wires specified, same size and color. A local trailer shop also turned down helping complete the installation. The Toyota dealership also declined to work on the situation. The harness is not functional for this reason. There are multiple other accounts from other guys trying to complete the installation relative to this exact issue on the internet.
I was under the impression (mainly from the video) that this was a complete package. It turns out I had to drop another $168 or so for the controller & related accessories. Extremely disappointed.
This was supposed to be a custom fit for a 2014 Toyota Highlander, however I had to make a number of customizations to make it fit. For example, the length of wires from the 10-pin connector to the grommet was too short and required inserting a 12-18 inch extension (about 4 or 5 wires plus 8 to 10 heat shrink butt connections). The wires from the grommet to the 7-blade plug connection were also too short and required extending all 7 wires about 12 inches (additional 14 heat shrink butt connections required plus a lot of electrical tape to protect it). The grommet was kind of funky - seems like it was installed upside down. I used the old grommet and cut it to allow wires to run through it. The old grommet mounts on the inside versus the outside mount that came with the kit. The length of wire running from the converter box to the battery and brake controller was more than enough. Directions were more of any overview and I had to search for Toyota Service Manual instructions to get specifics for removing trim panels, locating the 10-pin towing connector, and running wires through the firewall (follow the hood release cable that runs between the frame and fender liner). Took longer than expected, but got it to work.
This harness, paired with a Tekonsha P3 went in flawlessly to a 2018 Toyota Highlander while following the videos provided on eTrailer’s pages. Very pleased and I’m fully set up with a functioning 7-pin system to pull and control a 2018 Airstream 16RB Bambi. Paired with a Blue Ox WDH. Thank you for providing such great products at great prices.
Great fit overall would have been better if the trailer pigtail wire was about 4-6" linger
Everything arrived as expected and in a timely fashion after all parts where in will install probably next week and see how that goes thanks Quinn and everyone at etrailer for all your help will be in touch.
My mechanic said he called the tech support several times to get a hold of somebody and took almost all day to get the answers. Also the wire harness for the 7 pin was not long enough to install next to the hitch it was about a foot short. Beside that everything work great
I was moving in 10 days and got the tracking number the very next day and got the package within the 3 days it said I got the 3 to 5-day shipping and I am very satisfied with the ordering and shipping of the items.
This is a great product. etrailer did the installation. It turned out great. I definitely recommend the product.
I looked at my order status and it said that it wouldn’t be delivered for 2 to 3 months. I called and they fixed my order and found similar products For the same price that could ship immediately. They were great on the phone and my order arrived a day earlier than I was told. Excellent phone customer service and the product arrived undamaged. Thank you very much!
I have received the items I ordered from etrailer and expect to have them installed and used for the first time on 10/21. I can review them after 10/21. I was impressed with how fast my order arrived.
arrived this morning! everything looks to be here. Thanks for shipping so quickly!
will let you know how installation goes.
The device works great. We did decide to have it installed by the dealership.
Video instructions were a big help
Very prompt! Thank you so much!
Easy install, great product, I have been towing up to 4500lbs a few times a week.
Way too complicated and oversold what was needed.
This product is not made specific for a Highland . Wires are too short .

That does sound confusing! Some things to look out for are that of the red wires, you will want to choose the one of the single wire that is larger in thickness. Circuit testers, part # PTW2993 would be ideal to use to test to make sure you have the correct wire before splicing into it. You can have a friend put the car in reverse and test the wires for the signal to make sure you have the right one. Also, something to keep in mind is that the wiring harness will work without this red wire being installed because many trailers do not need the reverse function. If you watch the 2018 Toyota Highlander install video, you may want to start and the eight minute mark, and you may find it helpful as a visual guide. I hope this helps!
