Guide-on posts make it easy to load your boat onto your trailer and back your trailer down the ramp. They attach to the rear of your trailer and extend out of the water, providing visual targets to center the boat between during loading.

Features:

  • Guideposts provide a visual target on your trailer to help you load and unload your boat
    • Extend out of the water to help you center your boat while loading
    • Assist you in backing your trailer down the boat ramp
  • 16-Gauge, pre-galvanized steel posts are strong and durable
  • Black PVC pipes slide over steel posts so you can see your submerged trailer
  • Simple installation on rear crossmember of trailer frame with included hardware - no drilling required
    • Adjusts out to 13" from trailer
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: trailer frames up to 3" wide x 4-1/4" tall
    • For frames up to 5-1/4" tall, 2 extra-long U-bolt kits (CE11416 - sold separately) are required
  • Overall height: 60"
  • Steel post dimensions: 38" tall x 1-1/2" diameter
  • PVC Pipe diameter: 2-3/8"
  • Quantity: 2 boat guide-ons

Note: Check with your state Department of Transportation for restrictions regarding maximum trailer width.

Guide Your Boat Into and Out of the Water with Ease

When your boat trailer has been backed down the ramp and is partially submerged, these 60" tall guideposts that are mounted on the rear corners of the frame will stick out of the water, giving you 2 highly visible targets to guide your boat between for loading. The PVC pipes also provide a visual aid to help you back your boat trailer down the ramp when you're unloading and loading your boat.

Installation

The posts are simple to install. Slide the PVC pipes over the pre-galvanized steel support posts. Then mount the posts on the top or below the trailer frame, as close to the rear corners as possible. Adjust the posts so that the distance between each post and your boat is less than 1".

Pre-Galvanized Steel

Pre-galvanized steel parts are stamped from a sheet of steel after it has already been galvanized. The edges of pre-galvanized parts often lose their zinc coating during the stamping process. Because of the thinness of the coating (less than 1 mil) and the fact that the edges remain exposed, pre-galvanized parts can begin to oxidize and rust quickly, so it's recommended that they be primed and painted.

These guide poles are an excellent addition to our trailer and really help getting the boat on the trailer correctly every time.

Couldnt be happier a year later. They have taken some hard bumps and had no issues. Excellent product and completely satisfied with our purchase.

by:

Overall I would say a good product. Maybe not quite rigid enough for my heavier boat, but does its job. I made sleeves for the guides because the pvc tubes were leaving scuff marks on my paint

by:

Product as described. 10 minute install. Only one tool needed (9/16" socket/wrench). Fast shipping. Arrived when stated. Would buy again. If you have a shorelandr trailer (Yamaha boat), buy the extended bolts.

by:

The guides are especially helpful to see the trailer's position when backing it down a ramp without a boat. It was easy to install and stays put while traveling.

by:

Very disappointed with the shipping and packaging of your product. I received my package from usps and the box was torn apart and the metal poles had scratched the PVC pipe up due to improper packaging. Also the description online states that the product will fit a 5” boat trailer frame and I was told that they can send me the correct bolts but will have to charge me the price of the hardware but not the shipping. That is unacceptable per the description of the product states.

The brackets measured as 5 inches of usable space [from the inside of the u-bolt to the end]. However, you will need 2 extra-long U-bolt kits like part # CE11416.

by:

Bolted in in 30 min.
PVC POLLS damaged
in shipping but only cosmetic

Clear instructions. (Pictures).

Headed to the lake to see if my placement is going to work

I'm going to add lights for my wife so night loading is better. Black polls are hard to see

Fantastic today we boated lake Havasu we lost nutural and reverse , without the poles we would have never been able to load the boat thank goodness we had them on the trailer. Love this product

by:

These are very helpful getting our pontoon onto the bunk trailer because needing a deeper ramp, the rear inside load guides are often too deep, so these posts help me guide it straight onto the trailer with ease. The first time we used them there was a little wind, so i just pinned the front of the pontoon on the inside of one of them and slowly worked my way between them both, and in no time i was lined up and ready to pull all the way onto the trailer.

installation took about 25 minutes, some minor adjustments once i got them secured. i have them about 1.5" from the deck of the pontoon, this allows a little wiggle room, but also forces me to be in the right spot. Such an easy install, just a ratchet and a single deep-socket was all i needed.

by: 05/07/2021

Took a while to get them through no fault of etrailer as they were down to 1 light in stock and everything seems to take longer to get it. Install went great, installed the lights on the back of the posts for better visibility and they look awesome.

by:

Solid product. Right out of the box you can tell this product is built to last. The metal is heavy gauge and the PVC coverings are well cut to fit. It went on perfectly and it’s not going anywhere. My only suggestion would be to add a couple self tapping screws and pre-drilled holes to secure the PVC to the uprights to prevent theft. I did this myself without a problem.

by:

It fit on the trailer well, I haven't had a check to try loading the boat from the water yet.

by:

Always fast and thorough

by:

Easy install.....they look great on the trailer

by:

Simple fast install, feels very solid. Since my boat trailer has bunk boards instead of rollers, I tend to float the boat onto the trailer. Throw a little wind or current and it becomes a pain to center the boat on the trailer. This should fix it just hope I left enough room to be able to get the boat off the trailer.

