If you have a factory 7-way on your 2017 Toyota Highlander you'd have to hardwire the controller to the vehicle as there isn't a factory port, but if you didn't have a factory 7-way we offer a solution that fits your vehicle and comes with a plug that attaches directly to the back of your P3 part # 90195 with the 7-Way kit part # 22119.
For a wiring kit to install the brake controller to a factory 7-way you would want the Wiring Kit for 2 and 4 Brake Electric Brake Controllers # 5506. This will provide the power source and ground for the wiring for the brake controller. You will need to test the wires from the brake pedal switch of your vehicle to find a circuit that has voltage when the brakes are applied and none when not applied. This will be the circuit you will run the red wire to.
Finally you will need to run a length of 10 gauge wire (part # 10-1-1) from the brake output circuit of the controller to the brake output circuit of the 7-way (blue wire). The # 10-1-1 is sold by the foot so you will need to order a quantity of the amount of feet you will need.

Vehicle: 2017 Toyota Highlander Platinum Brake Controller: I-Command Electronic Brake Control, for 1 to 4 Axle Trailers, Proportional Part Number: 5535 I see an answer for the P3 controller, but not the I-Command. I am trying to wire a brake controller on my SUV and am wondering if there is an easier way of doing this other than hard wiring. Will I need to hardwire my I-Command like the P3 or is there a Plug-N-Play harness that I can use? Thank you for your help.
