Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the Roller Shaft w/Cap Nuts 19" x 5/8"

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this roller shaft with cap nuts. If you are needing to replace a worn out roller shaft on your boat trailer, this might be just what you need. This shaft is made in the USA of sturdy, zinc plated steel and it accommodates 18 inch rollers. And it attaches with the two included end cap nuts, or end caps, or pal nuts.

They go by various designations. And so, those will be included for installation. And let me pull out my tape measure here and just give you the overall length. Looks like with the overall length, we are sitting right at 19 inches long. And the diameter is 5/8 of an inch.

And that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

I have ordered several times over the years for trailer parts and have always been very satisfied with the quality and customer service I have received. This order for several parts was no different. when I need parts I know I can find what I need at E Trailer. Shipping is fast and reasonably priced. Very satisfied.

I HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE 5/8 19" SHAFT. THE 18" ROLLER ARRIVED WITHOUT THE SHAFT IN THE CONTAINER!When may I anticipate it arriving?

Hi Etrailer.
What happened to George
who wrote me about this about a year ago. Anyway you will figure it out.
This has been a slow project because I am an old retired guy living on a surfing beach way down in Mexico. I brought all the parts from you down in my truck about two years ago. All the parts came from you and the steel and paint I bought here in Mexico. I built the trailer in my shop here and had to modify it several times to fit the strange requirements we have for launching off the beach with waves. I never seem to remember to take the camera or my phone to the beach to show that procedure but it is a little involved compared to a tilt trailer on a boat ramp. If I back the trailer into the water the wave action washes the sand out from under the trailer tires and the quad tires and them I am stuck. I have to launch in the hard sand just inland from the waves and parallel to them. The trailer can only tilt until the rear cross member is just above the sand or I cannot pull the trailer out from under the boat with the 500 lb. Honda 4WD quad. We put pieces of 2 inch black irrigation plastic tubing about 6 feet long under the boat as it is coming down off of the trailer as it is pulled out. This gives us old guys the chance to push the boat 90 degrees until it faces the waves. We wait for some larger waves to roll up under the boat and then we push it into the water and away we go when we find a lull in the incoming waves. We use the boat to get to surfing spots and then fish on the way home. The trailer pictures I am sending are showing the tilt stop that is not quite in use as I am just running the engine in my drive way. The fat little tires are for the sand.
If this project is of interest to you I have some pictures showing the construction of the trailer that better show some of your hardware. I will also try to remember the camera the next time we launch. Our waves are bigger in the summer time so we will have to wait for a small surf day to play with the boat.
Everything that happens here in Mexico is slow and there was some spine surgery that also slowed things down a bit. But a year later I am still surfing and playing with the boat.
That's my story and sorry to be so slow.

Did exactly what I needed it to do.

by:

The roller shafts were high quality, met specifications and were as illustrated. They worked well with the brackets I ordered, and are a perfect fit with the 18 inch rollers I ordered. What I appreciated just as much as the product, was the high level of service that I received. The etrailer.com staff seemed genuinely concerned with me being happy with the order. I will definitely buy from etrailer.com again when I have need for the products they offer.

Repairing a tandem axle boat trailer for 1987 Grady White, I found the keel roller, shaft, and guide rollers on back had deteriorated. Locally I could only find the "Heavy Duty," but needed the Super Heavy Duty. After a couple of failed attempts locally, I found the necessary items on eTrailer and had them delivered to my door-- promptly. Further, right before ordering I noticed a flat tire. Although I was able to get a new one mounted on that galvanized rim locally, I decided a spare would increase my comfort level when towing, so had one included in the eTrailer order. Now ready for fishing season.

by:

No problems fit well and works fine. Just a roller shaft. I wish it came in stainless, though. My only suggestion to other customers would be to know that this has to be ordered separately, it does not come with the keel roller and/or the brackets. I ordered these and then realized the shaft was not included and had to order it and wait a few more days to get the job done. Pretty much my own fault.

by:

Came with the 18" roller. However 19" is just a bit too short. Not enough exposed shaft for the retainer caps to get a grip. Had to drill it and pin it after it all fell apart at the boat launch.

by:

etrailer ask me for a review about these items. I all forgot about them. They were what I wanted and exact same as old parts. So far they performed OK

by:

The products worked as advertised and functioned well for my application. They were easy to install. etrailer's prices were very competitive and their service was outstanding.