Still works great, less stress on the wife. Only issue I had was losing the caps, they should be glued on as a line may snag on one then pop it off in the water and they sink like a rock. However they are just pvc so any hardware store will have replacements for a couple bucks. My posts are black and caps white which helps backing in the water.

4/5. I really like these guide-ons. I often launch my little 14 footer in improvised ramps or launches on shallow lakes and these help to guide the boat on the trailer when everything's in the water and you're running solo. It's also nice for getting back on the trailer in rivers. The guides themselves are built and set up well. I do wish they had a little bit better bracket setup for mounting to the trailer. Mine tend to need to get snugged back up or readjusted every so often as they have a tendency to slip or twist in the brackets a bit. It doesn't affect the function, it's just enough to notice. IMO I would have added a piece of square tube to connect the two bottom ends together so they can't twist independently, it'd look a little nicer and make it easier to get them squared up nice.

All in all, absolutely do not regret buying them, and will put them on the next trailer too. They function well, look nice, and have held up for a year. Awesome for the price.

My C E Smith Post Guide-Ons are an easy add-on to my Boston Whaler Trailer. Shipping by Fed Ex was fast (box was still intact and legible). Instructions were both on the outside of the box and on paper-straight forward with list of tools needed (9/16 in Deep socket is helpful) . Really like that the slide PVC post has a notch to prevent rotation and noise and the black color matches boat trim. Pleased with this product. Even though 4 locknuts were missing-a call to e-Trailer resolved the issue-Mark is the Man! I encourage boaters to browse the e-Trailer website. After all, spending your precious outdoor time with activities is what it is all about-not having to deal with issues just getting there. What have I bought from these Guys at e-trailer-well a 7-blade to 4-blade Adaptor to get my Tacoma lighting hooked up, nice Hitch Pin with Lock, a Coupler Lock, cool Noco Genius Battery chargerr, tube of Dielectric contact grease, Marine Grease for axle bearings and a spare tire. Who said I can't do the boat launch and retrieve thing ? OK my wife does every outing-but with e-Trailer and a warm sunny day it is still FUN. GO BOATING !

by:

Solid and sturdy once mounted. Easy installation and instructions were easy to follow. I recommend the 60” poles because you can cut them down if they’re too tall. I have a 21’ yamaha AR210.

Still looks brand new. I lost one of the end caps some how? Maybe putting the boat in the water.

by:

Easy and smooth order over the phone. Great customer service. Got exactly what I needed for my boat trailer

by:

These work really well. Extremely easy to install, probably 15-20 min total and all you need is a 9/16" deep-socket/ratchet. I put these on a galvanized trailer for my Yamaha boat and they look like they came on the trailer from the factory. The 5' height was perfect for the Yamaha, which sits quite high in the water. Gettting the boat onto the trailer was typically a challenge, but with these it just guided right on, first try!

by:

Physically I expect these will do a good job but CE Smith could do a better job packing the goods. The pvc pipes were all marred up from rolling around against the metal supports.

by:

very good product. strong enough, but still flexible enough, to be a good guide without breaking. i’d recommend

by:

Great price quick delivery and nice product. Exactly what I wanted.

by:

The included mounting hardware was too narrow for the beams on my trailer, but the trailer itself had a mounting system. Of course the brackets on the trailer were too small and the bolts on the trailer were too big for new brackets. So after a little filing, it’s all mounted and looks great. I assume the product will work great when boats ramps reopen and I can get in the water.

by:

Really helps guide my Sea Doo Jet boat on the trailer, as Jet boats generally do not steer unless you are accelerating.
And also helps when trailering in cross currents loading in a river, plus in the ocean with wind and waves, Thank you.

by:

Great product. Makes loading the boat is current or at steep ramps extremely easy.
Helps with backing the trailer down to the ramp (makes it easy to see where it is).

by:

Love the guides. These guides along with the tall set at the back of the trailer make loading simple. I have a 25ft Bennington Pontoon and it loads perfectly onto the bunks.

  • How to Choose Correct Height for Post-Style Boat Trailer Guide-Ons
The best way to determine the height needed is to measure from the top of your trailer frame to the top of the sides of your boat. If the 40" Tall Guide-Ons # CE27626 sit right at or slightly above the sides of your boat then the shorter will work for you. Otherwise the 60" Tall Guide-Ons # CE27646 will be the better option. These posts are made of PVC pipe so in reality you can just get the 60" tall kit and then cut them to the desired height once you get your boat to the water. Attached...
