Adding 7-Way Trailer Connector to 2016 Toyota Highlander

Question:
I have no factory trailer wire harness for my 2016 Highlander XLE. I want to purchase what I need for 2016 Toyota Highlander tow wiring harness for 7 pin. I will not the 7 pin at this time but for future use. At this time I only need it to run trailer lights but want to wire the 7 and use the 4. Please advise what items that I will need. Thank you.

For your 2016 Toyota Highlander XLE, I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118449 to give you the basic 4 way function, then I recommend using the # ETBC7 to give you the 7-way connector along with 4-way connector and the wiring needed to complete the other functions. This will set you up for the brake controller of your choice that you will then hardwire using the included circuit breakers and wiring. I've attached a video to assist.
Alternatively you can use the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter - 7 Way Trailer Connector # 22119 which will give you the easy connection to add a Tekonsha brake controller when you are ready to do so by just connecting it to the already present wiring harness included with this kit.