by:

Everything was exactly what I needed and pretty fast ship!

by:

All of your products were of very good quality and fit perfectly the first time. Thank you for being genuine. I especially appreciate you selling Dutton Lainson products, as I grew up in Hastings, NE. They are a very good manufacturer.

by:

Put in an order with several items I needed, so it came to over $99 so I get free shipping. 2 of my items were not in stock, But I needed the other items. They made me cancel the first order, then submit another with the in-stock items. I came to under $99 so I had to pay shipping. etrailer would not just send me what they had in stock and the rest later with free shipping. Not very consumer friendly.

by:

Purchasing theses items from etrailer was fast and extremely convenient . Quality items at a very reasonable price. I am totally satisfied with my purchase and will uses etrailer for any future trailer needs.

by:

We ordered hull rollers for our boat trailer. They were as nice as expected and arrived much sooner than expected. Great experience.

by:

Nice product. Worked well for the older trailer. We had to cut it down from 19" to 13" to fit, but all went well. Received our order quickly and item was much less expensive than retail. Would purchase from this site again. Thanks!

by:

As advertised.

by:

Order was received earlier than anticipated. The 19” roller shaft was too short. I did not realize it had to be longer to accept the outer roller. Overall excellent.

by:

ALL PARTS WHERE CORRECT I INSTALLED THEM ON MY TRAILER TODAY. THANKS FOR THE GOOD SERVICE.
JIMMY

by:

Shaft was the right width but not the right length. With 1/4” steel supports holding the shafts, I had to tack weld the shafts in place. The caps sent were useless.

by:

They where great on providing information on the questions I had order was easy and package got here in a reasonable time

by:

Well made rollers, prompt service.
I
will use etrailer products again.

  • Length Of Shaft Needed For 12" Roller With End Caps On Both Ends
Hi Melissa, You can definitely install 2 of # YR224-5 end caps on the ends of the # DL21554 while on the # CE10305G bracket, but not with the # CE10727A roller shaft. Each end cap will add 1-1/2" of length so you would need a roller that is at least 15-1/2" long to accommodate the extra length and a little more for the pal nuts to have a good purchase area. That said, we do not have one in that specific length so your best bet would be to grab the Roller Shaft w/Cap Nuts 19" x 5/8" #...

  • What is the Widest Keel Roller for a Boat Trailer
Thanks for reaching out, Michael! The widest roller we have is the 18" Long Yates Keel Roller for Boat Trailers # YR18244-165EC which installs on a trailer using the CE Smith Universal-Fit Split Panel Brackets # CE10500G, the 19" Roller Shaft w/Cap Nuts # 107-30A, and either bolting into the trailer frame or around it with U-Bolts. Since I'm not sure what the size of your frame is I've gone ahead and added a link to our U-Bolt kit selection for you to filter through, but I'd be more than...

  • Longer Roller Shaft Recommend to Install Endcaps on CE Smith Deep V Keel Roller Assembly # CE10405G
To install the endcaps part # YR134-5 on the ends of the roller of the CE Smith Deep V Keel Roller Assembly # CE10405G you will need to get a longer 5/8 inch shaft so that there is enough room for the endcaps to secure on either side of the bracket. The roller shaft that would most likely work the best for you would be the 19 inch 5/8 inch diameter roller shaft # 107-30A. You will need to measure your setup to be sure this would work for you though.

  • Roller Shaft Recommendation with Pal Nuts for an 18 inch Long Keel Roller # YR18244-165EC
For a roller shaft with a 5/8 inch diameter that comes with pal nuts that would work with an 18 inch long keel roller like the part # YR18244-165EC you would want the part # 107-30A. This is a 19 inch long shaft that is 5/8 inch in diameter and comes with pal nuts. This is the longest one we offer in 5/8 inch diameter.

  • Recommended Keel Roller For Best Weight Capacity on Boat Trailer
The Yates Keel Roller for Boat Trailers - Super-Heavy-Duty Rubber - 18" Long - 5/8" Shaft # YR18244-165EC is not weight rated. The weight of the boat will actually be on the bracket and the 5/8 inch shaft that runs through the heavy-duty roller. Your application with the front weight the roller is more likely to bend the longer you make the roller. For instance the 18 inch roller along with the brackets # CE10500G and Roller Shaft w/Cap Nuts 19" x 5/8" # 107-30A will be more likely...
